Hey guys and gals. Here's my new flashlight mod. I picked up 2 of these really nice lights at Advance Auto Parts. I got the 2 of them for $12.99. They are really solid flashlights. Nothing like those cheap ones that I used on my first 2 mods.

Right now it's only running off a 3.0 volt RCR123A because that's all I have laying around and I can't fit 2 of them in there because they're too long. I couldn't fit an 18650 in it either. It still hits decently though. I'm going to order some 3.7 volt RCR123As and just use 1 at a time. That should do the trick.

I also have another one that I'm going to try to get an 18650 into. I'll let you guys know if I have any luck.

The flashlight was completely gutted. I pressed an atty connector into a fender washer and then used 3 more regular 3/8 " washers as spacers to keep it in place inside the head of the flashlight.

I cut down a piece of pvc to fit the cylinder to take up the space between the wall of the flashlight and the battery itself. I also used a dummy battery that I made to take up the rest of the space between the end of the RCR123a and the end of the flashlight.

I'll post some pictures hopefully tomorrow when I have more time.

OK here is my all and all question about things like this.

I've looked on the threads (God help me if i missed it) But for a battery source could you use a crank light or a shake flashlight as a power source?

Im not sure if they could give off enough juice but i was thinking for just a fun backup backup. something i could keep in the trunk of my car next to my spare tire and first med kit :p

But seriously i was at the store and saw a whole bunch of Crank and Shake flashlights and i was wondering if they could be adapted as a power source.

BTW I still love the flashlight <3

Try a 18500, seems to fit most FL mods that 2 cr123s wont fit into to ;) LOOKS AWESOME TOO BTW!

Thanks. I've hit mods using 18650's and I really liked them. Plus, I just bought 2 of them. Now I just need to figure out a way to fit them in there. I haven't actually used an 18500 but did consider buying some. Do you know if they hit as nicely as the 18650's?

I'm gonna leave this one as it is and use the 3.7 volt RCR123A's and then try to get an 18650 in the other since I have 2 of them.

Thanks. This is my favorite flashlight mod so far. It's my third one now. I really couldn't tell you if the shake lights could be used as I've never ripped one apart.

Alright, here is the breakdown of what I did with pictures to help anyone interested in making one of these. Very easy, and very sturdy mod. I must warn you though, I did nothing with the switch in the end. It is not momentary, it's push/on push/off. There's a post on here that shows how to make them momentary but it appears that sometimes you lose vape quality after the modification, from what Jason and I have seen with some experimentation.

Here's the first pic with it taken apart:

Here's the atty connector pressed into a fender washer:

Here's the atty connector/washer with 3 3/8 inch regular washers as spacers. I must add that I used a silver atty connector purchased from madvapes which is smaller than the regular ones. If using a regular one, you must cut it down so that the top of the battery makes contact with the center post and not with the outside of the atty connector:

I then put the washers into the head of the flashlight. the silver ring to the right is the retaining washer which screws into the threads:

Here's the retaining washer screwed down into the head:

Then screw the head onto the body and flip it upside down:

I then inserted a cut-down piece of 3/4" PVC into the flashlight body. I cut it just under 2 1/4" to fit.

IMPORTANT: Use the regular 3/4" PVC for RCR123As. The magnums and detonators posted on the site used the RC2 batteries with SCH 40 3/4" PVC. RCR123As won't fit into SCH 40 PVC. You can find the PVC pipe at any hardware store.

Then put in your battery, and next you'll need to add a homemade spacer to take up the rest of the room in the flashlight body.

I used 2 nylon spacers and put a threaded post through the center. I did have to drill them out a little, but hey, it's nylon, very easy to drill out. It works very nicely. The nylon spacers were 5/8X1/4X3/8. I also had to cut the threaded post down to size and then file the ends so that they are smooth for a good connection. Here's a couple shots of it:

Then screw on your end cap and you're ready to vape. I hope this helps anyone wanting to make one of these. Thanks to everyone who complimented :)

Okay. I built the 2nd one and was able to use an 18650. This thing rocks. To get it in there I had to do the head of the flashlight differently. I bought a 3/4" copper tube cap in the plumbing section at the hardware store. It looks like this:

I cut the cap with a pipe cutter so that it was 1/2" tall. Then I drilled a hole in the center of it, and pressed my atty connector into it. Then I slid it into the flashlight head and locked it down with the retaining washer. Boom! That's all there was to it.
