actually sounds like a nickel allergy, by chance were you using a nickel build or ever get rashes from cheap jewelry?

The symptoms of a nickel allergy include:
  • rash or skin bumps.
  • redness or other changes in skin color.
  • itching (possibly severe)
  • dry patches on the skin that resemble a burn.
  • blisters (in very severe cases)
  • sweat at the point of contact with nickel may worsen the symptoms as well.
  • rash.
With near pure nickel wire it would get pretty intense.. The thing that made me think of this is because the best guitar player I know is allergic to the nickel in guitar strings he gets the bumps on his fingers and on his forearm that touches the strings as well.

Good point! Nickel is highly allergenic to a LOT of folks; it didn't occur to me, because instead of a rash, cheap jewelry turns my skin black, but it does itch!

Hi all Josh here I've been vaping for two years last year noticed a rash develop on eyelids which moved to back of ears and back of hands, wrists, and penis. The flat red spots on penis...As you could imagine I was freaked out I went to urgent care three times I thought I had everything under the sun ...I was essentially dieing I was tested for everything all negative....then one day it dawned on me that maybe it was the ecig...hmmm...went to store bought some nicotine gum and gave up.the ecig for a day. ...guess what.im better Im.going to live :) ... must be allergic to something in the juice ..anyways just thought I'd share since I know some people have experienced the same thing. I hope this helps I won't be going back to ecigs until there is more studies done for now i just hope I can stick to the gum because I don't ever want to smoke analogs again ...kinda bummed cuz I did enjoy vaping but not at the expense of my skin ..

As you said you have been vaping for 2 years, I am assuming you have not had this rash for that long. So, ask yourself what was new prior to the rash appearing? Did you get a new juice in? If the answer is yes, that is likely your culprit. I'd say it is some ingredient you are allergic to. If this is the case, switch back, or switch to something else.

On the other hand it is also possible while you were not allergic to whatever you had been vaping for the past 2 years before, but now your body has developed an allergy to it.

Once your rash goes away, you could perform your own home test. Place a drop of juice on your skin where you will remember doing it, wait a day and see if there is any reaction. If it turns red, bingo you have your culprit. If it does not turn red, it would probably be ok for you to then try a vape. Of course if any rash re-appears, stop.

Edit: It could be something else you had contact with then stopped coinciding with stopping the vape. Clothes washed in a new detergent, something you ate, etc. that caused the rash and still not be due to the vaping.

Just options in the event the gum does not work out for you, or if you miss vaping.

Good luck

This exactly -- you have to be sensitized to a substance to become allergic to it. My son ate coconut for years... but before he was 20, suddenly coconut leads to anaphylaxis! I took penicillin till I was 9... but at the age of 9, penicillin started giving me hives (which is kinda what that rash sounds like).
