Hey All. I've been smoking for around 15 yrs, about a pack a day. 3 days ago i got my first starter kit with light cartridges. Last night I really started to feel dizzy. I did a little research and someone posted that it could be to much nicotine. My last ecig was around 10:30pm last night, 15 hrs later and i'm still feeling dizzy. I've tried to quit smoking a couple of times and never got dizzy.

Is this normal?

THanks

Welcome! :)

I'm new too. Got my eGo on Thursday afternoon - my journey got rough Friday night. If you can find my thread (can't figure out how to link it - little old lady here) you will see what a few of my experiences have been. (Look on pg. 15, I believe - for the incidents I'm talking about.)

It may help - then again, maybe not.

Where I usually am
Welcome to ECF. Hummmm.... To much nic... Could be. Happened to me before. What's the nic strenth on your ejuice ??? I would cut it in half ans see what happens. I smoked for 27years and started with 24mg nic and that for me was a dizzy buzz. Now Im vaping 8 to 12 nic juices:p
Also keep in mind that your body is going thru changes and will take some time for some of the effects to dissipate. I had gotten sick for about 2 weeks when I left analogs and started vaping. Our bodies react differently

Welcome-

This is from the FAQ section which I would highly recommend that you read-

V4. Headache, racing pulse, dizziness, slurred speech
These are nicotine overdose symptoms. Sometimes we overestimate just how much nicotine we were getting with regular cigarettes, and underestimate how much we are vaping, particularly at the beginning. Racing pulse is the most common, slurred speech less so. Headache can be severe. Try cutting down the nic dosage in your cartridges or liquids or vaping less frequently. The nicotine strength can be easily reduced by adding some VG (Glycerine, USP - obtained from a pharmacy), although this will also reduce the flavor.

It is said that some people experience this even with a low nicotine liquid and find that switching to VG solves their problems, although such a symptom of PG intolerance is not widely believed to exist never mind be proven. It is far more likely that such a reduction of the symptom/s would be due to an intolerance to flavorings, colorings or similar used in an eliquid, and changing to a VG liquid simply removed those particular ingredients - see footnote.

Are you chain vaping (constantly hitting the e-cig)? We need to try to remind ourselves to try to use the PV more like we do a cigarette. New Toy Syndrome makes us chain vape. It's fun! However, even with Low nic liquid, it can make you dizzy and queasy.

It also could just be some kind of bug. It's easy to blame vaping for normal (coincidental) illness symptoms when we first start vaping. It can be kinda scary that first few weeks when we first start (and many new users may be a little worried about the safety of the liquid we're getting). The forum is filled with those kind of posts. Keep an eye out for a day or two and get some rest.

My guess is too much nic or a PG allergy. When we first start out, we have a tendency to over-vape. Our bodies absorb the nic from vapor more from our mouths than our lungs. Would make sense to me that it's a direct route to the brain versus the lungs and having to travel all over before getting there that could be causing the dizziness. Drink plenty of water and I mean plenty. It will help flush your body plus vaping dehydrates you worse than smoking. As for PG allergies, it varies from person to person. If funds allow you, try an all VG base liquid like virginvapor. This will at least either rule out a PG allergy or prove to you that that what it is.

3 days in huh? It's called oxygen. Get used to it...... ;)

Could be the nic too. I'd be surprised...since 15 hours is a long time to still be dizzy if you haven't vaped. For most people, nicotine half-life is about 1 hour. That's assuming fairly normal body chem and metabolism/health.

You can go back to smoking for a bit and see if the symptoms subside. Or see your doctor if they don't.

Also, switch e-juice. EDIT: I see that you did. Good.

When I quit smoking, the biggest change in my body that I noticed was the levels of cerumen exuding from my ear canals. I have since adjusted to this (normal) level of earwax. ( I know, gross, right???) But anything that messes with my ears makes me dizzy. So I was dizzy fr a while when I started vaping. I got used to it, though.

Could be totally unrelated. High or low blood pressure, high or low blood sugar, inner ear imbalance, etc.
Could be related to the cessation of cigarettes itself.

Go get checked out!
