Welcome moran5. I think it's pretty normal to start inexpensively to see if this works. I know for myself, having tried gum, patches, Wellbutrin and the dreaded Chantix , I was convinced that I would die a smoker. I have family ,knowing I'm very well versed in the vaping scene , buy mall kiosk and gas station ecigs and proclaim that "it didn't work for me". (WTH?) $70-$80 seems like a lot of money for something we think Probably won't be any more effective than the other things we tried.
There is a lot of stuff to try and you could go broke trying it. LOL. If what you have is keeping you off cigarettes, I suggest sticking with it a few months at least. Order sample packs of juice from different vendors and find your faves. That is really the biggest challenge.
After living with your current setup awhile, consider what improvements you really desire. Some are satisfied with cig-a-likes and have no issue having a collection of smaller batteries charged because the form factor of a cig is most important. Others move on to replaceable battery mods for increased battery life. Still others want increased battery life and a regulated power supply so the last hit is the same as the first and or variable voltage and/or variable wattage.
Until you have spent some time with what you have , you really won't be able to make smart buying decisions. I went from an ego-type 650 mAh (milli-amp-hours) non-regulated setup with low resistance atomizers , to a Maxi Roughstack V2 (non regulated) with replaceable 18650 3000 mAh batteries to a Provari V2 regulated, variable voltage with replaceable 18490 IMR batteries and using rebuildable atomizers,Vivi Novas and Boge cartomizers.
There are still things I'd like to try,but I know now what I need and what I like.
I guess my point is, no need to rush. Ask questions, participate on the forums, learn all you can and have fun. For myself and many others ,vaping is much more than a means to an end. It really has become a fun and interesting hobby that IMO , just so happens to be healthier th
