I think the original coil heads are kinda crappy. I dunno.. I got much better flavor and wicking out of the BVC coils. I'm interested in trying the GS coils though. In your opinion, the GS coils perform better than the BVC ones? They are slightly more expensive than the BVC ones so unless they perform a lot better I probably wouldn't switch.

I don't know if I would say that they perform better than BVC, I think they are comparable. I'm really an aesthetic person, so the fact that I couldn't close the bottom all the way with the bvc made me a bit neurotic. I find the GS coils to allow just as high a heat as the bvc, I think the flavor is great on them and it solves my neurosis. A win/win as far as I can tell.

14w without dryhits is pretty good for this tiny atty, especially considering the juice delivery mechanism of the rba (juice feed holes) and limited airflow. I chain vape mine at 14w but can max it out at 20w if I give it 5 seconds to resoak between pulls or draw slightly harder than normal. It requires near perfect coil symmetry and spot on wicking to get there though.

Wick tails must reach the bottom of the well to have access to all available juice during a pull at 20w or it will quickly run dry. Cotton must be kept fluffy for speedy juice transport to the coil. Cotton tails must cover all four juice holes to stave off flooding as atty temp rises. Cotton deflection(compression) within the coil must be consistant throughout.

Even with ideal coil geometry and perfect wicking max chaining wattage for this rba is limited to about 14w imo. There's just not enough airflow through the device to support higher chain vaping wattages and attempts to get there have resulted in escalated atty temps and flooding. Ymmv

What's your coil build spec?

I have no problem running at 20w, one draw after another. In fact, I think it could honestly handle 25w+ easily.

I have found best results to be a 2mm coil, nice snug wick which doesn't reach the bottom of the well. I just snip the wick upwards resting by scissors against the base. I have had no leaking issues so far.

I found by keeping the wick longer it struggled to keep up. I run at 20w no problem, and it could be notched up another 5 imho with no issues.

Thank you very much for your detailed info. Can you please upload a picture of your wicking setup, too?
My coil is around 1.5 ohm, 7 wraps around a toothpick. I use the RBA 510 adapter to make sure there are no hotspots.

Have you fired it on a 510 base to look for hot spots? It may be the pics, but when I look at the coils there appears to be a difference in the burnishing of the individual coils - might indicate some of the coils are getting hotter than the others. I switched off of the cotton and went to rayon and was much happier.

Yes, I did. The coil in the pics is pretty gunked.

I've tried rayon (Fiber Freaks), still same result.

I just rest my scissors on the rba base (bottom white part) and cut up. Not a very detailed explanation but it works for me.

Phibes, things don't look too bad with the coil. Just that third turn from the right is shifted,or just smaller in diameter; hard to tell. Either way it will keep the wick from making firm contact with neighboring turns (2 & 4) so the temp of those two turns may be racing out of control at higher wattages. Install another coil and see what happens. Symmetry is your friend.

Just wanted to put my recent experience out there of the eGrip w/RBA.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a creature of habit. I find something that works that will meet my needs and I will stay with that one thing, usually no matter what. I think this comes with growing older! So, change doesn't come easy for me. But, sometimes changes are needed. I said all this just to say that the eGrip w/RBA is what I've been missing for over the past year. Remarkable little device for sure. I been strictly MV eGo spinner with 2.5 ohm Kanger for two years. For those out there thinking about quitting the analogs, now is the best time to it. The technology in these ecigs has finally caught up to the point that analogs cannot compete with. You can enjoy the nicotine without having to trade off the pleasure with poison!

I've only had my eGrip for about 4 days now. I used the stock atty that it came with for a day before switching to the RBA. I wanted to know for myself if there really was that much of a difference. Will, add me to the choir, because the RBA is 10 fold better than the stock atty. I can't get over the flavor of my juice. I've been vaping that for two years also. You know how vaping the same juice over a period of time will seem to loose it's favoring. Well, I've just rediscovered it again! Remarkable really.

All that said, I've only experienced leakage from the RBA air holes two times the past two days. Nothing serious, a few light drips, but it's there. Both times was after filling the juice chamber. Not sure if I would call it over filling. I blow through it, use a small piece of paper towel to ream the moisture from the RBA air hole and I'm good for the rest of the day. It's early and I'm still learning this device. But I can see myself happy with mod for the next couple of years. I can't wait to see what's available then!

I use those little round, colored yard sale stickers to label e-liquid bottles. I just slapped one on the bottom of my egrip and poked a small hole in it. It works.

Just to update. The sticker slowly got saturated with liquid, which dissolved the coloring. It didn't rub off on anything but I imagine it would be a nasty bright green stain if it did! Maybe just a piece of tape.

Can you post a pick of the"pin vise" or whatever you used to drill it out?

As much as I like the functionality of the egrip, I keep wondering how small they could make a cube style, narrower but thicker....
I just prefer the grip of the istick, and every time I switch back to the istick, I look at it trying to figure out how they could reshape it comfortably to add a tank and RBA....
I know, it would not be as pocket friendly....

Which hole did you plug? And...how do you read the watts? With the "20" at the top are you vaping at 20 watts and what are the other marks for?

Yeah, I think that is part of my problem with it. The glass tank and atomizer don't seem to account for it weighing more than 2x the istick, which has a larger battery.

Be careful: air holes must be drilled downward (straight in will hit the chimney). And they have to go through the post of the RBA (and the screw holding it)...

It's much more solid. thicker, and maybe zinc aluminum alloy body.
Once you put a nautilus mini on the istick it starts to catch up in weight. Although the Egrip is STILL 50 grams heavier. I think it feels much sturdier than my istick.

Stealth vaping I usually have the palm surrounding the eGrip and use the index finger to fire. That way however I find my nose touching the index finger when drawing. Twisting the hand slightly resolves the issue but it doesn't come naturally. Am I the only one having that issue?

Having the fire button on the opposite side would also allow for smaller drip tips imho.

No, You're just the only one that thinks that they could change that.
The button is on top of the bat, no room for it on the draw side. That's why it's a 17500 instead of an 18650. Unless they did something like I was suggesting with a side by side design.
But I don't know if they could incorporate the fill holes without making it huge. I was thinking of a flatter tank...
But yeah, Why is it so heavy?
Maybe to increase sales of the V2L "light version"!!
