Good evening. My name is Jessica and I am new to this site.
I was wondering if I could get some insight. I recently bought a smok G priv 3, but did not realize it did not come with batteries. The retailer expressed that I needed 18650 batteries. So I decided to buy some and thank goodness I bought them with a flash light because they do not fit my mod. Could someone direct me the right site to order ones that will fit and which ones to get please and thank you?

Gladly. Batteries are a lot more complicated that most people realize, so I'll start by suggesting a few beginner-level resources for more information:

To get you up and running quickly, we can suggest a specific battery or two if you don't mind answering the following questions:
  • I think that's a two-battery mod - is that correct?
  • What's the maximum wattage you'll actually vape at? If you don't know, what tank and coils are you using? (Explanation - Most mods can be turned up to higher wattages than their batteries can safely handle. Additionally, different models of 18650s have different limits, so we need to know what you'll actually be asking of the batteries to figure out which ones can provide what you need safely.)

Thank you so much for your reply. I will definitely look at the links you provided.
The G priv 3 is a 2 battery mod yes. After doing research the mod can go up to 230 W but I will probably not be going more then 65-75. I am not smoking for the cloud. I will be smoking for the flavor. See I am trying to quit smoking and I believe the flavor will be very important for me not turning back.

The mod has TFV16 Lite Tank (5ml), and a TFV16 Lite Conical mesh 0.2 Coil

As stated by Hawise, batteries are more complicated than just 18650... The ones you got with a flashlight have a button on the top, so they wouldn't fit. They also would likely not be suited for vaping, as the ones used for vaping can be drained faster than cheap ones.
To point you in the right direction, it would be helpful to know what wattage you vape at, to gauge how much current you'll need to be capable of, and where about your located, to point you to a reputable vendor, as batteries are faked, and only genuine ones should be trusted.

Thank you very much for your response. The vape is at 230 W.
yah I do not know much of the right batteries. The only response I got from the retailer is that I needed 18650 not telling me the right one. I am from Oregon.

You'll need suitable charger. Also, you should mate the batteries, use them and charge as a pair. Purchase four 18650s at minimum. One set to use, another charging or charged. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you so much for the advice and the welcome. I do plan on getting 4 of them. I am looking for a rechargeable set.

Sounds good. I'd recommend any one of:
  • Sony / Murata VTC6
  • Samsung 30Q
  • LG HG2
Purchased from:
18650.uk
18650batterystore.com
akkuteile.de
batterybro.com
ecoluxshopdirect.co.uk
fogstar.co.uk
illumn.com
imrbatteries.com
liionwholesale.com
orbtronic.com
rtdvapor.com

The three models above should be good to 90w in a two battery mod, although if you're actually vaping at 90 w much there are others that would work better.

About the recommended stores - you can find these models (or at least something purporting to be one of these models) at a lot of other places, but there's a big problem with counterfeit batteries so it's hard to be certain they're genuine. The stores here are recommended by people familiar with the battery industry (Mooch, to be specific - the guy responsible for the videos in the top post) and they tend to have reliable supply lines and often spot-checking procedures. Sticking to these stores won't ensure you never get a counterfeit, but it really reduces the risk. And never buy 18650s from marketplaces like Amazon or Ebay.

Finally, you might want to get an external charger as well. You can charge the batteries in the mod, but that tends to create a risk of overheating. Besides, SMOK is known for not having the best quality control. For an external charger, the basic-but-reliable brands are Xtar, Nitecore and Efest's LUC line. The battery vendors above will all carry a variety of chargers.

Good luck quitting!

Thank you on your advice on not buying from Amazon and Ebay. And it is the plan to get 4 rechargeable with a charger. I will never charge in the machine.

These are what is use in that mod right now.
Molicel P26A 18650 2600mAh 35A Battery - 18650 Battery Store
Get at least 4, and keep them paired in sets of two. Use a marker to write the pair number on the plastic wrap. Also, don't charge the batteries in the mod, that store has a decent charger in sale.

Thank you very much. And to verify I am supposed to buy batteries with the bump on the positive end I believe. Right??

You want flat top, not button top. Flat tops aren't entirely flat, but they don't have as much of a bump as the button tops. In any case, the batteries recommended in this thread should mostly be available as flat tops.

No, you want a flat top battery for a vape mod.

Bottom is flat...
