Wow, is all I can say. I just finished reading ALL of the pages in this thread. It's taken me 3 1/2 days to get through them all. So much awesome info and help in here. We are so excited to begin using this program. We are in total awe that this is free. Thanks so much to HotRod for all of your hard work, and to all of the users who have contributed their time, web space, and effort giving feedback to make this a total DIY Masterpiece.

I really hope that each person using this has/will contribute, as I know we surly will.

Thanks so much, and yea, thanks to you and other's for all of their questions, looks like we shouldn't have too much trouble getting started. I also thought a neat idea for us to contribute as users to help each other out would be to share our ingredients lists as to help newer users get a good head start. Pay it Forward kinda thing, ya know? ;)

What About disaster recovery? I see that you can restore a backup but it seems to only back up the Recipes, not the inventory.

Very good recovery. I was away from home all summer, and when I got back I ran all of the Windows 8.1 updates, and all of the Norton updates, and completely messed up the system and programs. Acer had a utility that let me wipe out all of the programs but keep my files. I was kind of dubious but had no choice.

So I ran the cleanup, up(?)graded to Windows 10 (which I was going to wait a while on) and started reinstalling everything. I did a fresh download of this calculator, opened it up and every recipe, ingredient, etc. was right there. :D

Almost every other program I reinstalled made me go out and hunt for docs. So yes, great disaster recovery. Now obviously recovering from physical damage would be a different thing, but I'm going to do an occasional backup to a thumb drive just in case.

Do you see this happen all of the time? Can you make it happen?
Unfortunately no, it seems to be quite random :(

I've noticed it before on a number of flavors - saying I had more than what I could see left in a bottle - but I just chalked it up as maybe I forgot to subtract from inventory. But it's getting more and more pronounced and I know I don't forget to subtract that often LOL.

It also just happened last night with my nic base. I made a dilution of 27mL of 100mg down to 30mg, so I had 90mL of base. Made 3 30mL (2-12mg, 1-18mg) bottles, 1 60mL (12mg) bottle and was gonna make another 60mL @ 12mg to finish it up. The calc said I had 24mL remaining, which would have been exactly enough. But when I added that to a bottle, it turned out to be only 20mL, so I had to make a 50mL instead.

I'm completely confuzzled at this point.

Can you help me fix this error message? Every time I try to save something I get that error message. When I close the program everything is lost

Thanks for replying. I'm running Windows Vista, and yes it still does it.
The File save as performs the same function as you saving the existing file. Where is the file that doesn't save located at? Can you open the file that is causing you problems and the do a file save as?

There are no files for me to save. I loose everything every time I close the program. Also, when I add ingredients, add manufacturers, or try to save changes to defaults I get the same error.
I thought you said that the file save as worked right after launching the program. When the program first launches and you do a save as it is creating a file with two ingredients, the Pg and VG. The title bar of the window will show you the name of the file that you are working with.

Add a couple of new ingredients and do another save, see if that works.

It's the NET4 framework causing the problem. An edit of the app.config and removing reference to 4 (replace with 2) seems to be the suggested solution for Vista.

It relates to the granting of trust for all apps in the NET framework. I haven't had to deal with this for a while, but you can alternatively grant all apps full trust. However, I personally do not recommend you do this for security reasons. The app.config route is much better.

HotRod: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...or-after-changing-target-framework-of-project. MSDN has an article about full trust in sandbox conditions. I can provide that if you wish to research it.

The good news is that there is a fix for it without you needing to upgrade your Windows version. Let's give HotRod the opportunity to review the info I have provided so you will know what the next steps are to get the calculator working for you.
