Ehhhhhh...... jury is still out on those Aspire ICR batteries. I'd treat them max 20amp continous, you can check @Mooch 's blog, believe he's done a stress test on them. Second be careful with that SMPL mod, what ever atomizer you use on it, make sure the atomizer has an adjustable connection pin, or the pin protrudes out enough to make contact, in all honesty I'd suggest an on Chi You over a hybrid 510 connection mod like the SMPL

Hey everyone just picked up a smpl mod by wotofo. And aspire 18650 1800 mah high drain 40 amp batteries. I have a velocity and just curious whats the safest i can vape at. I have steam engine app as well. Is 40 amps max continuous dishcarge?

If safety is a priority, you shouldn't use a mod like the smpl, which has no centerpin.

For a safe vape, try a 2 ohm coil.
I guess a 3 ohm would be safer.

I do not think there are any 40 amp continuous batteries.
There are several 20 continuous batteries.

Awesome thanks guys. I figured the 40 amp was a bit of a stretch and a bit of a gimick. I was fooling around with it. I have a velocity and the centre pin sticks out nicely so no chance of shorting. And i have a .8 ohm build on it. Just curious if i am on steam engine. I put in my resistance. I want amps to be lower than 20 correct for the calculation?

When considering how low you can build you need to give yourself some headroom.

I try to never exceed 50% of the CDR (continuous discharge rating) of a fully charged battery (4.2v). So with a 20A battery (like the Samsung 25r), that would be 10A. This Ohm's Law Calculator tells me that a 0.4Ω build is as low as I would want to use.

The reason that I place a 50% limit is because as a battery ages the mAh of the battery degrades, as the mAh degrades so does the batteries c rating (amp limit). So down the road, a 20A battery may only be a 10A battery."

Here are links to some of @Mooch's battery blogs:

* No matter what is printed on the battery wrapper: There are no 18650 batteries with a genuine rating over 30A!
