Be careful with that K-100 mech. It has some known safety issues, including using a bottom fire button. Bottom fire buttons have been known to "autofire" in pockets and purses. Even those with locking fire buttons, they can malfunction. Some models also have no vent holes, or vent holes which become obstructed when the mod is assembled; should a battery vent inside, the mod becomes a potential pipe bomb. Seriously, invest in a better designed mechanical mod.

Initially, build only normal resistance coils (1 ohm or higher) when first getting into rebuilding coils. There's a lot to learn before getting into sub-ohm territory. Once you have a couple of normal builds under your belt, then experiment with some sub0hm.

Be sure to have an ohm reader or digital multimeter to measure your coil's resistance. Never fire a coil which has not been already measured; and re-measure it periodically to insure it has the same resistance. A loose post screw can unknowingly alter a coil's resistance.

Start by selectively reading my Blogs. Information Resources for Your RBA, Battery Basics for Mods, Explain it to the Noob: Ohms Law calculators, Inexpensive Mech Mod and RDA, in particular.

Research and do more research. Know what batteries to use; know their amp limits. Learn enough about Ohm's Law so that you understand how the coil resistance will draw so much amps from the battery, and to never exceed that battery's amp limit.

Hi all I just recently got my first mech mod I went with the k100 and a smok tech caterpillar rda and I have a samsung 25r 18650 battery. I want to try out sub ohm builds. Please throw me any advice or suggestions you have thanx

Advice or suggestions:
- do your first builds using a regulated mod with a screen where you can see things like ohms and volts etc.
- use the steam engine coil calculator.

Thanx for the replies. I plan on using pre made coils instead of making my own. And I have an mvp 2.0 that I can use to check my resistances I am working on gettin a volt ohm meter. And I don't plan on going lower than .5 so I should be good right? I know I need a better mech but I have a tight budget any suggestions?
Yup this is a very well made Stingray X clone , you can't go wrong with it . BTW , are you a Saints fan or an ex-Saints fan ? :) $34.30-$35.99 (Ship from USA)SXK 18650 Stingray X Clone Mechanical Mod

0.5 ohms sounds good as far as subohm goes.

Things for you to be carefull about are like,
    - the coil shorting out on the side of the rda, or especially on the topcap when you put the topcap on
    - locking the fire button especially if putting the mech in your pocket
    - ensuring that the battery wrapper is in good condition - bottom fired mech depend on that wrapper.

if you build for use on your mvp2 you should be able to use a 2 ohm 30 gauge single coil.

I am a saints fan even though lately they aren't doin so hot I am still loyal lol. Another question what are some other good batteries to use for sub ohm and some reputable vendors?
The new AW's are fine , also Sony VTC4's and VCT5's if you can get them . RTD is one of the most trusted vendors for batteries . Batteries and Chargers

Use only IMR chemistry batteries (never ICR). Stick with well-known name brands like AW, Samsung, LG, and Sony. There's a list of recommended batteries in the below link; pay attention to model numbers and the amp rating specific to your needs.

Trusted vendors are RTD Vapor, Illumination Supply, Lighthound, and Orbtronics. Avoid buying off of EBay or Amazon, as many of those batteries are re-wrapped knockoffs from China.
