I've just started researching this, been a pack a day smoker for over 20 years, and am ready to get off these effen things. I think I'm gonna order a Volcano kit.

So my question is, does the vapor have nicotine in it? Are my kids going to smell it if I smoke, I mean vape in the house or the car? Will they get a dose of nicotine from second hand vape? And, If I puff on one of these in the car with windows rolled up, are windows going to fog up like when my wife and I started dating?

P.s. HI!

Heh. Hello Funny guy!

Nicotine has no discernible smell that I can detect - the flavors, however, have been known to smell divine. I was vaping Butter Toffee and someone asked me if I was wearing cookies. :D

Seriously, there's really no smell other than lovely. It definitely does not steam up the car, and I can't imagine that the microscopic nicotine particles being thrust from your lungage are in tact enough to disperse through the air in any relevant amount. I vape indoors constantly and am currently staying with family who are absolutely intolerant to smoke, and they are great with it.

Thrilled, even.

:D

From another newbie here is what i Have learned after playing with my first vap a couple of months(second is on the way) The house and care smell clean. My clothes smell clean. Non smokers had no idea what it was from odor( you are exhaling water vapor)When I was only vaping about 2 weeks my taste buds started returning and my lungs cleared up allot. I was much better able to breath(30 year smoker here).

My best recommendation to you is do the research and buy the best quality with a big battery you can afford. We have ordered Screwdrivers and hopefully that will do the trick, the smaller batty style was just not satisfying to us, but love the concept.

I also found if I have analogs in the house I will smoke them. First cig in the morning I really want analog right now, hopefully that will change when the SD gets here. Good luck and don't let all the info floating around melt your brain cells

Alright, yes, you're inhaling nicotine. What you exhale MAY have TRACE amounts of nicotine still in it, certainly nothing to be concerned about...

Your kids will smell SOMETHING, and good luck trying to get them out of your 'vapor cloud', I know I have problems keeping MY 6 year old out of there..it usually smells pretty good! (My Banana's Foster smells just like banana bread and my Atomic Cinnacide, both from Tasty Vaper, btw, one of the MOST popular liquid vendors on here, smells like Big Red gum).

Your car won't 'fog up', but it'll 'vapor up' depending on the liquid.

Welcome aboard and congrats on looking to kick those cigarettes!! You'll LOVE it, but just keep in mind there IS a learning curve, but it's a fun one!!

Hi trus,
Welcome to the ECF Forum!!
Glad to have another new person here that a lot of others would be glad to help!!

Will your children smell the vapor?
Yes, Only if the vapor has flavoring that is strong enough to have a smell comming off after you breath it out..
I do not believe there is any nicotene in the vapor as your body will absob 99% of it before you exhale. The vapor will desippitate with in a few seconds anyways, so no harm there..
LOL, No your windoes won't fog up.. Even in the cold weather they won't. I never had it happen to me..

Before you go getting a Volcano, is there a reason as to why you would want a Volcano?
I believe the first PV that a new person should get is either one of the following 3 models..
First would be the eGo. This hs a 650 mah battery.
Best battery life, sleek and has a fantastic warranty from Jantyusa @ 6 months for the entire kit.
Joye 510 is good and these come in two versions, Reg battery @ 180mah which will last about 1 to 3 hrs or the Mega battery which is a 280mah size and can last from 2 to 5 hrs (depending on use) and nice colors. Be careful where you go to get one as the pricing is diff at all suppliers. These could have a 7 day to 45 day warranty for the batteries and chargers.
The KR808D-1 is also a good one. This is a two pc which has 3 diff size batteries to chose from and can range from 1 1/2 hrs up to 5 hrs use. The following are the size of batteries - 180mah, 280mah and 380mah...

The eGo and 510 mods are of a 3 piece models..

Just look down the forum where the suppliers are and look through the diff vendors that sell here.. JantyUSA has the eGo, V4L and others offer the KR808D-1 and Cignot offers the cheapest 510 from Joye (no box) which I had gone to when I started vaping in Oct of '09.

Best of luck and please look some more b4 buying anything and ask questions too..
You can even ask the suppliers questions..

The atomizers I am using (probably 10) I will throw in a cup on my computer desk. Some of the eliquid will leak in the bottom of the cup. This as a very strong smell. It doesn' smell like any particular flavor but always has the same distinct smell which is rather strong. There are only a few flavors that will produce a slight smell (which is usually a good smell).

I vape around my grandsons with no problem.

I'd second the recommendation for an Ego...I LOVE mine! Anywhere between 6-8 hours battery life for a chain-vaper, (which I am..) and 8-10 hours with moderate use!

Still new at this, but I have been quite pleased with my experience thus far. No STINK from tobacco, no ash mess, no clouds of smoke funking up my car with tar residue.

I was unsure what the story was about others getting a tiny dose of nic from the vapor. Thanks for giving me the 411 on this guys! I know that someone will ask me eventually.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but---it isn't really the nicotine we worry about anyway right? I mean, from what I've read here and from Google articles, nicotine, in and of itself, is not harmful (of course unless you OD on it). Nicotine is found in many of the foods we eat such as tomatoes, eggplant etc. It's the tar, carbon monoxide, arsenic and 4000+ other chemicals combined with SMOKE that is harmful to us, those around us and everything the smoke comes in contact with. I know we don't have any scientific evidence yet to prove vaping is totally harmless but I'd think if they're found to be harmful in any way, it would be to the ones directly inhaling from PVs. All I can say is, from what I've seen first hand, I'm in much better shape since I dropped the analogs and slid into the wonderful world of vaping. I'm coming up on my third week of no analogs! Sometimes I feel guilty because it's been so easy to quit. :D

LyndaGayle!

I'm Wordwench at WAHM. See what you've started?

:)

I completely agree - the effects of the exhaled chemicals in smoke as well as the stench are far, far worse than anything vaping can bring to the mix.

(And thank you again for seriously changing my life. I know that's dramatic, but girl.)

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about the vapor around kids IMO. I vape when I'm sitting across the table from my 10yo daughter and she only complains when I keep the lid of my juice/carts storage box open (the juice smells stronger than the vapor).

I figure it this way: nicotine is no worse for you than sugar or caffeine. If I can let her drink soda pop then I shouldn't have any beef blowing vapor around when she's there. I'm not saying that I'd be happy if she decided to vape or smoke when she's of age to, I'm just saying I don't think it's going to hurt her IMO.

Hahah, me too. I'm still in my first week, but it's already very clear to me that this time, I am done with tobacco, and I feel like I cheated somehow and didn't really quit.

Back on topic...I took my Tornado e-cig straight over to my mother's to test it out on her. she is allergic to everything, has some health conditions and recoils at almost any abnormal smell...and she can smell everything, things I didn't even think had a smell. Smoking anywhere remotely near her was a complete no-no. Wear any perfume or cologne near her and she'll gag.

So I walked around her vaping some vanilla that I thought would have a fairly strong smell. Nothing. She could not even smell it unless I got right next to her face and did one of those pre-puffs without inhaling it. There was no allergic reaction, no irritation, nothing.

Conclusion: Anyone who complains about your vaping near them, just wants to complain because they "see smoke".

Quexos, your starting to scare me. ya know what they say about "if it sounds too good too be true"

Normally, you'd be right. About vaping though...it IS. :)

But, if you're looking for something to 'negative it up a bit', you have to fill it with liquid and charge the batteries. ;)

A lot of people have said to me, "But what happens if you find out, years from now, that it's NOT as 'healthy' as you thought it was?"

Easy, it CANNOT be as bad for us and 4000 chemicals in just one analog. :pervy:

I also found if I have analogs in the house I will smoke them. First cig in the morning I really want analog right now, hopefully that will change when the SD gets here.

When I first started vaping the hardest part was the morning cigarette. I fixed this by using a higher nicotine concentration in the morning 24mg/ml and then lowering back to 18mg/ml the rest of the day.

If you worry about nicotine, start lowering it slowly. I am now at 6 - 10mg/ml depending on my mood.

Don't panic if you do not give up cigarettes the day you start vaping. I smoked for 2 weeks but noticed that I went from 1.5 packs/day to only 2 or 3 cigs per day. Then one morning I lit up a cig and discovered I just did not want it, grabbed my ecig and have never looked back. NOTE: Date on my signature is from my last cigarette ever.

As for the smell, everyone says I am now a walking air freshener. I usually give off a vanilla, caramel, chocolate, or butterscotch smell when vaping. The only complaint I have had after nearly 7 months is when I vaped Dr. Pepper flavor. It made everyone in the car start craving a Dr. Pepper.. :D

Im no longer in danger of covering the children inside and out with tar arsenic and carbon monoixide an god knows what else.
I dont vape AT them but I didnt smoke AT them either - smoke lingers though - just watch it on a sunny day. Blow smoke into a shaft of sunlight, and off it drifts. Sticks to walls too - mine used to go yellow in my porch - guess my lungs looked a bit darker than that. That was the tar mixed with nicotine. I no longer use anything with TAR in it.
I tried the shaft of sunlight trick with vaping - the plume of vapor dissipated in seconds.
The kids like me vaping, although they think all the flavors I vape are 'coffee smelling'.
I guess they dont smell as strong as I thought if my cup of coffee overwhelms them :)

I use only the strongest tobacco nic juices I can find and my wife and kids don't notice a thing. My wife vapes Candy Cane and it has a light peppermint smell. Smells nice. Especially in the car.
BTW, the wife has the Joye 510 and I use the Janty eGo. Can't go wrong with either.
(of course I recommend the eGo)
