Hey everyone, i do not smoke cigarettes. I will occasionally enjoy smoking hookah with friends. I am actually looking to purchase an electronic cigarette per my therapists suggestion.

He said that using one with no nicotine could help curb my eating disorder. I have seen people loose weight smoking the real thing, so i guess i could credit his suggestion.

I really know nothing about these things, but i would like if someone could send me a link to a "Crash course" on the subject. I would also like a product recommended to me.

What i am looking for:
-Under $100
-Produce full thick vapor
-Low profile, preferably one of the black/blue ones.
-Suggestion for liquids to look into.

Sorry guys, im a super noob. I just love to have my hands busy and love flavor, so i am always snacking. This could be good for me.

How long do the refills last? what flavors do you recommend? Brand? Model? etc, etc, etc.

Thanks everyone. Im sure you get these questions all the time.

-Sam

In your bushes, watching you undress
901 or 510 to get more vapor... but it will still not equal a cigarette or hookah honestly... so don't expect that.

As far as your other questions, check the KILLER vids at the top of this forum (the sticky posts) and ALL questions will be answered.

The 901 or 510 will run you about $450-$65 in the starter kits depending on where you buy, and what "extras" you want (like PCC or pass-thru).

Best of luck.

    Somewhere between here and there
I have the joye 510 and love it. I have ordered liquid from drew at nhaler and dave at rockymountainvapor. both are great to deal with and ship quick. I also ordered a sampler pack from johnsoncreek which I am really enjoying. Those three are in the US if that is important to you.I also ordered an extra kit from ruyandirect and had no problems even though they are in china. Ruyan takes about 7-10 days to get your order but their prices seem to be a little bit cheaper. Myself, I would rather have it a little quicker.

Is there a good site where i can get a 510 manual switch and some good 0mg liquid without ordering from 2 sites?

    thanks,
    sam

    Janty USA - Janty USA

The 510 there is the Dura C and the liquids have a no nic (0mg) option.

You could check out the Janty forum in the suppliers forums toward the end of the main page.

Have them trade out prefilled carts for blank ones if they don't have carts with no nicotine.

Good vendor. Higher price but good warranty.

I use the Joye 501. I fill my carts with zero-nic liquid I got from bestecig.com but didn't get my kit there and am not even sure they have it. My starter kit came with tobacco/nic carts but I ordered some empty carts and use those instead. (I keep the nic carts handy so smoking friends can try it to see if they want one; so far they all do) I found recipes on the DIY forum here so I ordered some vegetable glycerin and LorAnn's flavorings from ebay to make my own liquids.

As far as vaping goes, yes it does replace stress eating, boredom eating, and all other not-actual-hunger eating for me so I can focus on healthy meals. That's not why I got it but it does that for me anyway. Win/win! Hopefully it will work the same for you. I'm getting excited to try different flavours. I'm getting a little bored with the vanilla I've been using for over a week now. It's still good but I'm ready to try some new tastes. :D

Let me see...where'd I put my soapbox..Oh here it is...Let me just move it over...ok. I think I'm set now.
This is just my .02 so take it or dismiss it as you see fit.
You said your therapist suggested an ecig to help with your eating disorder...Honestly & again, IMHO, there are better solutions out there than taking up vaping. (really? I'm the first to say this in this post?)
Ecigs can be as cheap or as expensive as you want them to be. Some will make a 30ml bottle of juice last months & maybe burn out 1 atty in that time. Others burn that same bottle up in less than 2 weeks(me). QC on ecig hardware isn't quite there yet. Sure we've all gotten decent amount of time from attys & such but I think a lot of us have burned out hardware pretty quickly as well. Basically theres no telling how long hardware will last. Which leads to frustration at times, sometimes lots of it.
Now I'm no Dr. nor do I have any degree in the medical industry what so ever. Other than common sense & things I learned in Boy Scouts, I don't know squat about medicine but I think you need to ask yourself, is my eating disorder psycological? Do you have an addictive personality? Only you know the answer. If yes, then seriously, take up a different hobby other than ecigs. I'm not trying to be rude or an ..., thats not my intentions. I'm just saying that theres a learning curve with vaping. Sometimes it's easy, other times its a PITA which can be stressfull & if you're vaping & become frustrated over it, I can see someone getting depressed & going back to the things that comforted them...ie analog smokes or in your case, eating.
Ok I'll step down off my soapbox now:D

If you're still reading this & haven't said "screw you" by now, I'd suggest getting a Joye510 from one of the suppliers on the forums. Grab an extra atty or 3 & a few small 0mg bottles in different flavors. IMO you won't like the tobacco flavors being a nonsmoker so stay away from them. Don't expect sweet fruity flavors to be like a Starburst candy that makes your mouth water with a rush of flavor. I'm sure there might be some out there but from I've used, most flavors are pretty tame so that you can vape all day without growing tired of the taste.

Anyways just make an informed decision. Know what you're getting into & that although the risk is small, theres possible side effects as well as a bumpy road ahead learning these things.

I would think for a non smoker to take up vaping, could very well cause a new addiction. Not a nicotine addiction, but a physical addiction. Also, you need to realize the full effects of vaping e-juice are not known yet, and I for one would not take the risk...unless the alternative is a certain death (as with smoking analogs).

But I would agree the 510 with manual batteries is nice, but its my only e-cig so no real comparison, but I am thinking of ordering a jantystick for the longer battery life, and less refills that it would require.

Did you mean to say a psychological addiction?

Anyways. Thanks all for the advice. I will take it all to consideration. I do not eat due to depression or anxiety. Its mainly just boredom and i just love flavor. So i dont think that frustration of not dripping right will cause me to go down more destructive paths. Most of my fat friends who picked up smoking seemed to loose some weight just by substituting habits. I am starting to live a more active lifestyle but i just cant get around those snack cravings and at this point, i would rather loose some weight puffing an unknown substance than be slave to hostess cakes for the rest of my life.

Im pretty sure unless vaping REALLY does it for me, this device will lie on my desk burried under twinkie wrappers. I am willing to try it at this point. Its just getting rediculous. As a college student, i spend ALOT of time at my desk. I will just eat and eat just to get through a study session. Its like a fixation.

Does anyone know where to get the most flavorful 0mg juices?

And thanks again guys and gals!

Unfortunately your therapist is wrong. The nicotine and other chemicals in cigarettes are the reason for appetite suppresent...the actual mechanics and taste of smoking won't keep you from eating.

As a matter of fact ask any smoker what their best cigarette of the day was or is...9 times out of ten they will tell you their most satisfying cigarette of the day came after a meal.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

The case with this is not that i always have appetite, its that i always have the urge to eat, drink, do "something" with my mouth haha.

I rarely eat for reason of hunger, to be honest its been days since i had any feeling of hunger, because i am like a chain snacker. So If you think there is any pleasure involved in vaping that doesnt have to do with the nicotine factor, let me know. I definitely enjoy some hookah, just for the flavor and action. Thats why i think this could help.

What does he have to lose though, really? I would rather take my chances with the unknown risk of vaping PG and flavorings than with the known garbage they put in hostess and other junk food.

If it helps it helps, if it doesn't he can sell the kit to someone else.
