Yagottawanna, congrats on taking the leap!! I'll walk with you :) I'm hoping to give my mom a demo of my ecig the next time I see her because maybe it will help her as well.

Thanks! Everything in life is easier when you have someone supportive walking with you along the way, isn't it?

I can't wait for my kit to arrive. Hoping and praying I snagged what's right for me the first time around, because I simply don't have the financial means to get caught up in the "trial and error" circle. Wish me luck! (Good luck to you and your mom too!:))

Looks like so far, most of the advice has been from newer vapers. Most new vapers want to start with a PV that looks like an analog. Most of them will move on to something with a bit more oomph and better battery life shortly after. Skip the analog look-a-likes.

I'd suggest starting with a Riva. Liberty Flights generally has the best prices on starter kits.

It's a good idea to grab some extra atomizers and a good assortment of juice as well. Grab some juice in various different nicotine strengths and flavors. Several places sell juice sampler packs. An assortment between 12 and 24mg should be good enough to find your sweet spot.

Also, don't feel like you have to quit right away. Some people make the switch immediately and never look back. Some people vape while gradually decreasing their analog intake over months.

Welcome and good luck!

i would just stick with a joye 510 kit for each of you, that way when buying things like cartos, attys, drip tips, etc they will all work for either of your kits. I started with a 510 clone, got my joye 510 and loved the thing to death but i needed better battery life and more of a less hassle experience so i purchased a reo mini mod and will never go back to anything else.

Just start with a 510, a tried and tested starter kit and from there find a juice you like(this will be the hardest part of switching to vaping), then after a couple weeks to a month decide what it is about that 510 that you like, that you dislike and that you could improve on to make your experience better. Then look around for the things that you need/want in a pv and find the one thats for you.

She said they have limited funds for initial investment. It doesn't make sense to get a 510 they plan to use for only a month. This is why several of us have been recommending Rivas or eGos. Those provide much more bang for the buck and will stretch that initial satisfaction level out longer before they decide, if ever, to go the mod route.

Congrats on the decision to quit! I had tried virtually every quit method and failed, before discovering vaping. I did a lot of research here and bought a Riva 1100mah starter kit with spare battery, atty, charger, and 10 carts. I'm not fully there yet, but I am on plan. The plan was to reduce the number of cigarettes I smoke by one per day. I went from 30/day to 1/day. This morning I forgot to smoke it.

I love the Riva and am enjoying exploring the wide world of juice flavors.

I wish you the best of luck in your effort to quit.

Thank you all so much for the advice. I admit that I am still incredible confused about all the parts and whatnot that come with these ecigs.

We don't plan on vaping forever. Hopefully it will just be a few months to get us off cancer sticks. I'm looking at a Riva eGo in a separate window right now, and am lost, lol! I think I'm just going to have to order something and figure it out when it gets to my house. I learn much better when I'm holding something in my hand.

Oh, and I don't think we're going to try anything to begin with but the tobacco flavor. Is that what you all did?

Your parents are vapers, ask them for help and find out if they are on ECF, they may be able to lend you some gear to help keep initial costs down. If money is an issue be very careful it is easy to over spend when you get started, after a month or two when you have found things that you like it gets much cheaper.

My mom has one that looks like a regular cig, but has a green light on the end. She got it from a gas station. My dad ordered his for him and my stepmom, and said it was a "lovebird special." He didn't know the name brand offhand. He said his biggest problem with his is that he forgets to charge it. My mom's has gotten her off analogs totally.

I think I am going to go with a Riva 510. I found a kit for $42.99, but I'd need to buy an extra atomizer and the e-juice. Is that a good deal, or should I keep looking?

I smoked Kools, so I wanted menthol and tobacco flavor. I've tried about 9 menthols and 2 hit the spot for me.

I've never been able to handle menthols, even though that is what both my parents smoked. I've been a Marlboro girl for 16 years. Started out with Lights, then went to Mediums, the back to Lights, and now have been on Ultra Lights for 10+ years. I need a mild flavor, that's for sure.
