Check this out. On the left is the evod head in the old style base. On the right the evod is installed in the new style base. Sorry about the pic quality but you can see the head on the left has more room around it vs the right.

Nothing wrong with the ProTank2 Base.
You simple found you like an Airy draw.
Many did Not and used the evod coil to reduce airy feel.
Kanger responded by making adjustments to design.

Now, Rebuild an actual ProTank coil and try it in the New Base
New Base - ProTank Coil
Old Base - Evod Coil
Results should be very close.

Evod coils are larger Diameter than ProTank coils (originals)

It's ok. Just have to adapt. I'll have to use the evod shafts on the protank base for it to work. A bit annoying but that's the world of vaping sometimes.

Where is the shaft on an evod?

BTW Eric.. there another BCC that the evod heads work in.. i know you had a list going so you might want to add it. (It says they don't fit on one site.. but they do).
It looks great on a provari IMO
Tumbler Bottom Coil Tank

I really hope they don't phase out the EVOD head bc that's going to force me to do something i dread.. rebuild.

Well they stopped making the evod heads anyway, from here on out they're the same. Any new evod/protank/protank mini/protank2 are the same unit. So make sure you've got rebuilding them down I guess, if the evod is your preference. I've only had protanks and like the draw so I have no point of reference, is it a noticeable difference?

I put a evod head on one of my protanks and honestly cant tell much of a difference if any. the evod tank does have a tighter draw but when you put the coil in the PT it doesnt have the same tight draw IMO and feels like the regular protank coil. JMO

Good catch Eric, makes me shy of getting any new kanger products myself, as I am in the "tighter draw" camp... Kinda why I went over to the cartotank camp, I suppose. I have two shiny pretty protanks that I rarely use now. I'm not sure I want to move to the PT2, just because after paying $18 a pop for these, I don't see enough of a reason.

I do love my EVODs though.

Don't mess with my EVODs kanger! y'hear me!!!! *shakes fist*

my protank heads dont fit in my evod. mine are fast tech evod though so maybe thats why

You have a serious issue.
Protank and Evod heads are the same threading and interchangeable.

Evod heads fit FT clone Evod - therefor Protanks should be no problem. Maybe you need to swap pipes to the shorty. Longer Protank pipe is the only variable.

Maybe you missed this:

Kanger has moved to one coil head for both the evod and the protank, it is the protank coil (longer tube) now being used, they are no longer making the shorter evod coil. This coil will fit in your eVod.
You will be receiving the longer stem coils.

Kanger eVod/Protank Coil Replacement **5 pack - 2.5 ohms

All have the longer tube, but all are the thicker Evod assembly

If you look at Eric's picture you'll see the bottom assembly is thinner than the thick evod assembly. There needs to be a gap in the base of the protank head for proper airflow.

I'm thinking Kanger updated their base to be stronger thus not accommodating the thicker Evod base. It was probably never kangers intent for us to use evod heads in protanks. We figured that out through trial and error to fix the air issue. Now I'm so used to the looser airflow.

I just got two new Pro-tanks (not II's) and they have a tighter draw than the originals. Also the tip opening is smaller. I like them both, but I think I like the new ones a little better. As for the evods I have, they have been using my Pro-T coils since the originals that came with them went south. Soak in Vodka, zap in the UC, and they are lasting weeks now. Might try rebuilding next, but DV has them so cheap they aren't worth messing with for me yet. (But the idea of a micro-coil intrigues me)
