My husband and I browsed this forum. I decided to join after reading so many of the new members threads and how fast responses were given. He too will join in time. So here is my story in a nut shell.

Smoked: 2 years or so
Packs a Day: 1
Tried to quit: 1 of those years
Methods: Patches and cold turkey
Success: 0%, 1 day to 2 weeks and I'd be back to what you call analogue
vaping Start Date: January 25, 2012
PV: V2 Mini Cig & V2 Passthrough
PV (ordering): Hoosier's Kgo
Success: I'm pulling it off, my husband isn't with the current PV's.

My story, the longer version.

One day as I was doing normal browsing of forums and what not, I noticed an e-cig add for Smokeless Selects. It was a 10 day trial. I was so excited I opted in, but after some youtube and google searching found it would be a stupid idea. So I waited to get the package, returned it to sender, and called them up to cancel. In the meantime, I tried V2's pretty blue mini cig (V2 Shorty Cig (100mm) - V2 CIGS) and their passthrough (V2 POWER-CIG - V2 CIGS). I wanted something that looked like a cigarette to a degree, and would feel like one. My husband also tried it.

I've somehow managed to stay away from tobacco with this system, but it takes vaping near constantly on their 18mg carts. He was completely unsuccessful and returned to packs. Their cartridges 90% of the time are stale and nearly tasteless even with the passthrough that is much more powerful than the mini cig. The assortment pack so you could try all the flavors was a nightmare. So many disgusting, stale, near flavorless carts, but I smoke them anyway for the nicotine and the sheer will that I refuse to give up hope (or waste the money).

After reading here we decided on Hoosier's Kgo and finally figured out which carts go with them, bought some eliquids from them and Vapor Bomb. Now we are just waiting for everything to come in the mail. We have a ton of sample eliquids coming, 195ml. I really took PaporPlas' post to heart: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/252976-dos-donts-first-timers-newbie.html on that one. I literally spent my entire paycheck doing nothing but trying to get a set up going for both my husband and I, as well as dipping into our savings a little bit. I'm 100% committed to this. So for the next two weeks we are living off his paycheck after bills. I think it'll be worth it.

My hope is my husband will switch to vaping as I have. I'd rather get a cheap Crown 7 disposable for $10 if I forget my charger and passthrough than EVER try another tobacco one. Every time he smokes his tobacco cigarettes around me I want to gag. The smell is awful.

I've already hit and am in the middle of the coughing out all the disgusting crap that has built up in my lungs. I'm hopeful that it is nearly overwith as it seems to be lessening somewhat. I think that's it. For those of you who bothered to read the whole story, thanks, it feels good to get it out.

Welcome to ECF and Congrats on your success thus far!!

i haven't tried the KGO personally, but a whole lot of members have given it great reviews. as far as your husband is concerned, perhaps the nicotine level wasn't high enough for him. if the liquids you ordered are 18mgs and they don't do the trick for him, i'd suggest trying 24mgs.

Welcome!!! Congratulations on your success and determination. When you get your KGO you will be SO much happier, and you will be able to trade determination for sheer happiness and desire. Seriously, I love mine! You'll also be much happier when you can use your own e-juices instead of the stale ones you got. When you do get a chance, I highly recommend getting cartomizers for your KGO (you can get them from hoosiers as well) instead of using the cartridges, they last SO much longer, and you may even find yourself upgrading to a carto with a tank like I did just recently. Here's a picture of my KGO with its tank on (LOL ya gotta dress them ya know).

thread.jpg

For now though, even with just the cartridges you'll be much happier with the better producing kgo

ya the kgo is great starter kit you already bypassed the first mistake of most ecig newbs by buying the ego tank version. good thing you didnt waste your money on that. you will love the kgo and the cartomizers. the throat hit and flavor will amaze you compared to what you have had in the past. if you havent already when you get some extra cash grab some LR boge cartomizers they are the same price as the regular ones. the LR stands for "low resistance" and that makes warmer vapor, more vapor and better throat hit as well. you can fit 1ml of liquid into most standard size cartomizers. if you want o refill less you can always up the size to xl which can fit around 1.8ml 2.0ml. if that doesnt do it you can even grab a carto tank which is a cylindrical shaped container that you palce the carto inside and holds about 3-5ml depending on which carto you use. you will love the kgo. enjoy and welcome.

Welcome! What a great post! I bet you will love your KGO and juice (hopefully, I love VB juice) and it goes well for you. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions at all when your kit arrives.

I think when your husband gets the KGO and a juice he likes (that's the tricky part) he'll switch over as well.

Best of luck to both of you!

Welcome. Yes, I did read your entire post. That is one thing that you'll learn about the majority of the people here. We do read and it isn't at all a bother. Your KGO will be a great PV for you. I can almost bet that it will also win your husband over as well. Read the information here at ECF. We know it can be mind numbing. We'll help in any way we can.

First, hello to you all. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and get to know me! On to the personal responses.

Shizzle
: Luckily, I'd already thought of that. All of our nicotine vapes are 24ml so he can try out mine and me his. I also bought a few 0 nicotine ones to vapes just for the fun of vaping. Thank you so much for caring enough to respond with that!

TamiP: I've come to trust everyone here when they say using their own e-juices is better so I am positive you are right. That's why I'm so excited. I did get two kinds of cartomizers from Hoosiers. 5 packs of Boge 2.0ohm LR cartomizers for 510 and 25 Smok tech Dual Coil Cartomizers for 510 (Dual Coils:Clear XL 1.5ohm w/logo). I got him 2 packs of the Boge and 10 Smok tech to try. So question, staking a tank over top of a carto fixes the flavor/hit inconstancy problems of just having a tank? Also with this set up the tank kind of auto drips into the carto for you? You have me completely intrigued!

jtracc: I bypassed the tank system because I read on here that people were not enjoying how one minute they had a great flavor and throat hit and the next it was barely doing anything, the very next breath! I did go with the xl carts, because let's face it, I'm a lazy thing. So lazy that I opted into drip tips too so I wouldn't have to fuss with cart tops as much. Now this carto tank is a new thing for me...and it sounds good IF it is as consistent as a normal carto. That'd end up being my newest question.

swedishfish: Thank you so much for the well wishes and encouragement. I think you are right too and it's just he needs something better than we got.

bigtiime: I have been reading and reading for over a week now before I drew up the courage to introduce myself. You all are always so warm and friendly to newcomers that I finally went to myself "Stop being such a scaredy cat!" I'm REALLY hoping to win him over. My order comes in first so I'm probably going to give him my back up battery and try to get him to start too. Fun little fact, I'll be getting the package on my birthday, February 7th. Whee!

jj2: You know, it might not be the worst idea. If I end up with a flavor I don't like I could put it into the pool and then try some new ones from other people. It's something to think about. I'll look into it more later. Has anyone had any bad experiences with PIF that I should be aware of?

Dhuu: That is an excellent warning to me, always make sure to have spares. I'm so glad to hear another success story with the KGO. It makes me feel like I went the right route.

EricHill78: Brent was so nice on the phone when I had a question. The poor guy is so backed up he had to shut down his site for two whole days. Now that is what I call a SERIOUSLY successful business. I'm even trying some of his eliquids. Congratulations on getting your new KGO. Is it as good as everyone says it is? I really am too excited for my own good. ;)

Sorry, I did read your post, but missed the fact that you bought cartos, I misread, thought you ordered cartridges, lol. Anyway,

YES, the tank feeds the carto constantly so you don't have to keep adding more to the carto manually to keep from burning it. Even though cartos are FAR better than carts, they still have to be kept wet otherwise you risk burning the inner "felting" or whatever you call it. It's not really something you have to do all the time, depending on how heavily you vape, maybe every 1/2 hour to hour, maybe even 2, but it can be hard for new vapers to tell when that carto is getting dry (being new myself, and having burnt more than a few, yummy -- not, it's definitely something you learn to avoid. The tank lets you vape without worrying about drying out the carto. When you get a tank, you'll get a predrilled carto with it (you can also use standard cartos but you would have to punch your own hole in it there are lots of youtube videos showing how). Then you fill the carto and the tank, and as you vape, the tank feeds the carto.

The one drawback--you have to find a flavor you like before you try the tank, it will last you anywhere from 8 to 36 hours (a full tank lasts me about 28-30 hours, it's a 3.5 mil tank, they also make larger ones). So you definitely don't want an e-juice in there you get tired of fast. I did that the first time and had to end up draining the tank, and putting in a new punched carto (you can buy refill cartos for tanks that have the hole punched in already, or again, do your own) and refill the tank. LOL It's not the end of the world, but I could have avoided the hassle by putting a juice I knew I loved in there first.

PS-yes, Brent is GREAT!! Shout out to my Hoosier neighbor, lol. He put up with me the other day something awful, I must have drove that poor man crazy. He's super.

The one I have now (pictured) I got from Brent at Hoosier (just click on the KGO link for all the accessories that fit with it when he's back up). I have just yesterday ordered one with a side port for easy syringe loading from mom & pop vapor shop ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE / E CIGARETTES STARTER KITS AND E LIQUID NICOTINE FROM MOM AND POP. I'll let you know how I like that one when I get it. Hasn't been shipped yet, so probably will get it mid to late next week.

Hi there, welcome to the forums and I have to say, what a wonderful opening post. It sure sounds like you have done your research and have have picked a great selection of well rated kit.

I haven't been at this long but like many here, including yourself was commited to making the switch. It took me a couple of weeks of buying and trying before I found a couple of setups to my liking. If I had stumbled upon ECF earlier I probably would have made some better decisions and saved quite a sizeable wad of cash, however, that doesn't matter because I got there in the end and am truly loving my vaping experience now. I sincerely hope that the same goes for you and your husband.

My personal favourite bits of kit I have bought are a carto tank and an atomiser designed for direct dripping. That way I have a solid all day vape with no hassle or worry about topping up or tasting burning carto filler, mixed in with lots of flavour changes in the direct drip setup.

excellent! and, you probably already thought of the following, too, but just in case:

if you find 24mgs to be too high at any point (especially if you find yourself chain vaping, like i do! :vapor:), you can mix in some zero nic to lower the total nicotine level (hopefully, it'll be two flavors that go well together!).

TamiP: You are an ANGEL. Since I'm still waiting for my KGO anyway I'll wait for you to decide if the other tank was worth it or not before buying one for myself. Your research is very appreciated!

MrGiggly: First off, I love your name. I am ALWAYS giggling myself. Second, thank you so much! I really tried to research as hard as I can. I just wish I found ECF before I found V2. Oh well, better one mistake than several!

Thank you again for the well wishes for my husband and I. I hope you are going to stick to vaping as well as it is so much healthier. If all goes well with Jason and my new PVs I will be working on two coworkers, my father, and my hair dresser to switch. Analogues are BAD darn-it!

What do you use for your direct drip setup? I can see myself wanting to change flavors a lot when the mood strikes me...and on other days just wanting what I like. It sounds like you have a lot of the same tastes in vaping I do. What fun!

Shizzle: The ones with 0 nicotine were actually paired up with 24ml nicotine ones. For instances I got a cotton candy in both 0 nicotine and 24ml nicotine. Not for that reason, but it did cross my mind. Who knows? Maybe I'll half and half it for 12ml, or 3/4ths the no nicotine for 6ml and smoke nearly nonstop for a while and use the straight 24 for work days. It's so versatile and fun!

I'm brand new to this, and have successfully stopped smoking analogs and do not feel any craving. My successful recipe was starting w/ the Mistic from Wal Mart. The normal tobacco flavor did it for me. Tasted like an actual Marlboro Red to me, but with a slight sweetness from the PG. To avoid the sweetness, I just took drags that hit the back of my throat instead of letting them hit my tongue.

Filled an empty carto w/ Johnson Creek Tennessee Cured and that is now my very satisfying every day vape. It seems to need a longer drag to generate as much vapor as the original Mistic tobacco, but boy does it satisfy. I enjoy it way more than smoking Camel Lights which I have done for a very long time.

I tried the V2 kit and found both the Red and Sahara flavors to be extremely disgusting, and I did not like the pull on the V2's.

Hope your husband finds the right combination, because as you know, it is very nice to drop the filthy smoking habit. I would suggest maxing out the nicotine for the proper throat hit if the lack of that is part of the hold-up of switching from analogs.

Good luck to you both!

When you get your KGO you'll have everything you need for direct drip. Put the atty on the battery, take out the cartridge that is in it, drip a few drops (1-3) directly into the atty and put on a drip tip and enjoy! That's good for between 2 and 8 good draws. I love tasting new juices that way before loading it into a carto, or just when I'm in one of those moods when I want to keep changing flavors.

Note: when you first get the kit, you have to blow the primer out of the attys (there will be two atty/cartridge combos in your kit). They come with a primer in them to protect them, but you don't want to burn that, icky... lol. Just hold up the battery side of the atty to your lips and put a piece of paper towel or kleenex on the other side, and blow through it several good hard blows.
