Don't see any threads. My husband bought some mini Protank's that weren't Kanger and we had the same problem. The first one he bought for $7 worked great so he bought one for me. It didn't have air holes in the base, he traded it for another that has bad threading. Since he was buying from a friend who'd ordered the knockoffs from China and I already have a Kanger, we let it go. Does the box say Kanger? MBV has a great rep, I doubt they'd sell knockoffs.

There should be threads on the inside & the outside. The outside attaches to the whole tank, the inner ones are for the coil.
And it looks like your coil is indeed faulty.

thanks for the help guys and girls..mbv is going to help me out..wound up being kanger put threads were the o-ring sits instead of were the coil goes if u look at a picture of a normal base and this one you will see the difference
