What is the best way to update an ingredient? Meaning, let's say I have 10 ml of strawberry that costed $5. Now i made a new order and I have a new 30 ml bottle of it that I paid $15 for. What's the best way to add that in for cost and add to inventory? I haven't came up with a good solution aside from once bottle 1 is complete I'll add in the new stock. Don't want to add in 2 TFA strawberries.
Is your goal an accurate price? If so, just take your remaining ml that cost $5 and divide it to get the amount per remaining ml (if 5ml left, would be $2.50) add in your new bottle (30ml at $15) to get 35ml at $17.50. Remove all from inventory (edit ingredient window), then add in 35ml at $17.50 to inventory.
I am not that particular on exact cost per ml, I just add the new bottle at its new cost to inventory. It throws off the cost per ml of the old inventory (converts old remaining inventory cost per ml to be the same as the new inventory cost per ml) but doesn't impact my batch made cost by more than a few pennies.
OK gang. I need your help. I am going through my flavoring inventory and trying to tidy up my listings on the JuiceCalculator. Until now I have not used the "Folder" option on the majority of my 200+ flavors.
So here are my questions:
1. Is the "Folder" cell functional?
(The "Folder" cell can be found in the "Ingredients" tab; third line/cell from the top. And also in the "Ingredient Editor")
I know I can type in pretty much whatever I want and as long as I click the Save button, that ingredient will be attached to that "Folder," but I don't see any functionality beyond that.
1a. Can I sort ingredients by Folder label?
1b. Can I bring up a list of ingredients assigned to a particular folder?
I thought it would be helpful if I could group my flavorings into categories (ie. Fruits, Creams & Custards, Chocolates & Vanillas, Tobaccos, etc.). I'm all good for the obvious "single note" flavors like Apple (Fruit) or 555 (tobacco). But I don't know how to handle crossover flavors like Banana Cream (it's a Fruit and It's a Cream) or Vanilla Bourbon (it's a Vanilla and it's a Liqueur).
The obvious in me says pick the most dominant and forget about any secondaries. But it would really be nice if I could cross reference them. So when I am building a recipe and I know it needs a "Cream," but I don't know which one in particular I want, I can look at all my Creams and Custards as a group/category/folder and perhaps be inspired to try something I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
Which leads me to my final question:
2. Can I attach an ingredient to more than one Folder.
I love the JuiceCalculator and all of the included features. The inventory management is second to none. If grouping flavors is outside the realm of "doable;" I can live with that. I imagine I can cobble something together in a spreadsheet. I was just hoping that since most of the information was already present that there might be a way.

Folders - Go to the Tools->Options, Ingredient defaults tab, and select "Display ingredients by category". Now when you are selecting ingredients to add to a recipe you will notice that the ingredients are grouped by the folder name that you provided. An ingredient can only be contained in one folder.
Of course! The one place I forget to check. Go figure!
Exactly what I was hoping for.Bummer on the `one folder only' limitation. I'm not sure if I'm odd man out on this; but it would be nice if `multi-folder' linking found its way into a future update (presuming it's even doable).

I've been trying to figure this one out as well.
Some people call things TFA others TPA or as you stated CAP or Capella when they post their recipes. It would be nice if the program could understand CAP and Capella are the same thing and not add it to the shopping list during an import... causing you to go in and change the imported recipe to the ingredient on your current inventory and deleting the newly added ingredient due to a misnaming or different use of abbreviated product listings.
Is there a way for the program to accept CAP as the same as Capella and vice versa?
Tutor, I'm going to guess that trying to capture CAP vs Capella could mess up things like CAPpuccino. The variations that people do like TFA/TPA flavor xxx or flavor xxx TFA/TPA or just flavor xxx make it even worse to try to recognize it automatically. If you're doing a one off import recipe, there could be an accept/change option (?), but that would be a pain if you're bringing in many recipes at once. I have no clue if that's a worthwhile option or not.
Full disclosure: I haven't done an import from other programs since my initial batch a year ago. Then I just did Edit->Search and Replace to clean up the differences. Now I just key in my recipes to maintain my flavor naming conventions. It's usually quick to input.

While I am asking for Folder tweaks; is there, or can there be, a means to edit/delete folders please and thank you? (I did just discover removing or re-assigning all ingredients out of a Folder; the Folder will self-delete.)

Actually I was thinking that in the "Manufactures" area the aliases for what would be used to distinguish what would be applicable for what to allow would have been the optimum location to include matches for the additions to be added for an ingredient.
Long-time lurker, puffer, and juice hoarder here. Forgive me if this has already been discussed. I use this wonderful calculator the few times i've made ejuice from scratch, but my situation is that i have a lot of juices that now have too much nic and PG so most often i am mixing ejuices + PG, VG, and flavorings just to dilute the nicotine and PG. Juice Calculator has a simple calculator for mixing 2 ejuices, but sometimes i have more than 2! so a while back i wrote a spreadsheet to handle up to 9 nicquids + PG and VG. This may not be the purview of JC, especially since once i mix the juices, i don't have those ingredients any more, but I just thought i would mention a refinement for the simple calculator that could be handy.
Version 7.0.0.9 is available. Changes include:
1. Added a new option, Tools->Options, Ingredient defaults, "Lock ingredients window". When the ingredients window is opened all fields are locked until the "lock" icon is clicked to unlock them.
2. When displaying current inventory, any ingredients marked as deactivated will not be shown.
3. Added the ability to assign alias values to manufacturers in the "Edit->Maintain manufacturer list". The aliases are then used when importing recipes to attempt to resolve the manufacturer name. If an ingredient starts or ends with a provided alias the alias will be removed from the ingredient name and the ingredient will be assigned to the manufacturer.

Help me better understand what you are doing?
Do you want something that will allow you to specify PG/VG ratio along with nic level and volume of several mixes and then tell you the resulting PG/VG ratio, nic level and total volume of the resulting mix?
Or, do you want to identify several existing recipes defined in the calculator along with a volume for that recipe and then show you the resulting values when mixed?
The former is what I want, plus possibly the amount of PG/VG to add to result in a target nic level, like another of the simple calculators. So this would be like combining 2 simple calculators, "determine nicotine level..." & "determine PG/VG level after mixing...", opening it up to allow more than 2 mixes (a button to "add another"?), and using the answer in the "determine amount...to add...to obtain desired nic level" simple calculator.
I have and can continue to use these simple calculators manually, and my spreadsheet, but thanx for considering this, & thanx for Juice Calculator!

Thanks a lot for this, must be the most comprehensive tool of DIY flavoring.
I just had an issue with (Print Label Advanced). When trying to print different labels at the same time, the last label added was printed in all defined locations. Did I miss something?
