You don't want to use protected batteries with a VW PV. You use IMR Batteries.
I still prefer the protected batteries. Just to be on the safe side in case all somehow goes really wrong, and with chinese mods you can't be too safe I think

It is the latest multipurpose APV with the following impressing attributes.
1. The APV can work not only with 1pc 18650 li-ion battery but also 2pc 18350 li-ion battery. No need to change battery caps. If you want a short one, you can remove a short metal tube and use only 1pc 18350 li-ion battery.
2. The APV has 2 kinds of models for your choices.You can swtich one model to the other model easily.
Model 1: constant voltage. In this model, APV adjusts from 3.0 to 6.0 Volts in .1 volt increments.
Model 2: constant power. In this model, APV adjusts from 3.0 to 15 Watts in .5 Watt increments.
3. The APV can check and display the atomizer's resistance.
4. The APV can check and display the li-ion batteries'voltage.
5. Like Vmax, APV has a 510/eGo threading and can work well on most atomizers with 510/eGo threading including eGo Vision clearomizers V2.
The APV comes with only body. You need to install batteries before using.
Both Joyetech 2200mah 18650 Li-ion battery and Unprotected 18350 Li-ion battery can fit the APV.
You indicate "two working models" which means there are two different devices. Do you really mean "two working modes" which means that there is one device but you can use it either way?

They are more unsafe than IMR batteries.

I am sorry that 2pc trustfire protected 18350 batteries do not fit the APV.
however if you remove the middle short tube and use only 1pc trustfire protected 18350 battery, it works.
Does anyone know if these would put out enough amps to properly heat a dual-coil?
Judging by it's specifications definitely! Even a twist can fire a dual coil
Thanks 3rdWorldPeople. What an intriguing reply, as I have an ego twist. I was recently told that my ego twist cannot properly heat a dual coil because of the amperage limit on it and how it disperses the volts over the dual coils. Something along the lines that with dual coils the highest voltage it will go is 3.7(even turned up to 4.8) because of how it recognizes the 2 coils.
Hmm I have an ego twist too.... and it works great on dual coils
Is the VW mode tuned to RMS or AVG voltage? Please answer asap while these are still in stock.
