Hi all Josh here I've been vaping for two years last year noticed a rash develop on eyelids which moved to back of ears and back of hands, wrists, and penis. The flat red spots on penis...As you could imagine I was freaked out I went to urgent care three times I thought I had everything under the sun ...I was essentially dieing I was tested for everything all negative....then one day it dawned on me that maybe it was the ecig...hmmm...went to store bought some nicotine gum and gave up.the ecig for a day. ...guess what.im better Im.going to live :) ... must be allergic to something in the juice ..anyways just thought I'd share since I know some people have experienced the same thing. I hope this helps I won't be going back to ecigs until there is more studies done for now i just hope I can stick to the gum because I don't ever want to smoke analogs again ...kinda bummed cuz I did enjoy vaping but not at the expense of my skin ..

I have vaped a lot of different flavours. ONE gave me a rash. It was sold by the most famous retailer in the UK who test all their liquids.
It sounds like you got unlucky.
Enjoy your Nicotine replacement therapy. Better than death, I agree.

Sorry to hear it bro. As long as the gum is working, GREAT. Yah, don't smoke, whatever ya do.. I'd take a rash ALMOST anywhere over cancer.
Coupla things. I have noticed that PG SLAYS me. I cannot do 100% VG, and it seems like as long as I stay above 50% VG, it is controllable, but man, PG tears me up. Boils on my head under my hair, Canker sores in my mouth, oily skin and acne.. You COULD be just allergic to PG. Have you tried vaping a Max VG juice, to see if that alleviates the problem? Just a thought, only hoping to keep you away from the Cigs, man. :)

If the Gum works for you, stick with it! If the Gum does not work, instead of going back to cigarettes, maybe you could try a different juice or juice manufacturer. If you search the forums for allergies, they are not unheard of. Either way, good luck on staying off of cigarettes!!!

I completely disagree with you. We are all grownups here, and I applaud the OP for being open. His post may help someone else that experiences the same symptoms and comes to the forum looking for answers. Or maybe someone else has had his same symptoms and can offer the OP some more advise.

Lol... I think @leftyandsparky was just kidding. Ya know, TMI!! Just something we say when somebody mentions something a lil embarrassing. I certainly didn't see it intended as an admonishment or anything.
Let's not assume the worst. We aren't here for a long time, we're here for a GOOD time. :)

I agree but we are not web md, most likely he has an allergy and there is nothing wrong with telling people that. I didnt need to know every body part that it covers. I'm not a prude but the is a open forum we are not nurses and doctors
Everyone reacts different to vaping

when somebody has an allergy (example some people have a peanut allergy) they try to find out what the allergy is and avoid it, not give up eating.

at least its not a nicotine allergy

so much has changed over the last 2 years it would be surprising if you were vaping the same setup as two years ago.

meanwhile for stuff on hands and face, i'd expect, but the other part.... ok that's downright alarming

fungus comes to mind though

it's not that surprising. He's gonna have residue on his hands, and I don't think most people usually wash them BEFORE tinkling, so, it seems pretty natural. Ever go pee after eating habaneros

It does sounds like an allergy, which often presents as a rash. Could be some particular flavor, or could be PG -- I'd suspect the flavors first.

If the gum works, great. If not... maybe try a different way of vaping, different flavors, max VG, rather than tossing out the baby with the bathwater.

Could be an allergy, could be dehydration. If you smoked, and didn't get those rashes, then it's not nicotine you're allergic to. That leaves propylene glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, and the flavoring.

If the gum works, there's no need to continue vaping. the most improtant thing is.. stop smoking. do that first. If you think you're going to relapse and the gum doesn't work, then I suggest you figure out what you're allergic to and try vaping again. The most popular allergy in vaping, is people allergic to Propylene Glycol (PG). there are quite a few juices out there that are full VG. good luck trying to quit.

I don't think it's TMI... the one thing the different body parts have in common, is.. they're part of your body. If something affects it in a bad way, then It's best to try to figure it out, or let other people know so it won't affect them. I had the luxury of being raised by a mother who was a nurse, and my sister was a nurse... Dinner conversations usually ended up being quite...verbose... in all parts of the body. If it taught me one thing, is that if it's a problem, no matter where, it is still a problem that should be discussed. This forum is about vaping, and if vaping caused a problem in that area, I see no reason as to why it should't have been mentioned.

actually sounds like a nickel allergy, by chance were you using a nickel build or ever get rashes from cheap jewelry?

The symptoms of a nickel allergy include:
  • rash or skin bumps.
  • redness or other changes in skin color.
  • itching (possibly severe)
  • dry patches on the skin that resemble a burn.
  • blisters (in very severe cases)
  • sweat at the point of contact with nickel may worsen the symptoms as well.
  • rash.
With near pure nickel wire it would get pretty intense.. The thing that made me think of this is because the best guitar player I know is allergic to the nickel in guitar strings he gets the bumps on his fingers and on his forearm that touches the strings as well.
