I do the top fill method and hold my thumb on the air hole. Screw top back on till it just holds, turn upside down and screw it on tightly. Release thumb from hole and you should see a bubble or two when right side up.

If juice is leaking from the air hole, clean it with some paper towel and tap the hole 10-12 times as if you're pushing air through it into the tank. Take a dry pull or two and should not leak after that as long as the top is well secured.

This is how I do it.

Question: how far up do you fill? All the way up the threads? Or to just where they start?

Thanks in advance :)

I fill with the top cap removed and my thumb over the air hole in the side of the base. I do have to tilt the tank after filling and blow any excess juice from the air intake into a paper towel through the air hole after re-installing the top cap. As long as you tilt the tank enough to prevent juice being pressurized into the coil deck channels, there's little to blow out. You get a feel for doing it without a lot of juice intrusion after a few fills.

A few rapid spins while holding the atty mounted on the battery will eject any juice left in the air hole. Doing that with a paper towel wrapped lightly around the tube will catch the drop that comes out. The manual lists this as the "classic" way to fill. My collector cap (that covers the fill hole screw) wouldn't budge when new, so I had to use this method. After a few tank fills I found myself being able to do it quickly and without much juice in the air intake area and you don't need a phillips screwdriver to do it that way.
