although some kids smoke from issues of anxiety. They try one & feel 'less anxious' & have another. Just saying, but for the most part you are correct. I started out of 'the desire to do that which is forbidden' (rebellion LOL) but continued,in part cause it had a calming effect.
Well I'm not going to sit here and say that tobacco has no benefit. I obviously got some benefit out of it or I wouldn't have smoked for 20 years. I don't know about the anxiety part, but I do know that nicotine helps me far more with ADD than any prescription drug ever did, in combination with caffeine and you have one potent combination. And it did that without the zombie effect that Adderall, and Ritalin gave me. And no the "zombie effect" was not a side effect, for me it was the main effect.
As such in my case I've always been interested in THR from my standpoint. I view nicotine as not only enjoyable it provides a clear benefit to my concentration.
However, the primary reason for starting smoking in the first place for me, and for many (if not most) was that it was forbidden. Forbidden fruit is always viewed as the sweetest. That might be something about the human condition, or it might not be. However, even today a sure fire way to get me to do something is to tell me I can't do it.
