New Calculator to try

Thank you. That explains it. Please excuse my lack of knowledge with computer stuff. One more question if I may.

So I have the calculator downloaded on my windows laptop. Does it now have to be WiFi connected to work? ie, could I take it somewhere with no internet access and still use it?

If you have it download you do not need internet access to install or to use it.

No luck in the good e-juice yet, but with the accuracy of this program each juice is equally and predictably bad . Actually, my mixes are starting to turn out much better now and I have some at least vapeable flavors, but this program is amazing... everything from getting my nic levels correct to printing labels on my samples. Great work!

One quick question. Is there a way to export my ingredient list? I would like to have a list in Excel without having to re-enter all my ingredients. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, there is a "Tools->Export to Excel" option. Although it prompts for current recipe or all recipes it will always export all of your ingredients.

Thanks HotRod!! I never tried to export a recipe because I was looking for an export ingredients. You just saved me a lot of work, now I don't have to retype my ingredient list for my labeling system. Thanks soooo much!

Just wanted to swing in and say thanks for the calculator. I thought it was going to be a PITA to get all my ingredients put in but it wasn't bad at all. I've got just over 100 flavors and it only took me about a half hour to get them set up thanks to you allowing the user to set the defaults for new items. Nice forethought there!

I used ejuice me up until now but since I'm mixing by weight I needed the features you've built into this one. One real nice benefit is to be able to select my ingredients from the drop down when creating new recipes. Saves some typing and also makes sure that you're using the same exact description for each ingredient.

Being a programmer myself, I really appreciate the time and thought you've put into this.

A shortcut in the drop downs. You can start typing the ingredient you want, and after a couple of letters, the list is autofiltered to match.

Hotrod, I'd like to humbly request a feature. I'd ran across your software over on reddit's DIY_ejuice subreddit and I was pretty excited when I discovered that it had label printing. Could you possibly add a feature to include an image on the label? I have some Avery 5160 labels that I'd love to use if I can add graphics to my labels. Maybe a .jpg or whatever file type works best there. If you added that, an orientation for the image would be beneficial as well, in terms of aligning the text/margin to account for an image on the left side of a label, etc.

I have just made version 4.0.0.1 available for download. The changes are all related to printing labels. A summary of the changes:

• Allow different fonts and colors to be set for each field placed on the label.
• When labels are printed the text in the label will be centered vertically in the label.
• Images can be selected and printed on the label.
• You can print multiple labels for multiple recipes.
• Two new options were added to the Options Window Print Defaults tab. Those options allow you to choose a format of the date that is printed in the label and allow you to choose to use millimeters instead of inches when updating the definitions associated with the layout of your label sheets.

I left the older version of the label printing available (File->Print Label). The older version will be removed in a future version after I feel all issues of the new version have been flushed out.
The newer version of the label printing is available by selecting “File->Print Label Advanced”. In order to print a label you must

1. Select the type of labels you will be printing (Paper Type)
2. Select a predefined label layout that you want to use
3. Select the recipe that you want to generate a label for
4. Select the label(s) on the paper that you want to print (row and column number)

• 
  As you will see, the label printing is getting to be rather complex. My fear is that the Calculator program is getting somewhat complicated to use and beginners may have a difficult time using the program. Any feedback on how to simplify the use of the program is appreciated.
• You must select a “Paper Type” which is the same as the previous version. There are pre-defined paper types for some of the common label papers such as Avery labels.
• You must define how you want your label printed. There is a “Manage Labels” button available to launch a window to layout your label. All labels you define are saved and can be reused in the future. This is where you define what fields to be included in the label, what lines to place the fields on, the font and color to use when printing the field and the image to be printed on the label.
• You must select the Recipe you want to print each label for.
• You select the row/column of where you want to print the label on your label paper.

As you will see, the label printing is getting to be rather complex. My fear is that the Calculator program is getting somewhat complicated to use and beginners may have a difficult time using the program. Any feedback on how to simplify the use of the program is appreciated.

Perhaps you could have a basic mode with just a simple calculator (similar to e-juice me up) and then an advanced mode with manage ingredients, printing, etc.? Just a thought.

Thanks for the update, HotRod..... Your concern about the program becoming too complex is justified. For someone starting DIY juice mixing I'm afraid their eyes would spin in their sockets...lol. Not running down the program, it's just that there are so many bells and whistles that are extremely useful to those who have mixed for a while but aren't needed by a tyro.
As Spazzer suggested having a Basic module and Advanced or whatever to call it would be one way to go at it or maybe even modules sort of like AutoCad. I'm not a coder so have no idea how hard it would be to implement.
The more I use your program, the more I'm impressed with both your skills and the programs power. I'm heading to mixing by weight and your proggie will be invaluable.... Thanks again and I hope you take my comments in the spirit they were made.... trying to help....
