I just got new cartomizers and the mega battery for my Joye 510 and what a difference. The amount of vapor and increase in flavor is remarkable. I strongly suggest this to all newbies, like myself, it's amazing. Now I have questions for you about can you clean cartomizers, how ofter do you add juice, and what does it mean when it sizzles???

Sizzle is good - when they are new and vaporzing their best you hear sizzling

Don't count on cleaning them. Some people are successful and some are not. You may be successful or not. In any case, buy enough blanks to not run out. If you resurrect some well-used ones then that is a gift.

My juices have to earn cartomizers. Only juices I like enough to vape for weeks get cartos.

What kind of carto are you using? I use Boge 510 standard resistance (since the LR has the potential to damage slim batteries). I love the Boges. I usually alternate vaping a pair of them and and can often get 2-3 weeks use out of each that way.

I find thinner juices seem to make the carto last longer. I am now going to buy 80pg/20vg more often because some of my 70pg/30vg juices are thicker and seem to make the carto more sluggish at vaporizing and dragging. I use a thin clear juice from Vapor4Life (WOWbacco) and the carto looks like new for many refills.

Excellent advice dormouse.
If it ever starts to taste "funky" you are probably getting too dry. Keeping it wet appears to be the key to success with cartos. I use them exclusively now. After awhile, you will just "know" when it's time to top off again.
We all live and learn, so don't feel bad if you screw one up by not filling it in time. Before you know it, you'll be a pro at using them.:thumb:

Yes, dont worry if you mess one up here or there. I've been doing this since October and I just had to toss a couple cartos that I thought were cleaned ok. They just had a funky burned taste, probably the filler material inside was singed. Just be sure to keep plenty of extras on hand and you'll quickly learn though experience.

I use them exclusively except for testing juices. Testing I do with dripping on an atty and rarely I do an extended test with a cart+atty.

Re getting juice on the end of the manual 510 - you still want avoid that because it can cause a short between the center pole and the threaded edge and will cause the battery to flash and not work (temporarily). If it ever seems to be flashing for no reason then check for liquid on the end of the battery and clean it up including the valley between the pole and the threaded edge (a tissue folded into a point will clean up in that valley). And as always, make sure the end of your battery is clean and dry before putting the battery on a charger or in a PCC.
