Hey Guys,
I'm an older guy that is kind of new to vaping. I have done the EGO thing and am basically tired of burning out batteries every month or so. So...... I need some advice on moving on to the next level.

I basically want a setup that I can get for under $100 but the battery will last. I am not a heavy vapor....only do it a few times a day for about 15 minutes each. Should I go to a mod? If so, can you guys give me your advice and step me through what to buy, I would rather buy some sort of "all in one" kit so it won't get too confusing. I do not know anything about mods.

Anyway....thanks guys. I appreciate your time and effort :)

Homeby5,
Firstly, egos should be lasting at least a year. Buy from top suppliers or go talk with a vape shop. Kanger, JoyeTech, Smok are some of the manufacturers that offer great egos.
Secondly, you can do a lot for under $100: best option would probably be the kanager emow which is a starter kit with variable voltage and it will have everything you would need for a few months (except eliquid); a non-complete set-up would be an eleaf 20 or 30 + kanager subtank nano would put you under the mark;.
Lastly, I wouldnt recommend a mechanical mod unless you want to deal with a non variable device and your intent is to use an RDA.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Welcome to ECF!
I've been recently researching good start up kits for a friend of mine who smokes and wants to give vapeing a try. I can't recommend this personally, but I thought it may help you to know, I keep going back to the istick 30 and Aspire Nautilus. I research things to death! I use a mech and RDA, but I wanted the best and most simple for her, hoping she sticks with it. She just placed her order today for two of them. From what information I was able to gather, I'm confident in this choice. Just my opinion, thought it might help. Best of luck to you! And again, welcome :)

I'm wondering if you recharge your batteries!

Welcome to ECF. Your best bet is to do some research. There are mods and tanks out there for practically anything you could want out of vaping. Youtube is ripe with reviews and tutorials for those getting into vaping. Going to a local vape shop can also be helpful. They should be able to help you out and get you a setup you like. As previous posters have stated, the istick 20w is a solid device. I used one for a while before upgrading. It has killer battery life. The main thing to keep in mind is that because it is a 20 watt device, it won't be able to run any sub ohm coils, so if you get one, make sure your tank's coil is above 1 ohm. If you are interested in using some of the sub ohm replacement coils (which usually produce more vapor than coils above 1 ohm), the iTaste MVP 3.0 is a great device for that and goes for about 60 bucks, so it can still fit your budget. The Kangertech subtank nano and aspire nautilus are both great and affordable tanks with relatively low maintenance.

Hope I've helped you out a bit. I've grown quite fond of vaping since making the switch from the stinkies and am always willing to share my experience on the subject.

Great combo that I use and would suggest, is an IStick 30 watt/50 watt, and Kanger SubTank mini. Internal battery, so you just plug it in, and go. The SubTank has a clearo section with replaceable coils like you're used to, and an RBA for when you want to get into more advanced vaping.

I have heard nothing but good of the istick 30. I just got the istick 50 which ha sbeen great for me so far...but i have heard more than just a tiny percentage of owners have had issues with it auto firing or firing on its own or something.
I have issues with mine firing in my pocket, but I believe it to be the button being just a hair too sensitive. No qualms from me. I power it down when not in use.

Thanks guys :)

Let me ask.....Does variable voltage really matter and if so why? I have read articles about burning the liquid but I would like a real opinion from you guys.
Also...coils below 1 ohm. Is there a big advantage of using a coil less than 1 ohm beside a little more cloud? The reason is because I am looking at the iStick 20 vs the 30. I like the size of the 20.....

Let me preface this by saying, this is just my opinion. I am a long time Vaper, new to the forum, but this is my opinion.

The 30 is nearly identical in size to the 20 watt. It is not a huge difference. And, with subohm, you'll get more cloud, better flavor etc. (when it comes to prebuilt coils) subohm is just all around better if you can. VV/VW can be a huge difference As well. Compare that to a mech mod. You have your 1.2 ohm coil heads, with a mech, you're pushing 4.2 volts through it. 14.7 watts. If you take the same coil head on say a Sigelei 150, and push 7.5 volts to it, you get 46.88 watts. When all other variables are the same, the more voltage you apply to your coil, the more production you will get. To a limit. Do not try putting 75 watts through a 1 ohm build. You will get a dry hit and burn your wick. But, in general, VV/VW devices have the edge every time.

For a new vaper MVP 20w with an Aspire Nautilus is all you need. Buy two sets so you will have a backup and your set. Or you can get a MVP 30w for adaptability later down the road.

Why some people would recommend a subohm tank to a new comer I will never understand...you don't need to start with that kind of setup. Work your way up to it. Rebuildables are a learning curve so do your research. Mech mods are advanced unless you already know battery chemistry and ohms law.

I wish you luck my friend and here's to many years of happy vaping!

Welcome to ECF homeby5. Stick around, there's a ton of knowledge and know how here and you will most likely be a contributor eventually. Just seems to be the natural order of things in the vaping lifestyle. I'm glad you found us.

The setup you bought is great and will give you a few different ways to experiment with finding your vaping sweet spot.
