Not sure how long I'm going to keep up with it but I'm back into vaping after a 2 year break. I used to have an NPRO and it didn't stick. It just didn't feel enough like smoking to me. A guy at work claims they are better because it has the same feel in the hand as a real cigarette. And he's welcome to that opinion. My issue was that I never felt like I had smoked. Just like I had been breathing alot. Plus... I wasn't to hot on the concept of the "batting" or "fiber fill" being used to soak up the juice. How do you keep from "smoking" the fiber? So when I saw the Ego Tank I was all for it. From the videos, it seemed like the way to go for me.
So... my first 48 hours...

I got the unit and brought it to work. Unboxed the important bits and charged my first battery. I got the Joye Ego T kit from Cignot.com with the 1000 mah batteries and shipping was lightning fast! When I had placed the order, I couldn't figure out how to add a shipping upgrade. After I placed the order, I figured it out. To late so I thought. I emailed Vicki at Cignot with a hopeful request to have priority added to my order. This was at 5am. Later that day heh, at 6 am I received an email from Vicki telling me that it was no trouble at all to add the priority option. Awesome! Got an email the same morning at 10am that my order shipped complete with tracking number. 3 days later it was in my hands! Very cool!

First Impressions:
I love the ergonomics of this kit! I like the soft rubber-like feel of the finish. It might look a little on the large side if you're thinking about trying one. Don't worry about it. When you're holding it in the hand it feels just fine. Just keep in mind that your thumb or index finger will be on the button, the majority of the unit is hidden in your hand. It drops into my shirt pocket and barely peeks out the top. I call it a win.
Also... if you're on the fence between standard resistance attys and low res... GET THE LOW RESISTANCE ATTOMIZER! Very well worth it. More vapor, and more importantly more flavor! Seems right off that the vapor might be a little hotter as far as temperature goes so that might be up to personal preference. But I love em! I have heard people say that the standard resistance attys tend to sap the flavor out of their juice. For some of the juices I've tried so far, I would tend to agree. I ordered 2 standard attys with my kit in the hopes that I will be ordering an Ego Booster from happyvaper.com I still think i will try it as it seems like that will decrease the draw time necessary to get a good strong hit. For me, the Ego is performing VERY well... much better than my old NPRO. But the 5-6 second draws are getting a little old. Although I will say that I can still bring myself to a point where the hit is a little full and strong, almost to the point of coughing. Which is good. It means that my theory that a larger battery and a better atomizer would keep me more interested in my kit and less likely to have a real, or analog cigarette was correct. While I haven't put the analogs down all together yet, my smoking has been cut in half or better. I'm trying as best I can to keep track but I really don't think I will be posting stick counts here or anything.

A little more on performance.
One thing I am noticing is that I start getting rough or burned hits when the tank gets a little low. This matches other advice I've read stating that at a certain point, the liquid level in the tank will be below the opening in the spike and thus will not wick any liquid down into the atomizer. Boy is that right! I've decided that I will top off my tank when it is half empty to avoid this. Of course, this will mean a LOT of topping off but it's better than that burnt taste... yuck! It's making me think that I might be trying the Type B atomizers at some point soon so I can enjoy double the capacity! I filled a tank last night and around midnight, and had already run through it to the point of the burned taste by 8pm the next day. While the type B is larger, it might be worth it. Of course, matching a type B atty with the Booster, and a 1000 mah battery gives me something more like a flute than an ecig but I'm more interested in performance than appearance at this point. If you're thinking you'll be the opposite, come find me in 2 years when you're ready to give it another shot!:p

Leaking?
So far no! which is a good thing. But I'm still checking it often to be sure. I was under the impression that the tanks used some system similar to that of a water cooler like at the office. It seems I was wrong. From what I can tell, it's surface tension that keeps the liquid from leaking through the tank cartridge after it has been pierced once. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. That's not to say that it's a bad design. But... I would think if you're thinning out your liquid with water or alcohol... keep an eye on it. Also, I would imagine that when the liquid heats up, it will become thinner and thus might have a higher probability at leaking. So I would stray away from keeping it in the car or in a pocket for extended periods... it's just a theory, but it seems sound.

Juices
My advice, buy only 5ml bottles at first until you find something you like. I thought for sure that I would need a steady supply, and that I might as well order some larger bottles. I was wrong. Now I'm stuck with more than a few larger bottles of liquid that I probably will never get around to vaping. Live and learn. So far, Vanilla is my favorite from Cignot, but I will be ordering from a few other suppliers to try things out.

Draw
I won't go on and on about this as it's very much up to personal preference... but I did remove the middle "block" out of the mouthpeice of my tank cartridge. I won't go very far into it but look it up on youtube, there are several videos out there. nicfitnation comes to mind as he's got at least 2 really good reviews on the Ego Tank and they seem to be pretty spot on. He discusses removal of this middle block. I have to say, I'm impressed with the improvement. I haven't had any leaking of the condensated fluid yet but I'm keeping an eye on that as well. It means a good strong hit, for me anyway, is a 3-4 second draw instead of a 5-7 second draw. Good stuff.

Other...
Not so sure for now. I will keep posting to this thread as I have thoughts or experiences related to my Ego T or by vaping. Apologies if I've forgotten something but feel free to ask questions and keep an eye out for updates. I'm well aware that none of this is new information for anyone that is familiar to vaping or to the Ego... but maybe it will be of some help to people that are in my position and just starting or just getting into some of the more effective PVs.
Take care.

Nice review.

Next time get the LR "B" tank. It has an even easier draw, although the A is a big improvement over most others.

As for leaking, you don't mention your juice composition. I had intermittent leaking using 100% PG. This virtually vanished when I switched to 80% PG, 20% VG. I read that 65/35 is even better. And 100% VG is bad because it clogs things up. But people who talk about the tank rarely mention their juice composition !

Heard so much about the LR Boges that I had to get some.

In complete disagreement with the comment above, I couldn't stand the Boges. You can taste the filler, they draw hard like sucking through a straw, and you have to top them off a lot. It was like going back in time for me. The tanks are much better for me, especially the B. Although, perhaps if you use pure VG you might have a problem. I use 80 % PG right now.

Thanks for the replies folks... I wanted to post a little update.

Billo... I had originally ordered a mix of liquids from Cignot to get me started. I have to say, I didn't really like a few of them. The one I've stuck with is the Vanilla, however the box or the bottle doesn't list the PG/VG content so I'm assuming that it is 100% PG. I did order some 80/20 PG/VG base liquid that I might try introducing to the vanilla after the last 24 hours experience.

Continuing on with my experiences...

Battery Life
I charged my first battery on Saturday night. It is now Wednesday night and it's still going strong! Now I haven't been vaping full time, I'm still having a few cigarettes here and there and I know why. I keep getting dry hits I think. There are some pulls on this Ego that are, let's say "Buttery Smooth". Some hits on the other hand, are harsh, hot, and have that peppery taste to them. I've taken some of the advice from the forums and videos I've seen that tell you to 1) continue to draw on the unit about 1/2 second after you let go of the button... and 2) take a few "dry puffs" where you barely pull on it a few times without pushing the button before you turn the unit on and vape. I've even taking to drawing for 1/2 second before the button push AND for 1/2 second after the button release. And dry puffing here and there. It has seemed to be working BUT....

Here's the BUT...

today was the first day that I've had a leak out of my Ego Tank. After I spent the 5 minutes to clean the unit up and be sure I got the battery cleaned out I tried to think this through and figure where I went wrong. I came up with a few ideas.
1) I probably overfilled the tank. I've heard that this is bad and doesn't give the unit enough room for an air bubble to rise to release more liquid. And I have to admit that I'm pretty sure I did overfill it.
2) My Tank refill method. What I've been doing is simply pushing the tip of the 10ml bottle I've been vaping straight into the hole on the top of the tank to fill. I started doing this because I had heard that the more you pry the lids on and off of these things the more they are prone to leak. So I figured I won't pry.... hehe. BUT... I think that pushing that rather large plastic tip into the hole has moved the plastic "chad" bit a good deal more out of the way than it usually would be, and making it leak. Also, I'm not sure if this could have enlarged the hole or not but it seems like a possibility. I have noticed that in the recent days from refilling this way, that the refill isn't going as smooth as it used to. It used to just drip right in with no issues. Here lately, last 24-48 hours, when I use this refill method I tend to get alot of liquid "bubbling" and running back out of the top as I drip into it. This didn't used to happen.
3) Maybe I'm "priming" or dry puffing to much and flooding my atty. I've read of this many times on the forums but I can't seem to find the balance between having a saturated atty which will give me a good, mellow, buttery, awesome, lovely hit... and the point where there isn't enough liquid and I get the burned atty taste. I wish I knew a trick to better find it! When it's smooth... it's awesome!
4) after my first potential "overfill" earlier today I tried to tone it back a bit. I will admitt that the last one MIGHT have been a little full but I wanted a really good and full Tank for the long drive home. Although, it wasn't as full as the first leaking AND... here's the kicker... it held it's own for over an hour and multiple puffs and didn't start leaking until I was almost home. Where did this come from???

That said... I'm thinking that a simple "wick adjustment" as I've read on the forums and seen in videos might be my answer. If the liquid is flowing better and I get those smooth hits I won't need to prime puff and dry puff my atty into flooding.
I'm also thinking I should seriously get a blunt syringe to aid in my refilling rather than wollaring things out as we say.
If there are ANY other suggestions I will be happy to listen!
This hasn't turned me off the Ego Tank I want to say! I came into this knowing that there may be some tinkering with either hardware or liquid mix before I really find my sweet spot to get me off cigarettes completely. I am also aware that I might wind up with a different ecig setup all together... I'm flexible, but I like the form factor we will say.

So... please offer up some advice! I need it.

Also, please tell me if this is a correct thought or incorrect one. does vaping at a higher voltage improve the smoothness of the vape or does it make it more harsh? Seems like a dumb question but I see it completely possible that heating the liquid "to completion" MIGHT make it taste better... not sure though. no laughing...

Thanks again for reading everyone and I'll keep you posted on Leak Gate 2011!
