Howdy Jess, welcome to the ECF!

Well, that's quite the upgrade for sure, heh. I think you'll be quite satisfied with your purchase. That said, you won't be able to use the .2 ohm heads on the istick 50W, as the lower ohm limit for the istick 50W is .3 ohms, but that's not really a huge deal, as I'm confident you'll be quite satisfied with the .5 ohm heads.

When you first get it, make sure you prime your wicks/coils before you vape away. That is, take a few drops of e-liquid and just apply them directly to the coil/wicking material. 5-10 drops should do it. Additionally, after you've filled/assembled it (before you vape), it's a good idea to take some "primer puffs" (just inhale on the tank without firing it up). This will ensure that the wick and coil have adequate amounts of juice applied to them so that you'll avoid the possibility of a dry hit (which is both uncomfortable and horrible-tasting) which should also help with the longevity of your coils.

Lastly, since this is a sub-ohm tank (and you're likely not gonna be used to the huge amounts of vapor) start at a low wattage and work your way up until you find what's comfortable for you. Whenever I hand my sub-ohm situations over to new vapers I always turn down the voltage and give them a word of warning about not busting a lung trying to rip the thing.

Anyway, if you have any questions, you're in the right place!

I have the same setup and I can tell you the .2 coil works excellent and is the only coil I use in all of my tanks (maganus, arctic, and herakles) haven't even touched the .5 coils actually.

According to this page, the lowest an iStick 30W can fire is .4 ohms. I wouldn't recommend firing below the rated lowest ohm rating for your device (even if it works), as you may be damaging your battery. Additionally, 30W doesn't seem like nearly enough to power a .2 ohm coil.

Hello all, I am new here but have been vaping off and on for about 2 years. I tried the disposable ecigs first and went through them way too fast. Then I switched to a veppo pen style vault vaporizer. I started at 36mg nic and am down to 24mg on it. The battery on it is 3.2 to 4.8v and I have the airflow as open as it will go on it lol. It served its purpose as I have been smoke free for 8 months now. However I wanted to upgrade so I ordered an iStick 50W by Eleaf and an Authentic Horizon Arctic Tank Atomizer Sub Ohm Subtank Comes with BTDC (dual) 0.2 ohm & BTDC (dual) 0.5 ohm coils! I know nothing about them other than they were recommended as a good starting point from what I was using. Anyone have any info on these? I want to educate myself while I wait for them to get here lol. So any info, tips, or tricks are welcomed. Thanks!

I was using the same set up for a while, with the .5 coil it puts out a TON of vapor. I'm guessing you vape like you smoked (mouth-to-lung), the Artic tank is designed for lung hits (like if you smoked a joint), problem is lung hits take a while to get used to and will make you cough until you do. Like the others said cut you'r nic levels down, and also take short drags until you get used to lung hits. Enjoy you'r new setup!

She said she got the 50w version. It is able to fire down to 0.2 ohms( iSmoka/Eleaf electronic cigarette » iStick 50W ). I have a 50w istick and can confirm that it will fire a 0.2 ohm coil.

To the OP, I think that setup is a HUGE step up from where you were, and I think you will be very satisfied with it. It gives you a lot of room to expand in the future. I would try both coils and see which one you prefer. Typically, a lower ohm coil will handle more power, give you a hotter vape, and produce more vapor. Some people like this, others can't stand it. It all comes down to personal preference. The only way you will know which one works better for you is to try both of them and see which one works better for you.

OP is getting the 50w not the 30w. 50w will do just fine with anything down to .2 ohms. I have the exact same setup for a while now and have had no issues firing the low coils at any wattage. Plus the coils aren't exactly .2 on the dot so there is +/- .09 ohm wiggle room

Oops, I got this thread confused with another thread where someone was getting a 30W.

You got a nice little setup there I would stick with .5 coils unless you like the cloud chasing lol then go lower with the .2 but the .5 should be perfect just make sure you buy replacements and make sure to drip some juice on fresh coils to break em in but how are you liking the arctic tank?
I am still waiting on it to get here but I will let you know once I get it and break it in!

I do both but I tend to take more lung hits than mouth its thanks for the tips!

ack! hopefully it is a stealth shipment and sneaks into your mailbox in the next couple of days...
