New here and new to vaping - question

Just wanted to introduce myself. I just ordered my first ecig. I ordered a 510 from eFox. Seemed like a good deal and got extra juice BOGO.

However, after reading more about these PVs, I realized that I still have a lot to learn. For instance, that the attys go out after a month or two. Also, that the 510 batteries only last like 4 hours per charge. I only ordered 1 batt, 1 atty and 5 carts.

I still have a question for you guys, though: With the 5 carts that come with the kit, how many times can I fill and reuse them?

Also, when they say the battery lasts 4 hours, is that 4 hours of smoking time or 4 hours period?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to ECF. If you're a moderate vaper the batteries might last 3 hours. My suggestion, have at least 3 on hand or you'll be without a charged one at some point.

The carts that come with the kit will last about a day if you keep refilling them. After that the filler material will get packed down and they won't work right. You can get a little more use out of them by fluffing the filler up with a pin or needle but eventually you have to replace the filler. Most people use polyfill that goes in an aquarium filter. You can find it at most pet stores or even Walmart. There's blue foam too, just search for "blue foam mod" and you'll find threads on it. The plastic cart will last quite a while if you put new filler, just toss it when it fits loose.

As far as atty's, keep a couple of extras on hand. Some last a few days, some a few months. You just never know how long it'll go until it's gone.

Good morning! Happy Thanksgiving, and welcome to ECF. Your five carts will last quite awhile because you can refill them many, many times. The only thing about carts you have to worry about is that the filler (white polyfill) will get dirty, and eventually need to be cleaned or replaced. One battery is NOT enough. What are you going to vape with while it's charging? And one atty is NOT enough....they do tend to go bad before anything else. You need to get at LEAST one more (probably 2) battery, and at LEAST 1 or 2 more attys. Maybe if you go back to the same place you ordered your kit from, you can add these things. That's my advice. If nothing else right now, at least get another battery. Think about it....it will last about 2 hours max., then it will take 2 hours to recharge. You have to have at least 2, and should have 3 batteries in rotation at all times.

Thanks! This stuff is still very confusing to me. I've been reading lots of forum threads trying to get it all, but there's a lot to learn. Hopefully, these things will become more simplified in the near future. My initial thought was that it would be simple and cheap, but now I find that I need to buy more stuff, and it adds up. It will still be cheaper than buying analogs, but stil...

Welcome.

I started with 2 complete 510's. I just purchased 2 complete Ego's and 15 cartomizers. Just to confuse you some more. You will need to get a minimum of 1 more battery, at least 1 more atomizer (2 would be better) and 5 more cartridges with 1 or 2 samplers of flaver. (Johnson Creek has 2 good ones, FSUSA has nice sample sizes also). I found that I needed longer battery life, didn't like switching out the 510's every 2 to 3 hours especially at work. Ran thru the cartridges just about as fast. As you start to vape, you'll discover what works for you.

Welcome, reading ECF is a good start lots of great info. You are starting with a 510 which
is a generic term referring to the threads on your battery / atty / carto, so you can buy
any combo of parts that are 510. 510 batteries have a bad rap as not lasting, but any eGo,
Rivs or similar 510 battery and charger would fit and give most a full day of vaping.:)

Then you can delve into which carts, carto, drip tip, YOU like, so long as they fit
a 510! Also you can get sample bottles or packs of flavors to find what YOU like,
the choices are almost endless. It will be a experiment for you to try and find your
perfect flavor, and equipment to fit your lifestyle, BUT IT'S FUN TRYING NEW THINGS.
:laugh::laugh:

I have carts, cartos, mega cartos, drip tips, batteries and pass thrus, and still trying
to figure out what I like best.

Flavors tried : Cuban Cigar, Slo Cure, Alabama Sweet, Marly, Kamel, Tennessee Cure, Menthol,
Rum, Root Beer, Coffee, Black Coffee, Anise, Licorice, Spearmint, Cinnamon, Cinnamon Buns,
Wyatt Earp, Cream Soda, Dubble-Mint, Pink Champange, Peanut Butter, Wintergreen
and my least favorite "pre-filled cart"

Welcome.

My recommendation for starters - 3 ego batteries either 650 or 900 mAh, 1 charger, 5 atomizers (where 3 would be stored as spares), at least three (or more) cartridges, 2 bottles of e-juice.

Cartridges can be reused for a long time. Use two atomizer and vape them alternatively (if you do vape a lot). This method intends to prolong the atomizer's life. Using only one atomizer would be too hot and wear the filament too quickly.

Others may have different methods.

Thanks again, all, for the great feedback. Some of the terms I'm still trying to learn, and what it all means. But knowing myself, I will really start to learn once I receive my order and start playing.

And out of the various forums out there, I like ECF the best. Only registered here since I know that there are so many of you willing to help.

Again, thanks. And Happy Thanksgiving!

Still confused about the carts and hours of charge on the batteries.

I hear different stories on carts. Some say I can reuse them for quite a while, some say a day (1 day doesn't seem right).

Then the battery. Is it 3-4 hours TOTAL? Or 3-4 hours of vaping time?

Once filled, carts will last for a day if you do not vape a lot but not so if you vape excessively. It will last for a long time because it is reusable by refilling juices. Happy thanks giving.

As far as how long the 510 batteries will last between charges varies by how much you vape. A person that only vapes a few inhales every hour will get a lot longer time than someone that vapes a few times every five or ten minutes. IF you are someone that really doesn't vape very often then adding a couple 510 mega batteries (280 mah) will likely be fine for you. They last me twice as long as the regular 510 batts. You can charge them on the same charger you already have. Charging time varies and honestly I haven't checked the time lately but it takes about an hour to charge. My regular 510 batteries normally only last me less than 2 hours and the mega510's maybe 3-4 hours but again all depends on how much vaping i'm doing with them.

The cartrdiges that you have themselves can be reused for a very long time. I soak them in very hot water every time I need to change the filler material. The filler inside them needs to be rinsed out and patted dry every once in a while and can be reused several times but you will find it will only last in total, again depending upon how much you vape, a week or so. There are several different kinds of replacement filler you can pick up pretty cheaply at a pet store if you do some research here on ECF.

No, it doesn't turn out to feel inexpensive when you first start collecting all you need to vape consistantly without concern for running out of something but once you do have what you need how much it overall cost you all depends on what you decide to spend your money on. IT still will cost money but if you control your spending it will be less expensive down the road then what you've been spending on cigarettes if you want it to be. Good Luck!!!:)

OOOoooooh. To clarify, I meant how many times can I refill a cart before I have to ither put new filler in or toss it for a new one.

Don't throw your plastic carts away....the filler will loose its flexibility over time and it depends on your vaping habits, but you'll notice it performs less. welcome to the forum and happy T-day!
