Hi! I am 33 years old and smoked Newport cigs since 16. Actually laid them down about 2 years ago and made it cold turkey for 2 weeks. It came to the point where I needed something or I was gonna lose it! I opted for a can of dip to knock the edge off thinking it would be easier to quit that after I got past the rough patch. 2 years later I was still dipping pretty much constantly, which even while I was doing it I thought was disgusting!

2 months ago my boss, who is a 25+ year smoker turned vaper, offered to buy a starter kit for anyone who wanted to quit tobacco. I got one from him and have not touched tobacco since that day!

I wasted a lot of money at first on juices trying to find that menthol cig taste that I used to crave but never found one that I could even stand to vape. Finally started reluctantly trying more fruity juices and now I'm hooked! I keep a 50 ml bottle of mt baker menthol and mix in fruit flavors in with it. I need that menthol coolness and throat hit but the fruit makes it so tasty.

My kit was joyetech 650 mah batts and some kind of vision clearomizers which I have since passed on to a friend who now says he can't stand the taste or smell of a cig after smoking for years.

I now vape with 2 smok winder 1300 mah at work or out and about and vamo v5 at home with protank 2s and mini protank 2s. It's turned into somewhat of an obsession but surely better for me than rotting my lip off with dip or going back to the cancer stix. I never crave either forms of tobacco anymore and am finally 100% tobacco free!

Been browsing this forum since I first started looking for juices and learned so much already. Thanks for all the good advice now and in the future!

Welcome! Glad to hear that you took your boss up on the offer. Many of us have passed our original starter kits along to other people to get going once we moved on to more advanced rigs. Anything to keep you from inhaling smoke is great!

Stick with it, ask questions and look for support if and when you need it.

May 2014 be the year you put it all behind you.

Welcome to the forum!

It's interesting to see what people start on and end up liking - for me, I bought a few tobacco flavors, but avoided them for a while (I figured that if I was quitting smoking, it wouldn't be good to start out on something that reminded me of tobacco) and when I DID try them, found I wasn't that into them. I've gravitated more towards the dessert/chocolate/creamy flavors, but I do like a little honey tobacco from time to time.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Pretty sure I'm in it for the long haul. I already have a pretty extensive list of things to try, just wanted to start off as cheap as possible and get a decent vape. We have another baby on the way and we just bought a new house. I need to wait til my old house sells before I feel comfortable buying much more equipment.

Congratulations! Out of curiosity, how old is your boss? I find older, longtime smokers tend to be more stuck in their ways, and might not be willing to take the time to push through the vaping learning curve.

He is around 50 and vaped for quite a while before he made the offer. Looks like he still has his starter equipment so I don't think its a hobby for him just a means to not smoke cigs. He is actually like the vp of company, the owner is the one who saw his success and decided to offer it company wide. That is a very generous offer when you have 300 employees! We have 40+ year smokers here who have stopped completely and even a 60+ year old guy who is into getting new accessories all the time and loving it.

Hi there I'm just wanting to say hello I'm 42 and been Smoking off and on ever since I was in my teens I brought my first kit a few moths back but was just a cheap one of a market stall that didn't last and the battery leaked I then brought myself a vision spinner with a Vivi Nova tank but I dropped that the other day and the button got stuck and while I was looking for answers about that I came across this forum and found a great thread and now know that I am only one who has had that problem I am still trying different juices but I have found a Blackcurrant and Liquorice one that I like
