Hi, everyone,

I've been smoking regular cigarettes for almost 20 years and have just discovered e-cigs. I was in a convenience store and decided to try out the njoy King Bold. First off, I was really surprised at how close this vaping is to the real thing which is great news to me as I have tried and tried to quit and have not been successful. Here is the problem, however......a took three hits (vapes?) from the njoy and the nicotine almost knocked me over. I felt dizzy for about an hour afterwards so obviously the nicotine level is too high.

I'm in the dark as far as how the advertised nicotine levels compare to the regular cigs. I smoke Marlboro Lights so I'd be looking for something comparable to start out with and then reduce the nicotine level over time.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much for the help and it's great to be here!

Hi Insignificance an welcome,
I've been smoking Marlboro lights too, and found that 11-12 mg nic. is close.

As netwreck94 recommended, probably better start with 6mg. but order small bottles (5-10ml) with same flavor but two-three different nic. levels. ~6mg./~11-12mg.

I'm sure with little patience you'll find the best combination for you.

Good luck :)

I'm coming on in to check up on the new vaper! Hello Insignificance!
You are not insignificant and your quitting smoking is very significant.
I've been vaping for a looong time so I hope I can help you with this.
I personally vape 12mg. I found 12mg to be my perfect level.
If I vaped 18mg or 24mg I'd have anxiety creep up on me with every puff.
If I vaped lower than 11-12mg I felt like I could never get enough and the throat hit was terrible.
TH almost directly corresponds to nicotine level, so if you want a lighter TH you'll want a lower nic juice.
It really doesn't matter what type of cigarette you smoked unfortunately.
If that helped me tell you which nic level you'd like, it'd make things WAY easier, but it doesn't work that way.

What DOES matter is how much you smoked and if you want to be able to keep that pace with e-cigs.
For instance, if you smoked a pack a day and you want to be able to vape for just as much time as you smoked..
I'd recommend going with 12 to 18mg juice.
If you want to cut down on the time you spend with your nicotine delivery system up to your lips..
Then I would recommend you try 18 to 24mg.

Why does it work like that?
Because the higher the nicotine in your juice, the shorter your vape sessions will be.
For me, I can take 2 to 4 hits off of 24mg juice and feel like I've just smoked a cigarette.
If thats what you want, go for an 18 to 24mg juice.

With 12mg juice, I am happy taking 5 to 10 minutes of regular hit taking before I feel like I've had enough.
So, I do recommend you try all of the levels with 1 juice flavor so that you can figure out what YOU want! :)

1 thing that is important to tell new vapers is that with vaping,
the nicotine is ingested much slower than with smoking.
It is absorbed slower, and it effects you slower. So instead of hitting you instantly with smoke...
With vaper, the nicotine effects will actually more-so creep up on you, and they will also last longer than with cigs. I
Its for this reason that I keep a bottle of 18mg flavorless around the house.
So, I use 11 to 12mg juice regularly, but when I would like it to kick in quickly....
I mix some 18mg juice with my 12mg in an atomizer and that will actually help me keep away the cravings.

Enjoy your vaping journey!

plumes got it right for a pad smoker. If you smoke more or less, you can adjust from there or ask if you're not sure.

I smoked 1 pad and I started at 18 mg. I had to immediately reduce to 12 mg 'cause the vapor was so tasty I couldn't put it down and was making myself nic sick. I have now lowered myself to 8 mg. One day I will go down to 6, but I am not rushing it, cause I want to make this last forever.

No way I would recommend starting at 6 mg, unless you smoke less than 1/2 pad.

I agree with plumes. I was 2 pack a day smoker reds, vaping at 18mg just would only cut the edge. Now I use a 36mg maybe three times a day, and 22mg/24mg in between and I have no desire for analogs. Was trying to find the thread that had a list of nic values for analogs and the equivalent for vape, I just remember it's about around 2.5x more nic in the juice than what you get from the analog. Something to do with nic loss at the atty, and possible slower absorption in lungs.

yeah those njoy kings bold have 45mg nicotine, way higher than most people vape. i vape 24 and that seems to be a bit higher than most people can tolerate. 18 is a good starting point and adjust from there

Yeah I agree with Daniel13 here, I switched from smoking regularly (3-4 cigs a day) to e cigs and began with 24mg, which was stronger to me than cigarettes. I found myself quickly becoming very relaxed and couchlocked actually, it was very different from the nicotine buzz from a cigarette. I suspect that the cigarette buzz is muddled with many other chemicals that affect it, however with e-cigs I love the nicotine as just a nice way to relax and it keeps me from all of my cig cravings so its great! 45mg is A LOT of nicotine for an e-cig so I can see how that would seem to strong for you. But yeah I would switch to either 24 or even 16-18mg to get a feel for how much nicotine you like. Personally the high nicotine is very relaxing and enjoyable for me, but a lot of people have problems with it so its all up to preference. Hope I helped!

Couchlocked? Hmmm me thinks mr. iborn has smoked things other than tobacco in his lifetime. lol.
I would have to disagree with him though. I think a new vaper needs to try 12mg at 1st, at least one bottle.

I also wanted to comment on how you say you want to use nic for relaxation rather than stimulation.
Its been said that taking longer drags induces more relaxing effects than shorter drags.
The relaxing/sedating effects of nicotine are present in higher dosages, where the stim effects are at lower.
