This is the pool of juice I get right underneath the drip tip- usually more than that tho.

I was getting this too - that's condensation building up from vapor hanging in the air tube / chimney after a draw, and collecting in the void between the flat bottom of the drip tip, and the countersunk shape of the drip tip cavity. I went so far as to create little tiny cotton donuts to stick in there under the drip tip to soak that up :p

Forget who it was that posted the suggestion, but it was really simple / ingenious: Just keep drawing a bit after releasing the fire button. It pulls that leftover vapor out, thus no condensation. Been working for me now over a week, cut the condensation down like 90%. I think enough collects in there that surface tension or whatever allows it to hang at the top of the air tube / chimney, so on the start of the draw, some people were getting juice in the mouth. Or, it was draining back down the air tube / chimney, creating gurgling / minor flooding.

And I have to say: I'm finding Rutch's vertical build very intriguing :2cool:

Here's my build thus far... Forgot to take a photo of it wicked. 28g, 8/9wraps.
looks good! Only thing I would change is the "bottom" leg of the coil should probably be attached to the larger of the two posts. The way it is right now, if that coil touches the deck is it going to short out.

Apologies if this was already posted somewhere, but I only found reference to the wire that comes with the RBA at 0.3 mm - this is 28 gauge, correct? And anyone know what type of wire it is? Think I'm going to take a shot at a vertical build myself to kill an evening tonight, now that I have the third leftover RBA to play with.

What I'm getting isn't condensation. That's just what it looked like when I got around to taking the pic. There's way more juice under the tip than that. With the first eGrip this never happened.

I know it's not Kanthal because it's not magnetic and Kanthal is magnetic.

Well, I gave a vertical build a shot... and it works great! Even more flow, and flavor is unchanged. When I said I was gonna kill an evening with it, I didn't lie - took the better part of 7 hours of tinkering. Was taking my time and doing other stuff like dinner and on the phone, though.

Since I had 3 RBAs, I had 3 of the spare wire coils the RBA kit comes with - I went through 2 of them on 7 attempts to get it right. 8 wraps of it around a 3/32" drill bit was spot on at 1.5 ohms, give or take. Finally got it all good on the 7th try. Biggest problems were:

- Getting the height of the coil low enough to not touch the underside of the RBA cap while still having the coils spaced some, and not having the bottom touch the deck

- Getting the wicking right - I used the cotton that came with the kit, wound up wrapping the inside of the RBA tube / chimney and using the inside threads to hold it in while installing, then wrapping a second layer over that and tucking it in around the coil with the tube installed - we'll see how that holds up)

- This was the RBA base that had one of the screw threads stripped out of the box (though it's likely I did it) - it's the one in the larger post, and I wound up using the tiniest piece of teflon pipe tape to keep the screw in there tight so the coil leg wouldn't pull out on coil adjustment

Sorry, no pics yet - gotta call it a night, but suffice to say I modeled mine after Rutch's, and want to get some time on it to see if it works right. It's been only an hour or so since I finished.

Thanks much to Rutch and all for the pics and suggestions! :toast:

I have got a egrip 2 days ago and having some major issues. One is that there seems to be always some small leak at the base during and after vaping particularly around the airhole and at the edges. And the bigger problem for me is that the juice consumption is ridiculous...one full tank does not even last me half a day ( 4-5 vapes) so given how difficult it is for me to get juice...its a big problem. What I do notice is that the juice level sink even when not using the grip so it's either lost through the leak or possibly coil still heating the juice after switch off. Anybody else encounter similar issues?

I am only running 8 watts and not using RBA base and I had changed the CS atomizer head twice and that didn't seem to help.

My first egrip suddenly stopped working. This morning it suddenly started firing by itself and then went dead. I can't charge it or get a light to come on at all now. I called Joytech USA and left a message on their website, but there's no way to know if the message actually went through. I still have the warranty card in the box, so I hope they honor it!

Any other experiences dealing with them under warranty?

My first Egrip was thru VaporBeast. Getting it replaced was easy with them. Total of 2 weeks from the time I contacted them to receiving my new one. I've read some people aren't to pleased with Joyetech USA
