First off let me briefly introduce myself. If you want to head straight to the question, scroll down a bit My name is AJ. I am a 25 year old college student finishing his bachelors. I smoked for 6 years, 1 pack a day starting with cloves, to lucky strike unfiltered, to marlboro 27's, to roll your own. I am now 2 weeks quit from cigarettes so far using the eon smoke e-cig but I can tell this wont satisfy me in the long run, but it was cheap and easy to buy. However, the important thing is I am now off analog cigarettes and will never go back to those death sticks, and I have my foot into the door of e-cigs.

Now for my question. I have been doing a TON of research on my next PV. Budget for me is a big concern being a broke college student so I have sort of decided on using an atomizer and dripping. Here in lies my question. After doing this research I have decided and will be purchasing an eGo Twist 650mAh from altsmoke along with the ego charger. That was the easy decision. I have run into a road block of what atomizer I should buy, and how many. I'm looking for something that will be pretty discreet and form factor with the ego twist battery. Something that fits in with my budget being not too expensive to purchase, easy to use, long lasting, simple to clean etc (Basically something that's not so cheap it breaks after a week, but not so expensive I can't afford it). I figure the atomizer dripping combo will be the most inexpensive in the long run. I simply don't know what atomizer to buy that is good, what resistance, and what drip tips etc (don't like the feeling of metal in my mouth and on my teeth).

Reason I figure I don't want to go the cartomizer route, is because they are a hassle to refill (need to carry a tool to open them up, paper towels to clean any mess and it's just an extra step than simply dripping onto the atomizer). I don't want a big bulky tank to carry around with me and add even more expense to my already tight budget. I am however not against anyone convincing me one way or the other, I am really here for any advice you can give me, even if it's to tell me that my assumptions are wrong.

That's my story, any help would be appreciated and I look forward to meeting you guys here on the forum. The world of e-cigs is a great one, albeit confusing to get started in.

Hi priestizzle and welcome to ECF.

You're going to need 2 Twists when one is on the charger so it's really not cost efficient IMO.
100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge.
I figure the atomizer dripping combo will be the most inexpensive in the long run.
Actually sometimes a hassle to vape.

Actually you can fill a bunch of them up, put the condoms/ caps on and store in a Tic Tacs container to take along. Crystal Clear Vaping has free shipping.
The long term cheapest delivery system would be the rebuidable Vivi Nova Tank
GotVapes™ Tanks : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more
As for a PV if you want a cig sized PV the best out there is the Volt

Are you prepared to wait for a couple hours every time you've used that Twist for 3 hours? If you are going to rely on a Twist as your main e-cig, you better buy 2 of them.. They only have about a 3 hour run time. What will you do for 2 hours out of every 5 hours in the day? That's your first mistake. A Twist is o.k. for a cheap 2nd or 3rd e-cig. It's not something to rely on unless you have two of them and, even then, the short run time of the 650 is no better than one of the little cigarette look alikes from Volt.

You could get a 1000mah Twist, but you still have the problem of what to use while it recharges, and it's ridiculously long, like a baton.

Then, the atomizer thing. Atomizers are expensive, even for a cheap one. Good atomizers are pretty expensive too. It's just not an economical way to go. A good atomizer will run you from $9-$25. The problem is that the $9 ones are very hard to get and always sold out. I would recommend one of the Clearomizers. You can use clearomizers over and over with different juices. They're easy to fill. You can fill several of them, put them in your pocket and take them with you. Unlike cartomizers, you don't have to top them off. You can run a clearomizer until it's empty and just refill it when you get home. The Phoenix line of clearomizers are very good for not leaking and having a good capacity.

About the Twist. Bad move unless you get two of them and if you can't get to a charger during the day, you better have three of them. You can drain two batteries in one day at school and when you get home, you won't have anything to vape until one of them charges back up.

You need a unit that takes separate, rechargeable batteries. It's also good to have something that you don't need to throw away when the batteries get weak and don't hold a charge very long anymore. You can get a compact, variable voltage PV with 7 or more hours of run time and carry a spare battery. Or you can get a larger unit that will last 16+ hours between charges. The cost would be about the same as the two Twists that would be the bare mimimum you could get away with.

Here is the Vtube. It is a full 3-6V PV, unlike the Twist that maxes out at 4.8V. It is not disposable. It takes separate batteries and has an LED readout for voltage and battery condition. It also has a one year warranty and will still be under warranty when your Twist is scheduled to die from age. Replacement batteries are $8 instead of $25-30 for a new Twist. It comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and will cost you $60 shipped, including two batteries and a charger.
This one, in the picture is the chrome version and shows the relative size of the "mini". It's $8 more.

Drip tips: Drip tips are available at any site for about $2-3. They are made of plastic, ceramic, metal or even glass. The most common are plastic. Just look for one that fits a 510 sized atomizer or cartomizer. That's the most common size.

Clearmizers: For cost effectiveness and long term cheapness, you can't beat the Vivi Nova tank. It's not bulky, you can carry it in a pocket because it's really hard to make it leak without trying. But it will be on your PV anyway. It holds 3ml or more so will last pretty much all day for a lot of people. The coil heads last a very long time, longer than a typical atomizer. If they burn out, you can replace them for about $2.50, or you can re-coil them in 5 minutes for a few cents worth of material. A Vivi Nova tank will pay for itself in a month with the savings over buying atomizers. One Vivi Nova costs about the same as 2 atomizers and comes with 3 coil heads.

Here is a pic. from Gotvapes. They will send you wick and wire if you ask with your order. Hoosierecigsupply.com has them for a few dollars cheaper.

I would recommend that you go for the 1000mAh Twist, and use the Eon as a backup until you can afford another Twist as a backup.
The price difference between 650 and 1000mAh batteries is not that great..

Dripping is a bit of a hassle imo, as you'll need towels every time you over-drip.
That's just a waste of juice..

The ViviNova is a great device, but as far as form factor goes, it just don't look that smooth with an eGo style battery.
I would recommend you a stardust type cleromizer, as a Kanger T3 or something like that..
Then you only have to change the atomizer head. (For me, one head will last about 3 weeks.)
The expense you'll have on heads is basically nothing compeered to buying a new atty every time it stops working. :)
The form factor is slick, filling and cleaning is easy.
Good luck! :)

I'm about 6 mos late in giving priestizzle my take on vaping. I started out with the Blu and through Youtube videos, I finally went with the Ego-C non-twist models. Although the 1100mah does look like a baton, it will last quite awhile before it needs charging. I decided on the Ego-C 1100mah passthrough and EGo-C 650mah. The passthrough lets you toke while it is in your hand charging at the computer, so there is a double benefit to that. The Vivi looks good and from videos I've watched, they're easy to re-coil. I've gone with the Kanger clearomizers as my choice. Holds 2.4ml of juice and has replaceable wicks, although I've learned how to rewick those and that is a cost savings for me, too. Now the good news is, I do my hardware purchases from a place called Sure Vapes. Not to endorse them or anything like that. I happened to hear about them from one of the videos on Youtube. Mats are inexpensive and shipping is free. Can't get any better than that when you need to save $$. Juices are a toss up. I've had good luck with a cigar flavoring by adding a little coffee flavor to that. All you can do there is shop around and bookmark every site you view and compare.

Well, thanks for the thread necro and advice. In the months since I posted, I went with 2 650 mAh ego twists. one basically lasts me all day and it's not too long for my pocket, like the 1000 mAh would be. I am asking for a 1000 mAh twist for chrismas for when I'm just sitting at my desk, but the 650's have worked fine for me and typically last longer than most have claimed they would. As for delivery devices, I have two 2.5 vivi nova's, 1 j-tank (hasn't seen much use since bogegate, those boge's really just aren't what they used to be) and a phoenix rebuildable that I use for boba's bounty, at least until boge's are better or a new carto arrives as good as the old boges were.

I really have had bad luck with the stardust style clearo's so I've just been sticking with the vivi's since they work great and look great with the cone shaped silver spacer covering the ego threads. I would like to try the mini vivi nova's, heard those work just as good. I just wish the vivi nova worked well with 100% vg. Every time I've tried my boba's in there i get burnt nasty hits all the time and it's not worth the hassle.

Sincroniccity, I also use surevapes for my vivi coil replacements. I live in NYC and they are in NJ, so it usually comes in 1-2 days, free shipping, can't beat that. +1 to that vendor for sure.

In the future I would love to get my hands on a provari, but I simply cant justify, or even come near affording that at the moment. My buddy grabbed one cheap off craigs list from a quitting vaper and it works great.

Thanks again everyone, and there's my little update =)

PS. - Shoutout to the NYC vaper's club. I have a bunch of fun at the meets I can make it to and it's always a good time to try out and share juices/devices.
