I've been a smoker for, let's say, 24 years. Probably a little more, but who's counting.
About a year ago, I tried my first e-cig, and immediately went back to analogs. The convenient store counter e-cigs are definitely not worth trying!
Then back in January of 2012, I bought a standard kit from Apollo Ecigs, and was amazed at how much better they were. I used them exclusively for a few months, but floated back and forth to analogs. About a month ago, I orderd the Elips kit from Apollo, and have been impressed with it. I have been using it, almost exclusively for the past 3 weeks (an analog here or there) and been pleased with the quality and amount of vapor produced by this product. Not to mention how low profile it is. I can use it at work, and no one notices.
I went back to them the other day and ordered their "Superior eGo kit" and am sure I will be pleased with that as well. I am really looking forward to trying that out when it arrives. That will probably be my home unit, while the Elips will be my work unit. The standard e-cigs are mainly used as my driving smokes. I have stuck with Apollo because that is what I know and am comfortable with. I have really enjoyed all of the products I have received from them, and I have always experienced great support from their staff.

I'm not one to go all crazy with the custom mods people use and stuff, I just want a quality product that does what it is supposed to, and does it well. So far, that has been my experience with Apollo, and I felt compelled to share that with other newbies out there.

How's that for a first post?!?

Welcome to ECF , and whatever works for you , is the best thing to use . Glad you had sucess . Not everyone is so fortunate , and spend tons , to find the perfect vape . And not everybody ( doesn't include me ) buys all the big fancy mods . Most get into them , because their looking for longer lasting batteries , and more " hit " from the devices . Then there are others ( me , included ) thay pretty much buy every new PV that comes out . Just because we want to . I have enough devices to outfit my neighborhood . I thought about selling a lot of them off , but haven't done that yet . Hey , it's still way better than smoking .

Thank you, glad to be aboard.
Yeah, I almost abandoned the idea totally after my initial experience with the convenient store e-cig. I'm glad I gave it another go. I'm sure another year down the road, I will wind up with a few more PV's because I am like you. Have to try the latest offerings. I do think I will stick to units I can buy straight up, rather than go the mod route. I understand the draw to them, but my main goal is just to keep me from grabbing the ol' Marlboro and puffing away.

Welcome to ECF, and congrats on finding a setup that works for you!

I believe you will find, as nearly all the veterans will attest to here, that the larger the battery, the more satisfaction with your vaping experience and the higher the success rate will be to finally get off of the cigarettes. The cigalikes will get your foot into the door of vaping, and can in some cases get you completely off of tobacco, but there are much better alternatives.

E-cigs are not really a quit smoking aid, but better categorized as an alternate nicotine delivery device. So yes, you are giving up tobacco and smoke, but still using a nicotine substitute. And that's a good thing.

Where the other nicotine delivery devices fail (patches, gum, and lozenges) is that they only provide nicotine.

E-cigs also provide a replacement for the hand-to-mouth behavior that is strongly ingrained into our personalities. They also allow for vapor to fill our mouth and lungs to replace tobacco smoke. Many people truly enjoy taking a drag on a cigarette and watching the plume of smoke be exhaled; vaping can accomplish the same satisfaction with vapor.

The other devices also do not help during a time of a stronger nicotine craving. One can vape harder and more frequently to get a larger dose of nicotine; the patch is designed to time-release its nicotine over a long time period; rubbing it will not increase the absorbtion of nicotine during a strong craving.

Taking a larger dose of the gum or lozenge often results in unpleasant side effects. For me it was bad hiccups and a sour stomach, so I tended to not even try again.

Welcome. Just wants to throw out there that alt smokes is in OH, they have 2 stores. I haven't heard anything bad about them.

I'm not one for building stuff either. It is possible to curb that if you can find something you are happy with. :)
