Hi guys
Just giving a heads up to everyone here. I just caught a transaction from a company called JHD PRODUCTIONS. It was only for $0.53, but it's still bad. So i googled it and found a few posts about it. Some people have been charged for much more a week after the initial low charge on their credit card. By the way this was charged on my CC on April 5th. I did not notice it till today.

I got hit by one of these not too long ago. Phishing scam. Small charge followed up by bigger charges. I caught it, but my bank couldn't do anything about it because it was pending. Once I got charged for several plane tickets from Ireland I went and raised hell. No harm done, but a major PITA.

AmEx only for online shopping now. God help anyone that tries to scam them. They go after these kind of things hard.

Not sure who you guys have your CCs through, but Bank of America has their ShopSafe system (carried over from the MBNA acquisition). Essentially, you go to their online banking site and can generate a 'fake' credit card number that links back to your own, with a spending limit and expiration date - and you can 'close' the number whenever you want. So even though my CC has a certain limit, I can create a 'ShopSafe' card with a $50 limit (or whatever), that expires in a month (or whenever). If nothing else, it limits your exposure to fraud.

That's what I've been using when buying from someone I'm not 100% sure of. Works out perfectly, and keeps your real credit card number off the internet...and it's a free service, so that's even better.

I added a picture below - as you can see, you get a generated credit card number (I blurred most of it), but you set the spending limit and expiration date - so no matter what, the most you're out is the value of the card.
