Hello all,

Thank you for being here and having this community to learn more about vaping.

I recently visited a vape shop here in Taos, NM, US to learn about the options so that I could try calling to quit cigarettes. The gentleman sold me a Hype curve. It tastes okay, smells kinda weird, but that's okay.
It says it contains 5% nicotine. Is this too much nicotine. I am a half a pack to a pack a day cigarette smoker for the last 15yrs.

Thank you for any and all replies. I appreciate you reading my question.

It's a disposable vape (ehh) but looks to be rechargeable ( :) ) containing a solution with 50mg nic salts.
It "might" do you OK although it could be a touch too strong for you.
Everyone is different. If you get dizzy or have nic sick symptoms (same things that got you when you 1st started smoking or as the "experts" call Nic poisoning), reduce use, drink water and take some deep breaths.

Nic Salts are smoother than freebase nic so it shouldn't irritate your throat much.

Welcome to the ECF

Thanks for the response. I'll be mindful of my use of it in the beginning. That seems to be a pretty high nicotine load lol.

Welcome to the Forum!!! Everything SupplyDaddy said is good advice. I say heed to that and if you are not having any over dose symptoms and your not wanting to smoke your on the right track. You can cut back slowly to nothing if you like. IMHO a 3mg maybe a more normal percentage to cut back to when you are ready.

Oh I have a place in Cloudcroft getting ready to head out there.

As others have said there is no concise way to measure what nicotine someone's going to need to keep them from having cravings after coming off cigarettes. We don't know the absorption rate for e-cigarette nicotine delivery no one's bothered to study that and it is a scientific study that would need to be done not an opinion thing. They have some rough estimates that shop sometimes will do. Which basically is most of the clients that come in with a pack a day habit need this nicotine and most of them that come in with a two pack a day need this nicotine to help them quit.

Mentally you may still crave a cigarette especially for the first week or two but you shouldn't be experiencing physical withdrawal from nicotine if the nicotine level is right.

You know that you have too much nicotine for how often you're needing to vape if you start getting a headache that goes away when you stop vaping for a while when you get a stomach ache that also goes away when you lay off the vape for a while. Sometimes nausea can accompany both of those things that might mean that you are either vaping too often for the milligram of nicotine or that the milligram of nicotine is too high for you.

So what you're looking for is to not be overwhelmed with physical nicotine cravings while also not getting stomach aches headaches and nausea from having too much nicotine. So if you are able to comfortably vape then you're probably where you need to be for now You can always reduce later on

5% (50 mg/ML) of nic is pretty strong. I've been testing quite a few pre-filled pod systems recently that are 5% nic, and I'm used to vaping 3 mg freebase. That 5% salt nic is going to hit you pretty hard.

You can do a couple of things here. Don't take super long drags or multi-puffs at first. Also only take a puff when you feel the need for nicotine. If you're not feeling dizzy, a rush of anxiety, shortness of breath, or like you wanna puke, then you should be okay. If you are feeling some of these symptoms, then I'd suggest finding yourself a lower nic concentration. You can also try taking really small puffs, but again - if you start to feel symptoms, you're probably better off grabbing a kit that has lower nic %'s.

    Also, welcome to Eckeff.

Yeah, I just won 5 rechargeable disposables that carry 5%. I plan on giving a couple away and using the rest as road dogs or theater stealths. ;)

Oddly, I've been noticing that many of these pod kits are not all that stealthy, lol. If you single drag like you would a cig, they can be. I tend to vape them like a very tight RDL and I get pretty big clouds from them.

I always carry a bandana. Act like you're picking your nose and folks tend to look away. ;)
