If you created and saved Recipe1 and then .

Thank you for all the help, My son and I fixed everything ( Hanging head in shame) I guess I screwed up a bunch of stuff when I was saving my files and what have you. I was doing the save as since I started using the program so I wasn't doing it right. But finally all sorted. I feel like a idiot but I thought you were suppose to do the save as thing and name the recipe ( Laughing now at myself) but that is not the case..lol Again thank you so much for all your help.

I am glad we got it working. I was worried the program was loosing your recipes and ingredients. Good luck and let me know if you run across any problems.

Well I had another program similar to this and for every recipe you had to do the save as is for everything. So I thought this worked the same. This one is much better so I stick with it. Thank goodness it was a easy fix..Well easy for you to tell mehow to fix it. Hard on me as I screwed up so bad..lol But again thank!!

Will do -- probably tomorrow. I saved the contact info. The husband is insisting on going out for dinner. Long week and there's a mai tai in the offing to tempt me!
I just responded to your email, let me know if that resolves the issues you were having with the inventory display.

Here is some information that others may find useful when using the inventory features of the calculator.

In the “Tools->Options” window, “Ingredients default” tab there are two checkboxes:
  • Display inventory messages – When checked the calculator will show warnings and messages related to your inventory amounts.
  • Display inventory amounts – When checked a new column will be displayed on the recipe window. This column will show how much inventory you have remaining for each ingredient.
In order to see the messages related to “below inventory threshold” you need to setup a threshold for each ingredient. On the “Ingredients” window there is a field labeled “Inventory alarm threshold”. When set to 0, alarms are disabled for the ingredient. If other than 0, when the amount in inventory falls below this amount you will see warning message.

When are inventory messages displayed:
  • On the recipe window – When you display a recipe, if there is not enough of the ingredient's inventory remaining to make the recipe you will see a message in the “Warnings and errors” area stating “xxx – Not enough in inventory”.
  • On the recipe window – When you click the “Inventory” button and choose to reduce inventory, a message box will open telling you that the ingredient is below the threshold value.
  • On the “View->Inventory” window – All ingredients that are below their threshold will display the “Alarm value” column in red. Also note; you can click any column header on this window and sort the list by that column. Click it a second time and it will sort in the other direction.
  • When you launch the program – You will get a warning message telling you that you have ingredients below their threshold.

Got your message, thanks! Here's the bit I was missing from your email in case it helps someone else who has a blonde senior moment and forgets the functionality built into the calcultor:

- When the inventory list is displayed the ingredients are not sorted in any particular order. If you click a column header the list will sort in the order of that column. For instance if you click the “Ingredient Name” column header it will sort alphabetically by that column. Click the column header again and it will sort that column in reverse order.

- Click the “Remaining” column header (probably two times) so that the arrow in the header points down. You will see all of the ingredients that have inventory remaining displayed at the top of the list.

I had presumed (d'oh) that the inventory list was in alpha order so when I added to inventory a flavor starting with 'a', for example, that it would show at the top of the list. Instead it would seemingly disappear. Now I know to click on the 'Remaining' column header.

I haven't added the threshold alarms, for now I just add to my shopping list (a dangerous, favorite option) as I notice the bottle getting low. I still have a bunch of flavors to add to my inventory too.

Thank you so much for your support and your patience with user errors.

This is the only calculator that I know of that has this feature, so I would not call it a fault on your behalf to not know this. Glad you mentioned it for others, as I can see this catching other persons off guard as well. :)

Not sure if this is a bug or a limitation of the database.
When I search recipe by an ingredient and select entry in the results the program automatically loads that recipe into the main window. However if I have show only recipes with inventory available it doesn't load any of the resulting recipes.
It sounds like a bug. I will investigate.

Can you post a screenshot? I think I know what the issue is, but want to confirm.
Here you go! Thanks.

In the Ingredients Editor, the entry for "VG" shows "VG %" as 50%. This isn't editable. Shouldn't this be 100%?

Maybe I'm missing something, but wanted to ask. Thanks.
I don't know what has caused this. There is nothing in the application that allows editing of the VG percentage in a VG ingredient type. The good news is that the calculator does not use this value when calculating the VG to add to a recipe, 100% is always assumed for the VG entry.

The only way that I know to resolve the value that is being displayed is to edit the XML file directly. If you open the XML file in an editor (such as notepad), do a search for "<Name>VG</Name>". About 3 lines below the "Name" entry is an entry labeled "<DefaultVGPercentage>". Your value is probably set at ".5". Change it to a "1".

I am not sure how to tackle this one. When you perform the search function it shows all recipes that contain the ingredient and when you click one of the recipes it displays the recipe and allows changes to be made.
In the recipe window you have checked the "Available Inventory" and the recipe you are selecting in the search results does not have available inventory.
One thought is for the program to uncheck the "Available Inventory" when the search window is launched.

This is odd. Before seeing your last post I renamed my XML file, restarted Recipe Calculator, and VG is listed as 50% in Ingredient Editor.

Next, new install: I uninstalled, re-downloaded, and installed the program. Removed the XML file and it's folder. After starting the program and going directly to Ingredient Editor, VG is STILL listed as 50%. ??? Where's the program getting the "50%"? Maybe the registry?

The value listed in the add/update ingredient screen is indeed 100%, with "VG" as the type, so I guess calculations will be OK.

EDIT: I just installed a portable instance. Same result: 50%

Diyguy does your VG ingredient allow for editing of the PG/VG in the Ingredients window or is it greyed out as below and is the VG radio button checked under Ingredient Type?

View attachment 483708

In my Add or update ingredient window VG can not be updated, lists as "VG" and 100%, and is greyed out, like your image shows.

I was able to make it happen! Let me investigate and see what is going on.

Version 6.0.0.9 is available for download. It fixes two issues:

1. When selecting recipes in the "Edit->Search for recipes" window, the recipe would not be displayed in the main window if the "Available inventory" was checked and the selected recipe in the search window did not have enough inventory.

2. When a new "Juice" file was created the PG and VG entries were being initialized to a 50% value instead of 100%. Fixed. Existing files will be automatically corrected when the file is opened by this version or later versions of the calculator.
