Hello everyone,

I have just recently found out about E-cigs and this forum and decided to join. I have been watching a lot of Youtube vids which have been really helpful in this new world of vaping. I have been a smoker for 15 years roughly, and have finally decided to try this instead. The benefits compared to analog smoking are just too numerous to ignore, so I am glad to find such a friendly and knowledgable community in which to discuss everything.

I just received my first order from Vapor4Life, I got a Vapor King which from what I have gathered on here is also known as a KR808. I am really enjoying it right out of the box, I can see why it is so popular. I enjoy smoking mostly when I am out in bars drinking, so the sleeker design that resembles a normal analog appeals to me greatly. I know there are a lot of more "hardcore" models for better vaping at home with mods and such I still wish to learn about. But this seems like a great starter for me. I got mostly sample packs of carts, the premium or "cool carts" as they are called. I am curious though, they seem to make a crackling or popping sound when I take a pull on them, similar to real cloves do. Is this normal and very common among e-cigs?

Thanks for any info and I am looking forward to a lot of great interactions on this site with everyone :2cool:

Yeah that is normal. BTW you can add liquid to the cartomizers. They are soft-caps. I can get 4-7 days use out of one if I keep it damp. But if you have auto batteries then you need to be super extra careful to make sure a refilled (or filled blank) carto is clean and dry on the threaded end and not going to drip before putting it back on the battery. Auto batteries are much easier to damage with juice leaks.

its the e-liquid atomizing...in fact the crackling noise, or lack thereof actually, is a good way to tell the cart is getting low and a good way to not hit it until you burn up the filler.

I noticed the noise kinda disappear and opened up the tip and sure enough, was getting dry...time to fill!

The first couple I ran till there was little or no vapor and that was where the cart also hit that funny taste that tends to stay with it after that.

Fill it before you kill it...!

I love that crackle noise. It means I'm about to get that TH I'm craving.

Someone correct my newbie statement if I'm wrong, but the place you buy your kit from is not the maker or model of the piece. Ie, Vapor King 901. Wicked 510. Etc etc. You can buy the same type of piece from dozens of places, but many will be simar models if not the exact same manufacturer. I'm spending more time reviewing customer service and price before making purchases. I can get the same parts from tons of places. I think the only exceptions are for name brands like Joye and Ego? Someone who knows if I'm right/wrong help me out here.

correct - anything labeled 510 should be 510-threaded. However some will be real Joye 510 (the original manufacturer), some will be good clones, and some will be crappy clones. Ditto for 901 - some will be real, some will be clones. The DSE901 is the real one.

And I recommend manual batteries. Many of these places that put their own name on things only sell autos. Most people here use and recommend manuals.

One clone 510 thing I recommend is the mighty fine PCC at NoSmokeVA.com - it's for standard size 510 batteries only. I hope someday someone makes a tall one like that for 510 mega xl batteries.

One other note - not every model that looks identical is identical. Like KR808D-1 (Vapor4Life) and KR808D-2 (Greensmoke) - not the same. Not compatible. And KR08D-1 is the threading supported by carto and adapter manufacturers for new accessories.

Cool, thanks for the information, and the welcome wishes everyone :) I will try some manual batteries next, the autos are working well so far, but I know they can have issues with liquid ruining them possibly.

@JWebb Yes things here are running as normal, I am in the southern half of the country though. Up north there are still lots of problems of course. Spirits seem to be better than last month now though, so hopefully will keep improving.
