I think you are talking about the three rings that are included and come assembled. When you get it all three steel rings are installed and there should be a small clear polycarbonate ring and one that is full size in the box. You can assemble the tube with three steel rings or two steel and one short polycarbonate ring, or you can leave off all three steel rings and use the full size polycarbonate tube. I use the full clear tube so I can see how much juice is left.

There should be a bag of o-rings. The skinny black ones are for use with the clear tubes.

Thanks for the info and video. One more stupid question. How do you fill the tank?

The videos should have shown you.
You fill it from the bottom where the phillips head screw is. Don't fill it all the way, maybe a bit less than 4ml. is fine. Make sure you parts are snug together before you fill it.

The "correct" way to fill the tank is to unscrew the juice fill screw on the bottom of the KFL+ tank. You'll need a needle-pointed juice bottle; I use a separate blunt needle and syringe. Insert the needle into the hole and inject 3 - 4 ml of e-liquid. Screw the fill screw back into the tank.

The Kayfun-style tanks work via vacuum, or negative pressure like a cartotank does. Some people fill their tank from the top before assembling the top pieces, but this requires putting your finger over the air inlet hole on the bottom base or the juice will leak from here. Its simpler to me to just fill through the bottom fill hole.

You'll likely want to change your wick every 3 - 5 days (if using cotton), so you'll either need to vape the tank dry or remove the e-liquid with the needle/syringe from the bottom before disassembling the tank. I dry burn (pulse fires) the coil between wick changes. No need to wrap a new coil for several weeks now.

I use the regular blunt/dropper that comes standard on most bottles. Just push against and squeeze it in the fill port at a slight angle, gentle even pressure, it works for me and faster than those skinny needle tipped bottles.
You can and should try it both ways. I have very little - if any mess to clean up..

Lots of great answers to your questions in this thread, but I do have to ask one. Do you have experience building coils? If not, do take care when you are building one for your KFL+. Read, read, read and then read some more. Always check your ohms to make sure you're operating within a safe limit for your battery and nothing is shorting out. Learn, experiment and have fun but do make sure you understand how things work and what can potentially go wrong.

One of these is good to have. You can switch it off and use it for a stand to hold the coil deck while you are recoiling. Then, switch it on to see what resistance you just created. Do that every time before firing it up on your mod for a dry burn check.

If you are using it on a mech, this is a must. On a variable voltage/wattage mod the electronics will catch a short and report it to you. On a mech, you run the risk of a meltdown if there's a short circuit where a wire is touching ground.

Robin,

That's not fun or entertaining advice for the rest of us. Now what's schapiro going to post about in the vaping mistakes thread?

:p

Oh well..... Bwahahahaha!

If the OP has the newest KFL+ from Smoe(howeverthatisspelled) Regular tip bottles work for filling from the bottom. They have recessed the fill hole and the bottle top fits in there nicely. No need for a needle bottle or syringe. :)

I do the top fill method and hold my thumb on the air hole. Screw top back on till it just holds, turn upside down and screw it on tightly. Release thumb from hole and you should see a bubble or two when right side up.

If juice is leaking from the air hole, clean it with some paper towel and tap the hole 10-12 times as if you're pushing air through it into the tank. Take a dry pull or two and should not leak after that as long as the top is well secured.

This is how I do it.

Another detail on filling the Kayfun:

Remove the drip tip, rinse it and set it aside.
Tear off a piece of paper towel, roll it up and stuff it into the hole for the drip tip.
Turn the Kayfun upside down and fill it.
Remove the paper towel and reinstall the drip tip.

Reason for doing this is, juice collects in the recess below the drip tip and when you hold the atty inverted it drains out the drip tip.

Ahhhh! I wondered why sometimes liquid would come out the drip tip. Thanks for that tip! :)
