Hey Guys and Gals,

I picked up a smoke51 starter kit a few weeks ago from my local mall. I thought I would signed up here and see what information I can gather.

I have done my searches on here - and came across a lot of bad reviews mixed in with some good reviews - So I am confused.

My smoke51 duo's are DECENT, but not 100% happy with them. The biggest thing I LIKE is that if this thing breaks or anything I bring ito where i bought it and they just swap it with a new one. I have done this once already and it they replaced it with no questions.

2nd it produces a lot of smoke on fresh new cartridges. It's close to like a hookah which I like.

Over all performance is decent - but here are the down falls:

The Battery life on these things BLOW - it will last for like 2 hours MAX, but that is me sucking on the thing quite a lot - but not that much. Maybe 5-10 cigs with in that time span.

The cartridges loose flavor fast - after about the first 20-30 mins into the cartridge the flavor is gone. I then let it sit for a day or two - then pop it back on and then it taste AWFUL - Like old dusty basement?

Do these things 'dry out'? - Like if I leave them out in the open and not have them sealed like they first where - do they go 'bad'? if you will

I have curious to know if any one else here has the same e-cig and has found tweeks to help out the performance? Or maybe has a way to re-fill there cartridges with flavoring / nicotine which I presume as 'jucine' it.

Look forward to your replies - Thanks guys

I haven't used the Smoke51 units but others that are similar.

You'll get less flavor and throat hit as the battery starts draining. I know my first 2 piece unit I would get about 3 hours before the battery HAD to be charged again. However after about the first hour of use on a fresh battery I'd notice a bit of a drop in flavor and throat hit.

Your cartomizers shouldn't be drying out from letting them sit for a couple days and then reusing them but if they have the little rubber "condoms" on them like other similar cartomizers then it isn't a bad idea to put them back on if you stop using one before it is dry.

I would guess that the "old dusty basement" taste you're getting means that you have used it up. Alot of people will describe it as a marshmallowy taste they get when their cartos go dry.

hope that helps.

Here is a video that is made using another companies cartomizers but the general idea of how to refill them is the same - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/39350-refilling-cartomizer-movie.html also check out this thread - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/47584-my-refilling-trick.html it will not only give you some tips but a good laugh too ;)

there are a ton of different places you can get liquid from but from my experience so far I can recommend the following:

LitecigUSA and Electronic Cigarettes from Cigeasy - Home of the Easy E-Cigarette

both have most of the normal flavors and a few extras and great prices

and for some really unique flavors be sure to check out Ms Ts Bakery Essentials

wow man - thanks for the links. It looks very simple enough for me to do it. Now I am excited - This should be a heck of a lot cheaper now.

Quick question - is Johnsons Creek a good place to order from? I would like to keep things US based for biased reasons.

Johnsons Creek used to be very well regarded here. Not so much now. I believe they changed the formula/source for their juice ... and their customer service leaves something to be desired. Search ECF for Johnson's Creek to confirm/deny my "belief" and to learn more.

As for Smoke51, that used to be an E9 model, so I was about to urge you to consult the E9 expert, Leaford. For example, here are his top 5 favorites (notice what is number 1).
YouTube - Leaford's Video blog 8-4: My New Five Favorites
[Try not to be too put off by his Myna Bird;)]
However, I just rewatched that video. In it he says that Smoke51 has switched to the KR808D-1 (leaford's #3). If so, you are paying way too much!

Thyestean's recommendation of CigEasy for e-liquid is also relevant for the KR808D-1 hardware (kits, batteries and cartomizers). Other very good suppliers include NHaler (e.g., for the mega manual battery, cartomizers, and and three different categories of e-liquid), Mist-Stix, and Vapor4Life (their "Vapor King" branding is the best known, but you pay a bit extra for it; they do have a huge selection).

You may also want to take a look at the illustrated guide referenced in my signature. It provides a pretty good introduction to vaping and an overview of most models and juice.

No problem. ;)

I have no experience with them and thus would defer to DonDaBoomVapes suggestion to search the forum and then make your own judgment call based on the info you find.
