Hello all,

New member from Northwest Indiana here. I live about 30min southeast of Chicago. I'm new to vaping. I have my first kit on order.

Does anyone know of any local vape shops were I can get cartos or atties in a pinch?

  • GLV-2 Super Mini full Polished Silver
  • Joye LR 306 Atomizer x4
  • LR SS 510 Atomizer x2
  • Cherry vape 306 Black Cannon x2
  • Cherry Vape 306 White Cannon
  • AW IMR 16340 Batteries x4
  • Cherry Vape SS Ming Drip Tip
  • Empire 901 Silver Drip Shield
  • Vaperite Sample Juice Pack
I've done a lot of reading over the past week and plan to drip. I think I've got just about everything I need on order. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks,

J :vapor:

Hi and welcome to ECF. It looks like you're skipping the beginner models and going straight to some serious equipment. Lots of people like the GLV rigs so you've chosen wisely. The only thing I don't see on the list is a battery charger. I'd suggest you pick up 2. You need a backup in case one goes south on you, and they're cheap.

Thanks for the welcome! I have been an avid collector of different flashlights for several years so I have a dual bay Ultrafire charger and a nano charger that I can use for the batts. I've been reading a lot of posts that say you don't really get the same vape or flavor out of Carts that you get when dripping on an atomizer. At the same time I've heard some say that dripping isn't for beginners. I guess I will soon find out. Just got my tracking number from Sara at GLV so my mod should be here for xmas! :)

Wow... I can't even really recommend anything. That's a great setup right there, you've covered all your bases. Even the details, like the drip shield. Great PV, matched to the right resistance atties, even trying the 306's off the bat!

One thing I can advise, is to follow directions on breaking in the 306's. I've only used Cisco 306's, never Joye's, so I'm not sure if they come dry or with the nasty wetting agent on them, but the 306's I've used are very easy to burn up in the beginning if you don't break them in right. It's a slightly expensive and disappointing mistake that I've only made once, but its definitely better to learn from my mistake and not make the same one yourself :D Keep it wet during the break in.

I'm pretty impressed with your initial buy, Dagger, now you just need to pick up DIY'ing :D

Thanks for the tips. My understanding is that the wick needs to be somewhat primed. I think i read somewhere that 6 or 7 drops of juice should be dropped on the atty and left to sit for about a minute. once it's wet it shouldnt need more than 3 or so drops every 4-6 hits. I may be wrong on this. I'm going to be vaping 100%vg juice which I understand is thicker.

If these attys have some sort of wetting agent on them, is there a way to burn that off before I put juice on it? Maybe with distilled water? I'm not sure so that's why I'm asking.

Wow, you really did your research.

If the atomizer comes with the primer, you can blow as much of it out as you can like you're blowing through a straw. Into a kleenex or something. Beyond that, I always just vaped through the remainder of the primer... gross but temporary. I'd drop juice on top and not inhale into my lungs, just blow straight out until it was done. Joye 510 atomizers come primed. The Cisco 306's do not come primed, you'll have to ask someone else about the joye 306's, though... I've no idea :( You might be able to visually look once it arrives, the primed atties have a bit of a wet sheen to them, but not overly so. I never buy primed atties anymore.

What you said was pretty much exactly how to break in a Cisco 306 though, so you're golden on that front :) In my eyes, better to overfill in the beginning and risk juice in the mouth/slow draw (which goes away) vs a burnt atomizer (the taste never goes away!)
