Hello! I'm Adrian. I'm 25. And I'm 2 years cigarette free thanks to vaping. I've pretty much just been winging this whole experience with ecigs. When I first started vaping, I just had a little V2 e cigarette. One of those really basic ones for newbies, most resembles a regular cigarette. I was even able to eventually switch to a little refillable tank for it, which I loved.

I eventually wanted something more powerful so I switched to an itaste 4 vv/vw. I used the disposable cartridges at first, but they would leak juice out of the mouth piece, so I got a kangor mini pro tank 3. The problems that I have with it are that the tank itself seems to leak down into the battery. When I unscrew the cartridge, sometimes there's a little puddle of juice on the battery where the cartridge screws on. Idk if that has anything to do with it, but my battery's haven't had a very long lifespan.. I've gone through 3 of them in the past year. They just like quit working. This morning it was fine for my first few puffs, but then it wouldn't work.. I would press the button and nothing.. Ive only had it for a few months. It's getting to be expensive, and I'm on a fixed income and it just hasn't been good..

So my question is what would you suggest I get next? I'd like to try a different model all together to see if it will last me longer. I'd like to not spend more than like $60. And I really like to stick style, not a box style.

I would vape 24mg nicotine juice in my itaste at the highest setting.. I'm more about the throat hit than chasing vapor clouds.. I was told by a local vapor shop owner that if I switched to this one he had. I would more than likely want to go down on my nicotine level because it would be stronger in this ecig he was offering me. But it was over $100.. And I did find the same thing online for a lot cheaper. He was really pushing me to buy it so I just didn't trust that attitude.. I'd like your opinion please! And thank you so much in advance.

It sounds like you've been being a bit 'lo-tech' with your choice of tanks - the Kanger PT3 (non/Mini) wasn't a bad tank in it's time, but it can be prone to leaks if not maintained 100% and that type of tank is always prone to leaving a little 'puddle' of ejuice and condensation underneath the connector - this is easily remedied by wiping with a napkin every time you fill your tank.

Your batteries might be able to be resurrected by taking them apart, washing them with isopropyl alcohol, letting them dry out completely, and they may well just start working again with any luck.

As for new gear - you could get something like a VTC Mini for around USD$30 and a Kanger Sub/Toptank for around USD$20 or the new Protank 4 for around USD$28. The nice thing about these tanks is that they come with an RBA section that allows you to save money, tailor your vape, and never run out of replacement heads again by allowing you to easily build your own with some wick and wire.

What kind of vaper are you? More of a mouth-to-lung vaper, like smoking a cigarette, or a direct-to-lung vaper, like huffing paint?

The gear you've been using, the PT3 Mini, will necessarily lend itself to more of a MTL vape, but you might find yourself wishing for a more 'open' vape with more vapour.

EDIT - Oh, and vaping with more modern, especially 'SubOhm' gear makes most people go down on their nicotine levels, as one absorbs more vapour with the higher-powered gear, so if you vaped 24mg juice in an old-fashioned CE4 clearomiser, then you'd probably be comfortable with 3-6mg using a higher powered 'SubOhm' tank or a dripper.;

I'm more of a mouth to lung vaper, but sometimes I think that's because I have to suck so hard to get enough in my mouth to give me that throat hit. I've always been afraid of building my own anything when it comes to ecigs. I don't wanna mess something up and end up blowing my face off, although I do know that's more of a battery issue, just scares me.

Any suggestions for a high powered sub ohm setup?
I tries to find some info online for taking apart my battery. I didn't do much research, but people say its near impossible to take apart the style of battery I have :/

Look at the suggestions I made in my original post - you can get premade replacement heads for those tanks I suggested and the VTC Mini is a great, really affordable mod that is really future-proof.

It's actually really easy building your own coils and wicks, it's simply rolling some resistance wire around a screwdriver, and then pulling some rolled-up cotton wool through it when you've mounted it - there's loads of videos on YouTube that show you how to do it. It's actually quite satisfying, especially when you're vaping on your freshly-built, perfectly functioning working head.

So long as you measure the resistance of your coils (on your mod, or a multimeter) before you fire them, and check them for shorts - there's not really any danger in building your own coils. It was more of a potential problem in the mech days, but with modern regulated mods, it's quite safe.

No offence, but you don't really seem the 'technical type' and I'd advise you to leave those dead mods alone (yes - they *can* be disassembled).

Hi Adrian,

I have only been doing this for about a month and a half but I have found what works for me. I used a V2 for about a week but the battery just didn´t last long enough and I wanted more power. Also the tank I had would flood or get juice in my mouth etc.

Now I have:
Eleaf IStick TC40W (probably about $30 to $40 online)
The battery lasts all day. I don´t use all the crazy features, I just leave it at about 10w.

Aspire K1 (probably $5 online)
Aspire - Aspire K1 Glassomizer

I love this little glass tank. It is cheap so if you like it you can buy 3 or 4 (like me) in case you brenak one or just want to change flavors.

The beauty of this tank is it doesn´t go down on the battery (the problem I think you are having) or flood (get juice in you mouth). This is a perfect tank for MTL vapors

The only drawback is that the tank doesn´t hold much so it must be refilled often. Also because it restricts the juice (and there for doesn´t flood) more then other tanks it takes a while to prime a new coil and not get a dry hit. For 5 dollars try it (it comes with one coil) and if you don´t like it throw it away.

Batteries won´t last forever. I think we just have to take a chance. I don´t know how long mine will last but I think the juice getting down there is shorting the life for you.

Hope this helps

Re: First DIY Order
How hard is it to get in to DIY liqiud?
And I really like to stick style, not a box style.
This is a costly caveat. Sorry, can not help you here.
In General
Lower Ohm Coils/Higher Wattage Vaping Will:
Heat The Coil Faster
Produce More Vapor, can mute taste (coat mouth/build up)
Drain The Battery Faster
Use E-Juice Faster
Produce A Warmer Tasting Vape
Shorten Coil Life
Shorten Wick Life
More PV Maintenance/Issues
More irritation to non vapers (tends create more negative comments regarding cloud production)

Stick Mod eh? Look for an innokin svd version2. A collaboration with Evolve, has a DNA20 chipset. Uses replaceable 18650. You can even subohm, yet 1.0 ohm gives best results. Go for about 30usd on Ebay..

If your a mouth to lung vapor you do not need sub-ohm. Sub-ohm is pretty much lung inhale only on all tanks. All tho it's old the Aspire Nautilus Mini is still one of the best mouth to lung tanks you can buy since the wagon/china rush has been lung inhale since then. Kayfun pre ~v5(even clones) is also a good choice if you want to build. If you don't then well don't. All tho you save money on building your own coils etc etc, some people prefer not to and that's fine as long as your vaping vs the other option.

As to mod's.. I personally wont buy a usb charge/non replaceable battery/s mode anymore there's hundreds/thousands of them out there. If you mouth to lung you probably wont break the 10-20 watt range, since you will be vaping a 1.2-2ohm coil.

Vape shops try to sell you w/e they can for profit/there personal preference. A setup should not cost you 100$ unless your going for high class mods/tanks, as in more of a novelty item.

Avoid mech mods like the plague unless you really know what your doing amps/amp draw/batteries/building etc.

Youtube/research/research again/ then look at prices via Vapecrawler

Hi,
If I were just getting started I would buy a Joyetech VTC mini. I use one every day for work. I bought a silicone sleeve for it and I have dropped it more than once and it just keeps working. I have used it with an RDA and RTA. I works just as good with both and with the right battery it will go all day. I use my old Kanfuns with a 1.0 ohm coil on them.

I just saw the SVD 2.0 at Madvapes for $19.99. A really good deal and seems right up the OP's alley.
