Rather than wait until next year when I have 5 posts (I don't post in forums much), I'll do this here because I think it needs to be said and read.

I can't foresee needing anything but the boxmod.
I'd been experimenting with disposables and other hand-me-down parts for some time and the biggest hassle was changing and charging batteries all day.
I love electric cigs but almost not enough to keep carrying batteries and a charger with me.
Ken's boxmod alleviates all that. I've been hitting on one battery for almost 2 days now. (I'm doing a test to see how long it takes for the battery to go dead) It is along with a regular 510 backup, so as not to be heating up one atomizer, but the thing is still hitting great. - 2 days!
I will be getting another one for alternating, so all I have to carry is a vial of juice.

Ken is a great guy to deal with. I had some contact with him prior to my order. Saving for too many details, he went far and above what I would expect from an e-cig dealer. Plus, I think he made a special trip to the post office so I'd get the boxmod asap. So, I do believe he's not just about his product but getting people away from tobacco.

If you've had enough buying / changing / charging batteries, you just gotta give this a go.

If its the mod I was looking at the otherday made by someone here on the forum ken63, ken64 or something like that? I liked it !
I also noticed madvapes or someone else selling the same/very similar box for about the same price..$23-25 ?
I thought it was the perfect gift for a newb or myself. Then I just said,
I can do that, so im in the process of modding my own. Thx for the heads up though.

This is your 1st post ? Great write up !

I bet he is kenXX on here, Dubs58. He's an avid vaper guy and I'm sure he has an account. He's pretty low key, so I wouldn't be surprised if he let that bit of info slip from our conversations.

I'm so jazzed on this boxmod, redgirl. Been doing the ecig thing for a few months and, at this point, really don't have a reason to experiment with anything else, hardware-wise. Kickin around trying cartomizers, maybe. But my next adventures are leaning more toward flavors. And hey, redgirl... your avatar... nyssss.

Well, thanks!

Did you get a 3.7V or 5V? If it's 3.7, I would recommend trying 5V next. I use the box mod at work since I have to run around everywhere and the on/off switch is a necessity. Cartomizers are ok for driving, but I still prefer 510 attys.

i have Ken's box mod also and i'm sure Ken is a great guy but the battery does not fit well and it is hard to get it in the box and his hot glued 510 connector is not square with the box, i would be embarrassed to be seen in public with it. i replaced it with a 2xAA Box Mod with slow change LED from MadVapes but still use it at home

i replaced Ken's box mod with Madvapes 2xAA Box Mod, now i replaced the Madvapes 2xAA Box Mod with a 510 WetBox Brown from Clouds of Vapor... this has become an expensive hobby and not a utilitarian "save money" project..

=================

July 07 smoked 11 cigs, 29 less than my usual 40 cigs a day 2262 cigarettes not smoked in 65 days by using Stonewall, Joye 510, Hello 016, Ken's BoxMod, MadVapes 2xAA Box Mod, WetBox Vaporizer (ecig) and 19 bottles of ejuice partially used , $0.28 per cig X 2262 Cigs = $633.36 diverted from cigarettes to Vaporizer (ecig)

i have spent over $1000 on this stuff but bear in mind that my old cigarette cost was $330 a month

Hi, redgirl. I got the 3.7. Not sure, yet, if I wanna get the 5 volt for my second one. I tried a LR atty on it and it tastes 'burnt'. Which leads me to believe that higher voltage will essentially do the same thing with a regular atty. The LR atty does work good on a regular slim battery, btw. I'm having pretty good luck with joye510 attys. I think those are going to be the goto.
And you like 510 attys over cartomizers? Maybe I'll just forego cartos until I get the budget for experimenting, then. (stick with tried n true) Thanks for your input.

Hi, skinny. Hey, thanks for the movie clip! Cool! I hope they do the movie right. I've had this Fat Freddy pic for quite a while. Can't recall where it came from. I was trying to find them published on the net, once.

Hi, jamesam1243. Dang your rotten luck! 1000 bucks so far? Hope you find your 'sweet spot' hardware and can just get to vaping. I'll be getting one more boxmod from Ken and all I'll have to worry about for the time being are attys and juice. Those are going to be a lot cheaper than smokes.

James, did you buy one of the early boxmods from Ken? The early ones have a post in the corner of the battery compartment that makes the battery really hard to insert. If so, you can score the post with a utility knife and break it out which will make the battery replacement much easier.
I'm sold on Kens mods. I have a couple of the 3.7's I use with LR attys and a 5v that is my at home vape. I have no need for any other pv.

I agree. I think a box mod is the perfect thing for a beginner. Great battery life, choice of 3.7 or 5V, on/off switch so you don't have to worry about it going off in your pocket/purse, and inexpensive. If I was to do it all over, I would've gotten one for my first purchase.

I completely agree. I love my box mods and just can't justify moving to another device. 1800mah of juice lasts me most of the day with no vapor drop off. Ken sells everything that you would need and probably cost less than an ego kit.

The only downsides to his box mod is the recessed atty and that he uses hot glue which doesn't last long. You can ask for a flush mounted atty which would probably solve both issues. His customer service is very good.

To me, LR attys seem burnt tasting. 5V with a regular Joye atty is not burnt tasting, it's basically a stronger hit. My preferred voltage.

Also very true. I'm not too fond of LR attys. I still prefer 3.7v for the most part though.

Yea I too have one of the first models of kens box mods and it has never let me down and is still performing nicely. The only complaint I have had with it is the hot glue that holds the atomizer in place became hot and the connector began to move around but I was able to fix this myself. Customer service is great and for a low priced PV you cant go wrong with one of these. If he mad a juice feed box mod version I would surely purchase one from him unfornately at this time he does not. I do however look forward to seeing the reviews of his new variable voltage mod he is making.
