Hello,
My name is Jon, and i am looking forward to getting off tobacco. I used to smoke a pack a day of camel filters or lights for a few years. then i quit for 2 weeks on the gum. that did not work so i ended up smoking little cigars. the ones that are 100's with a filter and have been for many years. I do inhale and use them just like cigarettes. I smoke them half way down then save the other half for later. my idea of saving money i guess.

Well i ended up buying Blu Cigs and they suck. I am getting ready to send them back and find something better. I got 12mg carts with them and love the cherry flavor but 12mg is way to strong as i am getting buzzed quite a bit. i don't want to get more addicted. I am thinking maybe 6mg or less.

Anyway, what i am looking for is a e-cig that produces consistent vapor, and good vapor production. i don't need full cigar type smoke just like your normal cigarette. I have been pretty overwhelmed with all of the info so far. i need a good starter kit that is around the same size of a cigarette (preferably). would have lower nic carts available with the kit and i will try and learn how to refill my own carts and or maybe mix juices like 0 and 10mg to get 5mg if that is even possible. I would also like to know of some good places to get e juice.

the idea of a manual battery sounds nice.

again all of the info i have been reading is confusing. If i left something out please let me know. thank you for all your help!:)

Consider me your recycling center for Njoy Pro, Smoking Everywhere Gold, Cloud 9, Smoke 51 Trio, and DSE103 useless batteries.
Other hardware if it’s still usable.
Those I loan out to/give to thank you.

I have the Vapor King Shorty pcc kit from http://www.vapor4life.com/. I found it to produce good flavor and vapor. I used it with their Premium Cartomizers and filled with my own juice that I bought. I didn't care for their prefilled cartomizers all that much. I'm passing this unit on to a friend at work who has been trying to quit cigarettes.

I started off with the Blu as well, then the Vapor king, and now the Riva.

The 510 is also another popular choice around here. I can't comment on it as I have never owned one.

If your not dead set on a cigarette looking unit, I would seriously consider looking at either the Riva or Ego. Both are known to be great performing units with decent (6-10 hrs) battery life before needing a charge. My Vapor king on the other hand would only last about 1.5 hours.

You've come to the right place for info. I was researching on this site months before I settled on a 510 magma. Went with that brand (volcanocig.com) because of the warranty (1 yr limited) and I thought automatics would be more natural to what I was trying to replace. Any 510 will do and I use manuals too when I'm not working with my hands. Some great reviews here pointed me in the direction of a 510 as a starter. Not touched another analog since.

I've been hit and miss with e-juice suppliers and would like to know some good ones too. Thus far only tried like 5, so I can't endorse any one yet... still trying to hunt down those perfect flavors. Yeah you can mix a 12mg with a 0mg and get 6mg. What I found helpful when doing foam cart mods and getting refill tips was youtube, or you can search here, there's some mad scientist here when it comes to mixing.

If it absolutely should be cigarette-sized and no bigger, look at the m40x line, or possibly the 306 and Sidesho. With the m40x, I'd suggest the 401 if you're okay with something that feels like a 100, or the 402 if you still expect to need to lip-dangle (still somewhat heavy for that, but you can hold it without immediately injuring your teeth).

With those 'small' ('supermini', I think the categorizing goes) ones, you'll definitely need a couple batteries and definitely need to learn to refill, but it's not too hard at all.

If I were to repeat my original m402 + KR808D-1 purchase, I'd do something like:

m40x kit (2 atomizer kit, and/or add 2 more spares)
...with "PCC" (charging case)
10+ cartridges (2 or 3 packs) ... prefilled if you want, but this rapidly becomes a don't-bother

KR808D-1 'kit', anything that gives 2 batteries + charger
...with PCC, particularly because I don't like the friction-fit USB charger there, or a 901 wall-charger
10-15 cartomizers [might as well get prefilled, at least the fill lasts a day]
901 atomizer [KR808D-1 batteries are basically 901 batteries plus vents for cartomizers]
901 cartridges [1 pack, can always get more]

Liquids - this is tough, but you need one of each strength around to figure out where your sweet spot is. Guess at 2 or 3 flavors to start; it's hard to go wrong with tobacco and apple, for instance. I'm a big Johnson Creek fan, but that's what you jump for next after you find out if this stuff works for you.

One pack of 'facial scrubber' 'puff' sponges from Walgreens or Wal-Mart when it comes time to replace the cartridge fluff. (And a single box of jumbo paperclips, which provides material for 100 "m40x refill tool"s. :))

This would be enough to try pretty much every common style - the 901 and 510 are close enough that you can certainly 'get the idea' with the 901 piece if you take as readily to it as I did.

The m40x is great for those times you don't want something big and weird-looking, and for the initial it-has-to-be-as-cigarette-like-as-possible phase. After 5+ months at it, I'm using the slightly larger pieces more often.

Depending on money, the alternative is to do as I did, focus on the m40x line and add bits and pieces here and there, later get some $9 "disposable" 510 clones to hand out/stash for emergencies, then add on the 'real' larger parts later and realize how bad the disposables' batteries are!

After you break even, it gets easier to say 'okay, I'll try one more kit, it's cheaper than a carton and I haven't spent that much in more than a month.' With all my purchases, this year I think I'm destined to spend around half what I did on tobacco, between hardware and liquids and replacement batteries... and half is still a pretty good savings!

...

Good luck, and let us know how you make out!

Actually.. let me add to that; it's odd that you're getting buzzed from the Blu yet figure it sucks. The 40x is probably pretty much like a more-reliable Blu, so maybe take me with a grain of salt there. I tend to run more around 16mg+ in the 40x and try to aim for 16 or less in the larger ones ... and meanwhile, you're inhaling little cigars, which would make me sick!

Maybe you need to work on pacing yourself [set a timer, or count puffs and stop after 15 or so] ... or maybe something else is up (like the Blu atomizer getting gunky, or you were running it dry, especially if sticking to prefilled carts).

Try getting a less 'polarizing' flavor of liquid than cherry, maybe [some of the fruity ones are oversweetened for my taste], in lower strengths and an equivalent one, learn how to clean out and refill the Blu carts and see if that was it. Otherwise, you might find some of the bigger models put out *more* vapor than you want... or maybe it's that you'd actually prefer something that runs 'cooler'/smoother, which I guess would make a case for those 'disposable' Q-Cig 510s, and one or two of those would be the cheapest way to branch out.

I sent the Blu's back today. I do inhale filter cigars. I have no idea how much nic is actully in them though but i do know there is some in it. i had to stay away from them when i got my wisdom teeth out and went insane. then after 38 hours i lit up and smoked through my nose and all was good. lol

I really think the 12mg carts i got with the blu's were just to strong. Meaning it is possible there is next to nothing on my cigars. they are labeled "mild's" and have air holes in the filter but we all know that does not mean anything. everyone covers the holes with their lips. the last time i smoked a cig after using the cigars it just felt like air.

I tried all the flavors that came with the blu's before i sent them back. But again i think 12mg is just to much. main reason i sent them back is do to poor vapor production. i mean they had some, enough to inhale and exhale but it was pretty weak. I really did not feel much. So i am looking for something that has great vapor but not overwhelming. maybe just right in the middle. you all have been such a big help and i really appreciate it. Like you all have said keep looking and i will find what i am looking for. When i do find what i am looking for i will get like 8mg, 6mg, 4mg, and 2mg juices or carts with them. that is of course if i can find those strengths.

With you all giving me your inputs on what will produce what its perfect. it gives me an idea of what to expect. if you have any questions for me that i have not addressed please let me know.

All of these model numbers are hard to sift apart but i need to read the info given to me after my first post. I shall get on that, again thank you.
