Wow, that is very surprising. I would maybe pull a seal off one of the stock coils to use on the rba so you don't have any leaking issues in the future.

Just done that now, thanks. Out of interest what are the other 2 seals that come in the RBA kit for? They are thinner than the one that fits in the top

Pretty sure those are juice seals. Not tank seals per say because those are large trapezoidal seals but juice seals none the less.

Very upset with joyetech customer service, this my 2nd return to them. The first was doa and the second was having the charging port issue. Took about 2 weeks to get the 1st one back and the second one I sent back the Monday before xmas. No respose to phone messages and no emails about what is going on, I don't even know if they have it. Might just buy another one from Cignot.

In October I bought mine from Vapor Beast. 3 weeks later it quit working. VB said to send it back, which I did. When they received, they actually called me and asked if I wanted a refund or another unit. I wanted another one. 2 weeks from sending to getting another one. VB has excellent customer service. But, I don't think they carry the kits like Cignot

Sorry to hear about your probs with JTech. The Cignot Ladies won't let you down like that. Broke my glass tank the first day I had it. Contacted Vicki at Cignot and two hours later I received usps tracking info for a replacement.

Good luck

So Cal
Magnets came in and I am very pleased. Here is what it looks like:

This magnet fits almost perfectly. It snaps right in and I cannot get it out without using tweezers. No amount of shaking will dislodge it. It reduces airflow to about the level of a fully open airhole of the built-in airflow control. That's still a bit too airy for me, but pairing it with a tighter drip-tip makes it perfect for me. In case any one wants to try this, here is the link to the source:

K&J Magnetics - Products

I ordered these today, and chose the $5 shipping option - no tracking, so I hope they arrive!

Phew! Read this entire thread from beginning to end.

I've got a month-old EGrip that I'm mostly pleased with. What I like: the tiny size, the self-contained nature, the solidity of the build, the ease of use. What I don't like: the short longevity of the stock coils (less than a week, and I never vape higher than the 2nd click which is 9.5 watts): by day 5-6 they're spitting and gurgling and the vapor is suffering. The black paint isn't that durable...it's already started chipping around the Joyetech logo and at the edge of the tank. And no battery warning light is annoying.

Still, it's a fabulous gadget besides the drawbacks. I'm tempted to get another one. I've got the RBA base en route as well. This has me seriously considering ditching my flimsy plastic VMOD bottom-feeders. (I also have several other mods including an Istick which I like too, and I've got a mini Istick winging its way to me.) The Egrip is so much better. :)

Hi scarf-ace, the stock coils aren't much chop, but the rba is much, much better IMO. There actually is a crude battery indicator on-board, the little blue light under the wattage wheel gives a few very slow flashes when the battery gets a bit low, instead of a solid "on" that then turns off. Then it flashes faster when its nearly empty. If you are tempted to get another, the satin silver finish appears to be paint-free.

I'll be darned... thanks for that! I never would have guessed.

Oh two other things I wanted to mention: I usually vape juices with similar flavor profiles so I've never felt the need to clean the tank. But I did it anyway, and it was too easy: use a syringe to squirt 2mls of water through the feed hole, close lid, shake, and use the same syringe to suck the water out. Done.

And in my experiments with (non Egrip) RBAs, I have an indispensable tool for coil maintenance: disposable mascara wands. The bristles really work well to dislodge crud and buildup, but they're gentle enough that they don't disturb the coils. In my RTA I give my coils a weekly grooming with the wand--about 60 seconds of brushing both in and out, a quick dry burn or two, WAIT for coils to cool off, then another final brush to get rid of ash. Voilà, sparkling clean, residue-free coils. Most drugstores have packs of them for a few dollars.

Yeah, I've been keeping it at the 8 watt setting to try and eke a few more days out of the coils, and I honestly haven't noticed a massive loss of flavor between 8 and 9.5. Honestly I think for the standard coils, 20W is just wattage overkill.

Scarf, welcome to a great thread. Love my Egrip too.

Wattage does effect wick longivity and when it's spot on, vaporizing the juice at its optimal temperature, your wick life can be greatly extended. But too low of a power level can be just as detrimental as too high. At insufficient power levels many of the components of the juice remain in the wick and are not carried away in the vapor. They collect there and cook into the wick and sooner than expected your wick is producing nasty burny tasting vapor. Conversely ,too high of a wattage setting can burn juice into the wick as well but at least it is easily detectable early on.

So where's the happy place? It depends primarily on the juice pg:vg ratio and added flavorings, but as a general rule if you run your wattage just below the burny taste point of the juice you will achieve the longest wick life.

Example. When running dirty naturally extracted tobacco blends in my dripper at 30w I can vape about 3-4ml before wick change/dryburn. At 40w I can vape 10ml. Same thing on my Protanks and RTAs, running at the highest wattage without a burny taste results in the longest wick life.

I have never used the CS heads for the Egrip but would try setting the wattage higher than 8 watts; could be helpful for wick life.

As a general rule I have found that flavor intensity follows as power levels are increased as well; up to a point. That point being just below burny taste.

So perhaps you're thinking, "my battery life is going to suffer if I turn it up"! Not really with regard to mils of juice vaped per charge. If you turn your wattage up 25% but take 3 second pulls instead of 4 second pulls you are actually using the same amount of battery mah but are gaining the added flavor intensity and increasing wick life. Win-win imo.

Just watched todds video. I'm just wondering if anyone has been using a egrip with the aspire bvc coils. I want something hassle free for work. What's the vape quality like compared to a rbta?

I have tried them and like them very much. With the Aspire coil in, the base when screwed in, will not be flush, but it is pretty good!
