I've been vaguely following the e-cig movement for a couple months. I've been thinking about signing up, but I have an odd question. Follow along if you dare.

I don't really smoke much. I smoke mostly when I drink. But I am an alcoholic, so I drink pretty often. Every 2-3 days. Binge drinker, signing on.

I (roughly) go through 2 packs of analogs a week. I'm not really addicted to nicotine, I'm addicted to smoking. Something to do with my hands. I'd love to smoke at my computer, but I have kids, and don't smoke in the house.

You guys think these things could help? I don't mind getting nicotine (it feels good), but I could do without the tar and other nasties in smokes. The headaches, the sore throat.

And I would LOVE to save money if at all possible. And e-cigs seem like they could do that.

SkullScrew, your break-even point when purchasing the e-cig and all the trimmings would be far in the future. 2 packs of cigarettes a week is roughly 5-6 ciggies a day...which you use mostly when drinking. If you BEGIN using nicotine at the computer you will most likely use it more. Why would you want to increase the amount of cost and usage to engage in such an endeavor? I have not saved any money and my break-even point gets farther away with each purchase of supplies.

If you are an admitted alcoholic who can control your nicotine habit and limit your drinking to 2-3 times a week you probably have more control than you think but recognize that you may have some addictive tendencies. If this is true...don't start the e-cig.

Just my opinion.:D

Hey skull, how expensive are ciggies where you're at? If you just bout a kit, a couple parts and some juice you could potentially save some $$. If you're not a heavy smoker then you shouldn't need a ton of supplies and juice like some of us.

If you are looking to replace the ritual of smoking without the nicotine then it may just work for you! I find I don't need the nic all the time and about half the time vape non nic just for the habit. Keeps my hands busy. :)

If you were a non-smoker I wouldn't urge you to start, but since you do smoke I say go for it! There's lot of advice around here on what to buy and a vendor section to help decide who's best and cheapest. Good luck!

I love to vape and drink, they go hand in hand for me. Get a 401 style mini with an auto bat. I never tell people to get the auto bats but in your situation it will work the best for you. I have a 510 and a 102mini. I use the auto bats from my 102 on my 510 when drinkin, I love it. Do some research before you buy. welcome to ECF and enjoy.:D

I know this is dredging up a dead thread, but I figured I'd follow up on my previous message.

I finally broke down and bought a 901 starter kit. Got some low nic juice in a few flavors to go with.

I've almost broken my analog habit. I still smoke analogs when I drink, but I've cut the drinking to once a week. A pack of analogs lasts...Hell, one pack every 2 weeks. The amount I spend on smoking has reduced considerably, even counting the money I spend on juice.

I'm about to drop from low to 0nic juice, and I don't fear the change at all. I'm happy where I'm at, and have no complaints.

Also, if I can pimp a company, Vapor Kings is the absolute end-all be-all. Their customer service is the best I've run across, ever.
