I don't know if it's possible but....
Since I measure in weight, is there a way to have the program move the "Gram" column to the left so it is the first column (either to the right or left of the ingredient in stock list if displayed). Possibly have it as a check box option to have it placed in that location for those that would like it, and keeping the display as it currently is for those that don't? It would make it easier to use/find the amount to add for a recipe instead of having to scroll over with your eyes and possibly use the ml amount by accident (not admitting that I have done this of course).

The option to show only recipes with needed inventory available was cool but just having the red vs black writing in the listing was fine for me. The one feature that I would really like to see if possible is to see recipes that could be made with an alternate flavor manufacture that is in inventory. Say in another color. I have 4 different watermellon flavor manufactures for example. Recipe calls for watermellon tfa but I have watermellon FA.

The vast majority of flavorings are not interchangeable like that. Watermelon TFA is candy, Watermelon FA is not. That is just an example, mind you. But most are the same way. They taste different enough that your recipe could go from yum to ruin even if you adjust the amounts (FA being far more potent on all flavorings as a general rule).

A few months back I started a thread about a new calculator that was available. Since that post I have received a lot of good input and have made several updates and added new features. I encourage you to download and try out the latest version. All feedback is welcome.

Download links:
Dropbox: Dropbox - JuiceCalculator
Google: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0ByHCyknRKMBCWTBwN0ZHVGM4Y00&usp=sharing

A summary of its features:
Define and save ingredients
  • PG/VG percentage levels
  • Nicotine level (pre-mix ingredients)
  • Drops/ml and grams/ml
  • Cost of ingredient
  • Notes associated with ingredient

Define and save recipes
  • Nicotine, PG and VG level
  • Selection of defined ingredients to add
  • Notes associated with the recipe
  • See resulting amounts to add (drops, ML’s, grams) and total cost of the recipe

Modify an existing mix
Have you ever created a mix and would like to change the nicotine level, increase or decrease a flavor percentage, change the PG/VG ratio or add additional ingredients while maintaining the same ratios of your other ingredients? The “Modify recipe” option will do this. After making your changes you will be informed how much of each ingredient to add to bring your existing mixture to the new levels.

Build a recipe by entering ingredient amounts
Have you ever mixed something up by throwing together several ingredients and wanted to create a repeatable recipe by specifying the amount of each ingredient added? The “Build recipe” option will do this. Enter the amount of each ingredient added and then save the new recipe.

Includes a calculator to “Dilute nicotine” to a different mg/ml level and dilute to obtain a different PG/VG ratio.

Export your recipe(s) and ingredients to Excel.

Import your existing recipes from other popular calculators.

Search your existing recipes to find recipes that contain one or more of the ingredients specified.

Before you start using the calculator, make sure you setup your preferences on how the calculator operates by going to the “Options” window.

Thank you thank you for the calculator! I just ordered a starter kit from DIY Flavor Shack and was wondering how I would figure out the measurements without screwing it up. This totally eases my mind since I have a tendency to transpose numbers and such when doing projects. The nerves I had after ordering are abated and now I'm just excited. I'll save about $650 over the next 6 months doing DIY liquid! That means I'll have money for...more toys! That will definitely pay for another mod!

I seem to be having some issues with the newest update. I add my ingredients and save them all and when I go to make a recipe the new ingredients are gone along with the new recipe. This started happening where things would just disappear. I even used a backup from the last time I used it and it doesn't keep right. Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks

I am using version 6.0.0.8 and am NOT having that issue. Added 2 new recipes yesterday and about 3 new ingredients that I will need to purchase, just checked and they are still there.

Thanks for a reply. I'm not sure what is going on. I'm still having issues for some reason. Sometimes my stuff will come back and other times it doesn't. I got some knew flavors in and added them in for ingredients and some times it will stay and then I go to make a recipe and they are gone. It does it also if I change a ingredient in my recipe , say if I tried adding a different brand of vanilla and try switching the recipe to use that vanilla it won't show in the ingredient that I have the new brand. So what I might do is print every recipe and ingredient I have and start fresh again but that is so much to print :)

I'm using 6.0.0.8 and have lost my inventory. If I select "OR available inventory" I get no recipes, the balance of the screen greys out.

I forgot to mention that also happens for me also. I don't know what the issue is. But I hate having to add everything back in and some times when you do a backup it fixes the issues but then goes right back. I'm going to look and see if I have a older version as I didn't have this many issues until this version. But I like how easy it is to use and keeps ( Suppose to) all of your flavors and recipes..

I will PM you this evening when I get home to try to help you chase this down but one thing you can check which will prevent an ingredient from showing in the ingredient list is the "Deactivate (hide)" checkbox. Click the "Ingredients" button on the main window and then select the ingredient in the Ingredient window and make sure that the "Deactivate" box is unchecked.

When the "OR available inventory" is checked, only recipes that have enough inventory on hand will show in the recipe list and if there are no recipes that have enough inventory, the window will grey out.
Since none of your recipes are showing you must not have provided inventory values for all of the ingredients included in your recipes and the inventory value must be enough inventory to make the recipe.
When I was originally testing this feature I had the same issue, none of my recipes were showing. I finally discovered that I had not provided an inventory amount for my PG ingredient. My PG ingredient was set to 0 mls.

WhiteHighlights and ibndevilish, if you uncheck the "Available Inventory" box and scroll through your recipes: are the names all in red?

Mine are all in black lettering. I seem to have more of a issue of it keeping what I add for ingredients and recipes . I can't seem to edit the recipe like if I want to use the same flavor but a different brand. Will post a pic like where it shows cappella cake batter and if I wanted to change it to TFA cake batter it will show I don't have that in my inventory which I do and then it will go back to all my old ingredients like when I had wizards lab nicotine and right now I deleted that as I don't have that anymore. So just reverts back to stuff I used to have when I first started using this calculator. I'm stumped.

Based on your screen shot (the title bar of the window) I think I know what your problem is. Each time you create a recipe you are doing a “File->Save As”.

The calculator stores all of your ingredients and all of your recipes in one single file. Each time you do a "File->Save As" you are creating a new file with a snapshot of the ingredients and recipes that you are currently working with. The title bar will always tell you what file you are currently working with.

You don’t want to create a new file for each recipe. After you create a recipe if you click the “Save” button or the “File->Save” (not Save-As) to save the updates that you made to the file that you are working in.

An example of what you want to do is to do a “File->Save as” and give it a name such as “All of my recipes”. Now go in and add/modify your recipes and ingredients and click the “Save” or the “File->Save”. This will always update the “All of my recipes” file. So long as you keep opening the same file ("All of my recipes") each time you launch the calculator your ingredients and recipes will always be in the file.

Hmm that could be it. I thought we had to use the save as. I will try that. So now should I delete all of my save as and go back and just click just the save button instead? Also would this cause all of my ingredients to not save? thanks for the help also as I like this program.
If you created and saved Recipe1 and then added ingredients and Recipe2 and saved Recipe2 and then reopened Recipe1, the ingredients you added when you saved Recipe2 would not be in the Recipe1 file. This would cause the appearance of your ingredients not saving.

You should delete the other files but first, lets fix everything and get everything in one file.

When you installed the calculator it put another icon on your desktop called "FileMaintenance". Close the calculator and launch the FileMaintenance.

In the FileMaintenance program open the file that you want to be your "Master copy" as File 1.

Now open one of your other files as File 2.

If you have recipes in File 2 that are missing from File 1, drag the recipe from the File 2 display and drop it on the File 1 display. Do this for all missing recipes. Notice that the missing ingredients associated with the recipe will also be added to File 1 if they are not already there. NOTE: When you drag use the right mouse button to drag so that you "Copy" instead of "Move".

If you have missing ingredients in File 1, drag the ingredients from File 2 and drop them on File 1.

Click the File 1 "Save" button to save the changes you just made.

Repeat this process for all of the other files that you created (open them as File 2).

Now you should have all of your missing recipes and ingredients in one file.

Close the FileMaintenance program and relaunch the calculator. If your master file is not already opened, do a "File->Open" and open the master file.

You can now delete all of the other files that you no longer need.

On last suggestion, make sure you are creating backups. You can do this automatically by going to "Tools->Options" and select the "Backup options" tab. Check the "Turn on automatic backups" and select the frequency that you want the backups to occur.

HotRod, this could be part of the problem, I think I'm missing PG as well. I picked a basic recipe, did an add back to inventory and a bunch of recipes showed up.

The other part though is if I do a view->current inventory I can't find any flavors in inventory at all, even ones the just popped up when I did the add back to inventory above.

Hmmm, that is supposed to show all of your ingredients. Could you email me a copy of your xml file so I can check it out? You can send it to JuiceCalculator@austin.rr.com

BTW HotRod - thank you for this calculator and all you do. It is the absolute best (even if it just caught me with a user error, d'oh!). I've tried several others along the way and this wins hands down. Hopefully others will make a contribution to you as I have done. You've earned it and I appreciate it.
