Hi,
I’m a pipe smoker with no intention of quitting. I’ve been looking into vaping so I can have something for the places where I can’t smoke. I did try the DSE-601 E-Pipe, but it wasn’t satisfying-probably due to it’s unreliability. Although the last couple of weeks it’s been working fine.
Probably ‘cause I’ve been looking into something else. :)

I found a couple B&Ms in the area and Saturday I picked up an Ecto 1300 BDC-VV with a T9 BDC tank. The guy at the store said they were new & he just received these units a couple days ago. I searched for reviews online but couldn’t find anything. The 1300s aren’t even on the Ecto website yet.

Has anyone had any experience with Ecto? What’s your opinion of them?

Hi CreepyLady,

Thanks for your reply.
The DSE-601 is an E-Pipe. The atty is built into the "pipe bowl"- so when it burns out, you hav'ta buy another bowl. An expensive proposition.

The Ecto is a PV. It works much better than the pipe.
I restore vintage tobacco pipes as a hobby, so I plan to attach a pipe bowl to the end of the Ecto so it'll look more like a pipe.
I got the idea when I saw the Janty Kuwako online.

I also haven't had any experience with the pipes you mention but I do plan on getting one of the new ones from Smok Just because I used to love smoking pipes before I got onto cigarettes.. and I think vaping has much more in common with pipesmoking.. anyway the company that makes that one I linked seems reliable and while I can't really recommend it (as I've never tried it) I can say I do intend to purchase one in the next few months =)

Ok;

Let me see if I can get something straight; I think there's a good chance you don't really want what is called an e-pipe.

I think what a pipe smoker would actually be interested in is an RBA. A REBUILDABLE.

Does that sound like what you might be interested in?

If so, there are two types:
1: Topcoil - usually described as Genesis type
2: bottom coil - usually called Kayfun style, or russian.

@ Slappy1981:
Have you had any problems with them working?
What is your primary unit now & why?

The ecto 1100 is hit or miss. Sometimes you get great Taste and vapor and other times nothing.

The ecto 1300 is a good concept. But it needs some work. You can change volts on this. 3.3v to 4.8v. Taste and vapor is way better then the 1100, but the tank leaks. I took it back and got a new tank, Same problem. When you take a toot you hear a lot of gurgling. It's a new product so hopefully they get it corrected.

I'm still using the 1300. I ordered a provari that should be here this week.

I have the 1300 and haven't had any problems. The only time it gurgled was when the tank was running low. My tank has never leaked.
