i really liked what count said - that the teachers be evaluated by a professional with the proper background and training to make and educated assesment of how the teachers are actually teaching in the classroom

Standardized tests, those have been around for ages, I would typically hit in the 98 percentile or higher. Sort of excited that my younger daughter came home today with the paper work for her to start full time advanced courses, that makes 2 for 2 in school taking advanced education in elementary school. We must be doing something right I suppose. We instill learning as much as possible, and try to make it fun, challenging, rewarding, and never easy. Nothing like watching your 2nd grader whoop your communications friends butts in chess 3 times in a row to make you realize you have raised a critical thinker 
I teach them that loosing is part of the game though and you have to take it in stride, and work harder so you do not experience that near as much. I also teach them it is critical to be a good winner.
