Ok so, actually 'joined' in 2012. I spent a considerable amount of time lurking and learning. Bought a 510 kit to begin with, 30 cartos and 12 batteries later, switched to eGo style. In only a few months I had managed to spend almost twice as much on juice and kit as I did buying analogs. But, I had cut down on smoking enough to know that vaping was my best chance at quitting analogs got good. Then we moved...

I had all my kit packed up, but magically, it all disappeared after getting back to the States. Hundreds of dollars gone to the Turkish movers (along with a few other things, plus plenty of damages ).

Now I'm back, and deciding to give vaping another go because I just don't want to smoke anymore. I have stayed caught up with the science of nicotine/tobacco addiction (especially smoked) and think I finally understand why I've always failed to quit before:

1 Particle size. Smoke is just more efficient at delivering addictive components than other delivery methods, by a HUGE margin.

2 Because of no1, delivery system is much more rapid. Therefore a faster, bigger spike in addictive components. Delivery speed seems to play a really big role.

3 Relatively recent study (don't have the citation handy) showed nicotine was nowhere near as addictive as tobacco smoke, pointing toward other alkaloids that seem to cooperate in the addiction process.

Armed with this knowledge, I am awaiting delivery of a new Kanger Subox Mini, with all the tidbits (batteries, charger, extra coils, etc.) I also have a few ml's of WTA juice already waiting.

Now the question: Could I use a low resistance old school carto with this mod? Thing is, the mini tanks are super expensive, and I know I'm going to need to try different liquids to find the 'right' one for me. I really don't want to spend $30 on a new tank any time I want to try a new flavor. I really just want to sample, not vape all day on them.

Thanks in advance, and thanks ECF members for being awesome!

I am very sorry for your mischance. If I were you I would call a turkish friend for to help your moving. Unfortunately I live in a country that even ministers and president are accused of stealing.
I would suggest a RDA for your liquid testing purpose. I dont think it is that much of a cost. and you can wash and use any time you want to try a new liquid.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your moving troubles. You can use old school cartos with most mods, as long as you obey ohm's law and keep within the limits of your batteries and mod. Use Steam Engine or some similar calculator to help you figure out what you can and cannot run on your mod. Read up on everything, check resistances, check voltages after charging batteries, all that jazz. Basically just be safe and smart about it. If you are talking about something like the old 1.5 Ohm Cisco ones, they should work fine. Again know what you are doing before you just toss something on and try it.

No worries. I have lived in Germany and Japan also, movers are movers. German movers stole a really nice Nikon of mine, Americans stole an entire toolbox once, so my moving experience does not reflect those countries. Türkiye çok gözel! Thanks for looking out.

Good advice, it's why I came to the experts first before slapping some sloppy kit together and lighting my beard on fire! :D Thanks for the help, and pointing toward Steam Calculator. I'd not heard of it, but will definitely check it out!

I am happy that you liked Türkiye.
Consider getting a small RDA Atomiser. Not the best one, only for tasting purpose

Anytime, Steam Engine has helped me out quite a bit in understanding that stuff. If you are not afraid of doing a little Math you can calculate yourself and compare, etc... If you are ever in doubt, run things by folks here as well before you try it for some extra comfort. Better safe than sorry. Also browse through the ECF Library It has some good info on safety and vaping in general.
