Hey folks, read the entire thread. Interesting stealthy little device. Love the rba option. Is there any way to recognize old stock (usb port issues) from new stock? Different markings, revision number?

;)cig

I wish Dave would come elaborate on that. His post was the first I had heard of it. Mine is fine. I do notice a tighter fit from different cables to different devices, but I don't know that I would blame that on either....

That's weird from Sweet Vapes: they are usually quick to fix an issue

Of course, I'm standing in their store when I bring them an issue...
And, one thing we ought to consider is that it's the busiest time of year for retailers. It's easier now to make a mistake than it would normally be. Sweet Vapes does seem to have a good reputation and seeing as how same device came straight back, it sounds like it may have just been a simple mistake. I was in retail for a few years and it's hard to keep everything perfect... I'm glad they're trying to make it right!

You saw my edit and repost right? They finally called. They will be overnighting new unit and shipping label/envelope for defective unit on Monday.

That's just one of many of the stupid things we put up with.
Why deal with vendors that don't post on their website:
Location....
Address....
Phone number....
Point of Contact....
We should demand these. Or just not deal with them.

Funny thing to me, I never noticed that there isn't an easily found phone number on the website til I needed the number... it's not under contact. I ordered there before without issues. Chuck said they had experienced employee trouble the last few days. I could tell he was sincere and felt terrible. After talking to him I felt much better...
Now, I just got my rba from cignot ... Since I have the mod still, I am tempted to try and see if it will fire with the rba?!?!

Another thing I noticed with the device is when I pushed the power button it made a sound -like a ringing or whistling. The noise continues as long as its blinking. Once the light went out the sound stopped. Anyone with a good unit hear this sound too?

No, I just hear sizzlin' atty sounds... :) Sorry to hear about your mix-up, but happy you are getting it sorted out. ;)

EDIT: It won't be long till you hear your own sizzlin' atty sounds.. :vapor: Hang in there..

Yeah, You had a defective unit. You had weird stuff that nobody else experienced. Nothing you could do about it.

Four, should I take this to mean; no there are no identifying features to delineate between old a new builds?

Finally I have received the RBA and I really like it. I think I will be ordering two more. So here are my first impressions:

1) Since the RBA came fully assembled with coil and cotton, I first vaped it out of the box. It was quite okay, but had some hint of weird taste. I assume this would have dissipated had I kept it and vaped some more. Really, just a a very faint weird taste. The other thing that I noticed is that the RBA is airier and noisier than the pre-made coil heads.

2) I didn't really care about the included coil, since I wanted to put my FT coils in and see how easy or difficult it is to build this thing. Pleasant surprise: this RBA is well thought out and is incredibly easy to coil and wick. I have tried to run this RBA dry, but I can't. It just keeps wicking perfectly with no gurgling (although it is slightly noisier than the pre-made heads, but not too bad)

3) The FT coils and cotton taste really great and I now have at least a two-year supply of coils to put in for just $3 total cost. I think that I may simply re-wick occasionally, but the coil will likely last a long time.

So all in all, this is the perfect addition to the eGrip and cannot recommed more highly. If you are on the fence, don't hesitate, you will be very happy with the purchase.

Care to post some pics of the FT coil installed on the rba? What wattage are you running it at?

I'll post some pics tomorrow when I have some natural light. I normally vape at the lowest setting, but of course I also cranked it up for test purposes and it performs well at all wattages, even at 20W. But that is too much for me.

Oh, and the noise has died down now after I've vaped for a while. It's simply perfect for me.
