Hey Guys/Gals,

So I started looking at some youtube vids about e cigs. I smoke "Newports" about a pack a day and I'm looking for a unit that can mimic "Newports and the type of Nig it has so I can cut down and quit. Thinking a lot about the 510 ecigs The most I can Invest Is $100 bucks Total To start with. What can I get and how long will It last me before I would have to buy more stuff for It?

I'm In New York so If I can find a place where I can cash and carry that would be great! If not a good website with low prices and fast S/H would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Smoking Joe. Welcome to ECF.

I'm not sure about brick and mortar stores in New York, but there are a lot of great online suppliers that are relatively inexpensive- check out the suppliers subforum and reviews of suppliers. Others will probably chime in with more specific suggestions.

I use a kr808d1, and a Riva- so don't know about 510 specifics- but whatever you decide to get, you should start with a kit that has at least two batteries, a charger, and you may want to get a passthough that plugs into a usb port. Order some different flavors and some extra liquid for refilling your carts or cartomizers.

If you haven't read this yet http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/36180-wonderful-world-vaping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html is a great guide to the different types of e-cigs and a little about what to expect.

HI Joe, welcome to ECF. I have a 510 kit and love it but I am going to be ordering the eGo also because the only bad thing about the 510 is the battery life is not very long. So if you are out of the house for any period of time you need several batteries to keep you going. The eGo I have read lasts around 6 hours or all day depending on usage and is basically a 510 with better battery. Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. seems to have good prices and delivery times on the e-cigs while I get my juice from Wet Your Stick E-Liquid and usually get my shipment the day after I order it, maybe 2 or 3 days to New York and he carries wide variety of flavors and also carries sample sizes. Figure on using about 3 ml or so a day, I started with the high nicotine level of 24mg which works for me as I was a heavy smoker. At first I thought I would want tobacco flavor to replace my cigarettes but now find myself liking the sweeter flavors. He does carry menthol as well which I believe Newports are. Both sites I mentioned have very knowledgable people so email and ask any questions you have before ordering. Hope this helps, good luck vaping, you are going to love it.

Thanks ces,

I'm playing catch up here, Have not heard of the models you have but I'll look into them.

After that, just decide on what "juice" you need (assuming that you don't like what comes with it) and you are good to go.

Hi Joe. I use a Magma from volcanoecigs.com; my understanding is that it is basically a re-branded 510. The starter kit costs $80 plus tax with free priority mail shipping (2-3 business days) and the only extra thing you would need to buy in your initial order is a spare atomizer or two at $7 a pop. The kit comes with one, but they do wear out eventually. I'm not trying to sell you on this particular model/company, just wanted to give you a feel for what to expect price-wise. Good luck!

Edit: The kit Jimmy just posted looks like a pretty good deal if you want an ego.

Welcome to ECF. The 510 is a good starter unit. I've had mine for a couple of months and it's great, except for the battery life. Other than that you can't go wrong. If you're looking to cash-n-carry try this link: VaporSearchUSA. It's not comprehensive yet but you might find something. If you work it right you can come in way under $100 for a 510 and enough juice to get by for quite a while. My favorite vendor is Electronic Cigarette Supplies & Electronic Cigarette Refills for Name-Brand Electronic Cigarettes! E-Cigs from LiteCigUSA. You can get a 510 starter kit for $42.95 or a generic 510 for $32.95 in the Super sale section. I've got some of the Joye parts and some generic from them and they're both good.

The Riva is about the same as the ego- i believe it's just a difference in the buttons they're both 650 mA manuals that look very similar. A kit from vapor junction is ~$50, but it doesn't have all of the stuff that's in the ego-maniac kit. shipping will 3-5 days i think.

I think you are good with a good eGo kit, but do check into juices and order some sample sizes so you can find what works for you the best. Don't buy big bottles of anything until you know what nic level and flavors work for you or you will be wasting your money. Wet Your Stick E-Liquid is very good with juices and super fast delivery with sample sizes and delivery is only $5 or free with order of $60 , there are other good ones too, this is just the one I found I like and the prices are good.

Hello. Just a note to say that my wife started using electronic cigarettes about 2 months ago. First she was smoking regular cigarettes and the ecig. Money was tight is the reason for trying it. After about 3 weeks she was totally off cigarettes and just using the ecig. First one she bought was from Aqua Vapor. Let me say first that she use's the thing all the time, not like a regular cigarette. She was smoking 2-3 packs a day so she hits the ecig all the time, especially now that she can vape inside. Well, the Aqua vapor had 2 batteries and the one died after about 3 weeks, so we sent it back and got a replacement, now it's about a month later and the other one has died and so has the atomizer. Their warranty is 30 days so replacements will be out of pocket this time. 3 weeks ago she ordered a pro smoke unit because they were highly rated (don't know why) they are junk, don't last long at all but they do vape really good to be small. Anyway, just got her a Smoking Everywhere kit and it really works great. I guess you get what you pay for in this case. Aqua Vapor was $59 with shipping, Pro Smoke was $59.99 plus shipping and the Smoking Everywhere was $53.34 from buy.com vs over $100 from their site. We refill her cartridges with ejuice and that really cuts down the cost. If you smoke Newports, order the juice from "Strictly Ejuice" and get the Strictly x2 Menthol Freeze , which is double the Menthol and that will hit you about right, plus you can get different amounts of nicotine strength's. She was a heavy smoker so she get's the 24mg strength. You can get the 30ml bottle for $11.65 plus shipping and it will last you about a month or more. They do have 36mg nicotine juice's which is what she usually gets but the highest x2 is 24mg. Anyway, hope that helps. As far as the cheapest online I have found, visit Buy China wholesale electronic cigarette- China Electronics Wholesale, bulk wholesale. They are from china which will take about 3 weeks to get. That's where I will order from now on. I have dealt with them for other electronic items and they are great, just hate the wait time on shipping.

I have smoked 2 1/2 packs/day Marb Reds for 25 years. I bought the Magma from Volcano to give this a try, and I REALLY like it. However, I had determined that if this would work for me, I wanted to switch to it completely and drop analogs (real cigarettes). The Magma is great and there are lots of other good 510s, but the battery life becomes a huge issue for those of use completely switching to it. Dripping is fine with a USB passthrough so battery life isn't an issue, but that's only useful when you're stagnant and not on the go. I'm always on the go and that just wouldn't cut it for me. I am no ordering an eGo unit with an eGo megabattery, and also a Hello 016 battery. Either one of those batteries, I'm told from other heavy smokers who have switched and use them, last a good day or day and a half on nearly constant vaping, so between the two I'll be just fine. I'm getting cartos (cartomizers) instead of carts because they also last much longer than regular carts (not mention must less of a hassle to refill even on the go).

510 is a good start, but you may find shortly that you need longer battery and juice life if you're on the go a lot like I am. It had to completely replace smoking for me to make it worth it, and it's doing just that. At a pack a day Newports, I'd say 16-18mg nicotine juice would work well for you. I do 24 mostly, some 36.
