I am running Windows 8.1 and went to the website, downloaded and installed. I receive a warning about installing programs but I tell it to continue and it installs.

Are you running Internet Explorer, Chrome or another browser? Are you launching the browser from the Windows Desktop or from the Windows 8 "Start" screen?

I am running IE and launching from the desktop. Yesterday day was my first time with 8. I am somewhat lost with it.

Well I've been trying almost all day and no success.
Took my laptop back to Best buy as I just got it yesterday. They couldn't make it work either.
They could however make it work on another machine they had in the back.
Tried installing ejuicemeup and it will not install on this machine.
I even made them swap out laptops with me and it still won't install.

It's a Toshiba if that makes any difference.

I also tried downloading through Google chrome but no help. I'm at a lose.

I hate it because I already had it on my xp machine and loved it.(that machine died though).

If the error message you are encountering is the same as the one in the link, try working through the solutions found here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...er-issue/371fe4fb-f52b-4918-b8a0-a847ece41d3f

Something is wrong with your computer. I bought my wife a Toshiba laptop from bestbuy a couple weeks ago. I was just able to download JuiceCalculator with no issues at all. Maybe a firewall issue?

Finally got the issue resolved. The brand new Toshiba that I purchased yesterday got swapped out this morning because the geek squad at best buy couldn't figure it out.
I got home with another brand new Toshiba thinking that wont happen again. Well it did.
I go back to best buy and three people try to get the new one to install programs. They kept telling me that I needed to contact the vender of the program. Then I told them that it wouldn't install iTunes either and should I call Apple?

This is when they pulled out all the stops. They found the fix on youtube.
That was funny to me but it fixed the problem.
Some know problem during the initial startup of the laptop. Could be something that I did or didn't click on.

Anyways it's fixed and I can go about re-installing all my ingredients.

That's hilarious!!! The Geek Squad using YouTube to figure stuff out. Love it. Hope they didn't charge U for that. My wife calls me the YouTube handiman. Every time I need to fix something around the house, the first thing I do is get on YouTube. They have videos on how to fix everything!

Okay, so here goes a computer illeterate question. If I was to go buy another computer do I just make a copy of the Juice Calculater backup file and then after reinstalling the Calculater on the new machine import the backup file? That file is where all a persons recipes are at, correct?

I would think so.

No charge. The first one was only one day old. The second one was the one they traded for the new one. About two hours old.

At a minimum you want to copy your recipe file. The best way to get a copy of this is to:
1. Launch the calculator.
2. Do a File->Save As and note the location that you save the file to.
3. The file you just saved is the file you copy to the other computer.

The recipe file will make all of your recipes available to you on the new computer however there are some other, less important, files that you may want to copy. When you make changes to things such as "Tools->Options" these are stored in some files that you may want to copy. To find and copy these files:

1. On your old computer (where JuiceCalculator is installed) go to the directory where Windows stores application data files. This is in a directory "C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\JuiceCalculator". An easy way to get to this directory is click your "Start" button and the "Run" option and type in: %AppData%. This will take you to the directory and then go into the "JuiceCalculator" folder.
2. Copy all of the files in the JuiceCalculator folder to your new machine. Make sure you use the same method to get to the folder on your new machine and do the copy on the new machine after you install the JuiceCalculator.

I hope this helps.

Hi HotRod,

First off, a huge round of Thanks for this awesome Calculator.

There's one little thing that's been bugging me and I wanted to share it with you.

Scenario: You're working on a recipe and you want to change an ingredient. You click the arrow to the right of the ingredient, and open up the drop-down list of ingredients. Then you move your mouse over to the drop down and focus on some ingredient.

The problem is that when you use your mouse wheel to try to scroll up or down the list of ingredients, what happens, at least to me, is that the ingredient % is changed instead. I would have "assumed" that I would be able to scroll up or down the list of ingredients till I got to the one I wanted, then click on it to change the ingredient.

The side effect of this behavior is that if you hadn't saved recently, and if you don't remember the % you had the ingredient at before, you have to Exit and lose your previous changes.

Anyways, it's no biggie.

Thanks again for this wonderful program

I wasn't aware that this was happening but will look into it.

Hotrod - Have you thought about adding a Manage Inventory popup like you have for Manage Ingredients?

or is there a way to recover from mistakenly clicking the Add to Inventory or Reduce Inventory buttons?

Maybe a "Yes or No" popup - Do you want to Add to/Reduce Inventory? something like that.

Thanks.

Or an undo /redo menu option

I've been using this program since I started DIYing, and I am very impressed with the featureset. However, I've noticed that it's lacking a few things - or rather, a few things could use improvement.

I find myself frustrated with even my moderate (~40) ingredient library, since it is just a big list. If we can add our own folders to organize ingredients the way we want, I think inventory control will be much easier. It might be a good idea to have an "All Flavors" folder in there by default - so you can choose to look either categorically or alphabetically. Basically, I'd like ingredients and recipes to work more like bookmarks in a web browser.

Also, version control - right now I'm getting around the problem by creating one recipe per version, but I'd love a dropdown to select which version to load. The folder system would be a workaround, if you allow subfolders, but I think a separate GUI element for recipe version would be a better solution.

devilchasnme,
There is a way to manually adjust inventory. It is a bit of a pain, though, and I'd love to see an inventory management dialog.

tidegirl,
Try clicking File/Save As... to manually create the database file. If there already is one, click File/Open... to load it. Did you click Save & Exit last time you closed the program?
